Hello Jennifer, what a surprise to see a video from you yesterday ❤ I wasn't expecting one until the holidays were over. I like effortless. I am going to keep effortless, declutter, motivation, prioritize, and focus in my mind 😅
My word of the year is "spaciousness." I want more vistas in my home, time, schedule, goals instead of trying to plan every minute and squeeze the life out of every hour.
Dear Jennifer, wishing you a wonderful, effortless New Year! 🥂My word of the year is “elevate”. For me, within this word reside poise, calm, presence and kindness - and these are the qualities I will be focusing on. 💜
My word is Kindness. I used to be a very kind person, always putting others first. I seemed to get jaded over time and allowed a fear to creep in. That fear was becoming a doormat. I have been taken advantage of before. This year I’m going to rediscover my kind nature but set healthy boundaries that won’t allow me to be taken advantage of. I don’t want to find myself alone and miserable or grumpy and pessimistic at 65. I must do the work.
In April Lord willing I will begin my 6th decade! my word is “do” . Do enjoy each day, do for others more , do for myself, do be in the moment, do follow my creative sparks, do and enjoy the gift of the day, do be challenged, be brave and courageous. Thank you for the motivation.
My word of the year is Faith. I’m attending a new church that has been wonderful for me, and this year I want to strengthen my relationship with God and grow my faith in big ways!
Happy New Year, Jennifer! My word of 2023 was "Serenity". I've always been the "angry mom", always running, always in a hurry, always worrying, my husband used to describe me as "uptight". Today he said I changed a lot! I am much more serene and laid back. Following this advice from you last year was life changing!
I have chosen "nurture" as my word. I tend to put everything and everyone above myself. I feel there are areas in my life where i need to focus on self care as well as others.
Today is my 33 birthday. As I approached it, I realized that I did not feel like the adult I dreamed I would be. 2023 was a hard year with residual effects of things that happened in 2022. My word of the year is TRANSCEND. I hope to transcend into the woman I always dreamed I would be…or at least make progress.
Inspired by a quote by Bonham Carter, which has recently been paraphrased and re-written on various social media platforms . . . My word of the year is “Art”! “I think everything in life is art. What you do. How you dress. The way you love someone, and how you talk. Your smile and your personality. What you believe in, and all your dreams. The way you drink your tea. How you decorate your home. Or party. Your grocery list. The food you make. How your writing looks. And the way you feel. Life is art.” Happy New Year, Jennifer! I had it on the first page of my planner for 2024 . . . Coffee with The Daily Connoisseur! Thank you for all the wonderful tips! The way you plan is art! Love, Lynne
Hi Jennifer! My word for 2024 is Faithful Servant. Okay, that’s two words, but they will help me in my journey to do more for others lovingly, and to try to leave a person or situation better than I found it. Can’t wait to read my Victoria issue, I’ve been saving it to read after the holiday rush! Thank you Jennifer! You make the world a classier place!
Happy New Year to all of the Daily Connoisseur Subscribers, and to you Jennifer and your family. My word is ILLUMINATE. I want to spread joy to others throughout the year by a compliment, a smile, or a shoulder to lean on. I started this practice in the fall of 2023, and it made the difference in my day and the way I felt about myself.
My words of the year, as I told a friend, are Joy and Surrender. I told her I couldn't pick just one without the other, and she said well "thats because if you think about it, you need both to be able to have them exist." So deep.
Joy. Someone gave me a Christmas ornament if an Angel with the word Joy on it. She told me I needed more Joy. I've been pretty unhappy the last 2 years. I guess it isn't going unnoticed. So that is my word for this year.
My word of this year is TIME. I wish to spend my TIME in a positive way, not to waste a minute of my TIME. As I get older, I realize how precious TIME is. I want to spend quality TIME with good books, great cooking/baking and spending TIME with people who are worth giving my TIME with.
Simplify is my word for 2024. I will be retiring at the end of the first quarter this year and want to walk into this next chapter by creating an easier but meaningful environment to have time to do the things that I haven’t been able to do. May 2024 be filled with great blessings for you and your family. ❤
Hello soul sister, my 2024 word is SIMPLIFY! I too am approaching retirement and looking forward to filling my days with things I've been too busy to do forever. It felt like you were reading my mind 😊
Good luck in your retirement. I theoretically retired at 58 nearly nine years ago. I’ve never ever worked such long hours or been so busy in my life! I volunteer all over the place but the difference is it’s all things I choose to do that give me satisfaction and I can stop at any time to say enough. I just haven’t reached that point yet!🤣
My word for the year is enough. I’m a chronic over-doer. So, for 2024, I’m focusing on doing enough of the good things, like exercise, drinking enough water, getting enough rest, eating enough veggies. But also focusing on curbing the bad enoughs, like enough with the over-doing, enough perfectionism, enough stress, enough self-doubt. After all, enough is enough, already :)
So I about cried at the beginning of this video because I watched your planning video last year where you recommended picking a word of the year and last year I picked ‘Grit’. When I chose that word I was thinking of it in a very specific context and to that end I didn’t practice grit. BUT you know where I did have grit? In literally every other aspect of my life. 😭💜 This last year truly pushed me to what I thought were my absolute limits and I’m so proud of how I fought through and had grit. These last two months in particular have been awful. My husband has been sick with one cold after another and I and our kids caught every other bug he brought home. But watching this video reminded me of my word and how even though I might not have lost the weight I wanted to; I still practiced having grit. ❤❤❤
I have two words - QUIET and ENOUGH. If I allow quiet for reflection and time with God I will soak in “my enough”. Enough time, things, resources. Less media (except you, Jennifer!), less noise. More fun projects with what I have/own.
Worship is my word for the year. All that I am and all that I have, I desire to remind myself to worship The One who created me and giveth me the blessings of life and family. "Happy New Year!"
My word is confident. It might seem like a strange word to pick for being in my mid 50s, but I’m at a new stage of life and this is an area I need to work on. Thank you for all your inspiration. Happy New Year.
I find comfort in your word. I’m 48 and lack confidence. I second guess every decision and thought I have. I’m working on that this year. Thanks. I don’t feel alone now.
Yes!! Agree 👍 I'll be 57 this year - teenager of the senior quarter of my life. We women may fade due to beauty standards, but we are beautiful and have more to offer with confidence and competence. You go, girl 👏
My word of the year will be Honor. Honoring God, honoring one another, honoring time, honoring the home, honoring the body. 💓 Great topic! Thank you, Jennifer!!
I keep a note on my phone of all the things I want to plan weekly, monthly , etc, such as exercise 3x, try 1 new recipe. That way when I sit down with my planner I remember to include those items.
I need to retry using a planner! I get so distracted, all be it! It's my 20th wedding anniversary this year..and I'm going to choose the word, "Romance" I want to host once again this winter. We are in our 60-70 age group, and love to make a task a bit more fun. Fun as in a new seasonal dish soap to wash dishes with. A pretty coffee cup to start the morning. It can be easy to feel loney, overwhelmed but having a word in the forefront will be a blessing! Now off to find my planner... Thanks
Im actually trying the Laurel Denise planner this year. My word is 'Intentional.' I want to be intentional in my actions and projects and actually focus on enjoying and completing the tasks.
My word is Peace. I want to make peace with losing my brother in 2022 and other things from the past and create peace in my life now and plant seeds of peace for my future. I am so excited my husband just got me a Victoria magazine subscription for my birthday! Cannot wait to read your works. Love and blessings Jennifer! Thank you for being such an inspiration 💕
I really feel your loss! 2022 was a book-end year for me. I lost a sister on January, of Covid. Then I ended in December of 2022, losing another sister to cancer. I tell you this, not for sympathy, but because I need to! I try to talk about these sisters freely to help me process the losses and honor these sisters in my everyday life.
@@sylviadonaghue9192 yes we definitely need to be able to speak of our siblings freely! That is one thing I appreciate from a few of my friends who let me talk about my brother openly. My brother died by suicide and there is such a stigma around that but also grief in general is not well received in society. I truly am sorry you are in this unwanted club of sibling loss. Keep talking about them and honoring them. 🙏🏻💕
My word is Delight! I want to delight in my everyday life, delight in The Lord and grow deeper in my relationship. Delight in the people in my life, etc…
I’m a huge fan of Hobonichi planners, which has a huge cult following. You can plan, document important dates and reminders, draw (I’m not an artist, but the effort is relaxing and good to look back at a few years later) decorate with stickers and washi tapes, set out my budget and document investments, expenses and track actual expenses, gratitude and affirmations journaling , and regular journaling. My to do list is not a high daily list, otherwise it feels like failure, and having less pressure, and there is flexibility. Some people follow their planning too much that they forget to live life. I don’t carry my planner with me, and my to do list is reasonable short that I don’t need another notebook or take pictures to remember, but carry my planner to work. There is also the joy of writing instruments. Fountain pens, Tombow, Clena gel pens, bring joy to planning, and using more skills then a digital planner. Happy Ndw Year!
I decided to have the word "wellbeing" writen as "healthy and wealthy" because it feels a lot more clear in my head. It reminds me that true wealth is to be healthy physicaly, emotionaly and spiritualy. Having just "wellbeing" writen there felt empty
My word is "refuge". It's a reminder to make my home a place of reduge from the storms of life, to be a true friend, and to seek the Lord when those storma come.
Euphoria is my word for 2024. I will look for the moments of excitement and happiness and make a list in my journal of those moments, noting what brought them on.
My word of the year is balance. I’ve been out of balance in the last few years with my work taking almost all of my time and energy. I want to get back to a place where work is only a part of my life, equally balanced by time with family and friends and time spent on my own home and health.
Jennifer, I am late to the party and only now watching this video, which is wonderful - thank you!!! My word for 2024 is “believe.” The reason I chose believe is that even though my main goal in life is to know God and follow Him continually, I must admit to myself that there are parts of my life that do not align with what I say I believe, because I lack the faith to believe God for the design or my life that I believe has already been ordained by Him. I am lacking faith that is needed to stop doing one thing in order to replace it with the Christ-like attribute I know I’m lacking. So for me in picking the word “believe,” I am not just hoping I will see myself differently and wishing I would change; instead I am committed to continually praying for the faith I lack (James 1) and for ability to see myself walking through my circumstances in Gods power and as Jesus would. This is what to me believing means. Thank you for everything you share. You are truly a light in this world and such an inspiration and encouragement to so many. With much gratitude❤️
I retired from nursing 1 1/2 years ago and I've taken care of people since. I've been so busy, so my word(s) for the year are stillness and expectancy. I'm going to put space in my calendar and be still and expectant at what the Lord has for me. I always write birthdays, anniversaries, and special events down so i can send cards in a timely manner. I'm so excited i have my new Victoria magazine ❤
My word of the year is Truth. Being truthful with others and with myself, living out my truth. If I have to lie about something then I am not living in harmony with my truth.
My word for the year is calm. With a 6 and 9 year old life can be chaotic. I desire to remain calm in those chaotic times. I was at Walmart and they have the Day Designer planner in 2 sizes there. I chose the smaller one. It fits in my purse, so I have it with me when I go out. Thank you for the planner tips. I pray I am faithful in using my planner this year. Blessings to you and your family for 2024.
My word is consistency because the last 6 months of 2023 had many changes with work as well finishing college classes. Only 1 more for 2024! Im on a journey of better health, and weight loss is one component. Onward and upward 🙌
✨❤️My word: Simplify. Everything. From go to recipes, skincare, hair and makeup, scheduling, work, clutter, and in my morning and evening routines. Thanks Jennifer❤✨
My word for the year is discipline. I had surgery last year and had to let go of many plans while I healed. Now I’m ready to work on my plans and dreams. ❤
Adventure. My husband and I have been talking about how we want more adventure in our lives. We are planning a boating voyage down the whole CT River starting at the lakes. We worked ceaselessly last year and it is time for some fun and adventure!
My word of the year is solace. 2023 was a rough year so this is a good word for me this year. I've been doing this for years and it's made such a difference.
My hubby passed away a little over 3 months ago, I have been stressed and feeling pressured to move forward, so this NY w/o him I will have to go “slow and easy”. That is my”word” of the year. Thanks Jennifer for this video I love the planning videos!
Great ideas Jennifer! I would add to use a beautiful well writing pen! I am learning Italian and my words for the year are Meraviglia (wonder) and Sorpresa (surprise).
I just recently discovered the power of using a planner and was thrilled to see your video on the topic! After thinking what my word of the year would be I remembered how I have been focusing on frugality and saving money to buy a used car with cash. I am excited about focusing on "Frugality" this year!
After last three years of misery in my professional and personal life (and no, it is not related to covid pandemic) I desire plain and simple- success. So here it goes, my word for 2024 is SUCCESS😁
Thank you so much for sharing the useful information on Planner! My word this year is Positive. My father passed away at the end of October last year. He was such a positive person even when he was in the face of hardship. Now I just saw a UA-cam video of a couple (95 years young husband and 89 years young wife), who were interviewed on the street. They looked 10 years younger at least with full of energy. They said a tip of keeping them young was being Positive. I was inspired by this word. Happy new year and may this year be filled with prosperity for you.
My word this year is ‘Create’ we’re starting a new business, trying for a baby, furnishing a new home… creating a new chapter in life. I also want to make time for creative hobbies over consuming books/films … thanks for the video, I really enjoyed it!
I spent hours on Sunday setting up my 2024 planner, writing to-do lists, etc. So this morning, the first day of the new year I started my day early and had several pleasant productive hours. Then we received word that our dear brother in law (he was our neighbor also) passed away during the night. I spent hours on the phone and writing messages and texts, communicating with extended family. Those hours of planning were a helpful foundation for my unexpectedly sad, busy day. My planner is one of my most important tools. Thank you, Jennifer.
Hello Jennifer and Happy New Year!!! My word for this year is present. I want to be present in every moment, with my family and friends, with the people I meet on a daily basis, nature, just taking it all in. I want to be present in my faith and soak in Gods word.
I've had a couple of years of loss and family trauma. I decided on "PLAYFUL" for 2024. Whether it's in the garden or painting or cooking or singing karaoke with friends. I need to play. I almost chose "hope" but I wanted an action to take. And play encompasses some hope, right? ❤

Hello Jennifer, what a surprise to see a video from you yesterday ❤ I wasn't expecting one until the holidays were over.
I like effortless. I am going to keep effortless, declutter, motivation, prioritize, and focus in my mind 😅
Happy New Year to everyone. My word of the year is CONNECTION.
My word of the year is "spaciousness." I want more vistas in my home, time, schedule, goals instead of trying to plan every minute and squeeze the life out of every hour.
I love spaciousness! ✨
This was my word last year!
My word of the year this year is joy. The last few years I have been in survival mode, and this year I'm releasing that energy and seeking joy.
Here's to a year of joy!
Mine too. I even picked all my Christmas cards with word joy and joyful 😊
Yes! Mine too...there's so much going on around the world but I am determined this year seek the joy of the day in my little part of the world.❤
My word of the year is Faith. I’m attending a new church that has been wonderful for me, and this year I want to strengthen my relationship with God and grow my faith in big ways!
Simplicity. 2023 felt like sensory overload, trying to do too much! Keeping it simple
I’m sorry but it makes me think of George Costanza yelling SERENITY NOW! 😂
@@cecilyerker😂😂😂
That’s a great word. I wish you (and myself) more serenity. Maybe I should change my nickname to something other than badger 😊
Oftentimes husbands have no idea what we go through. I love your word "serenity"!
My word is “Peaceful”. Last year was chaotic, rushed and emotionally draining. I need peace and tranquility more than anything in this new year.
I have chosen "nurture" as my word. I tend to put everything and everyone above myself. I feel there are areas in my life where i need to focus on self care as well as others.

Those planners sound amazing!
Rachel in theory does good planner videos using the hobonichi
Jennifer, don't know if the lipstick you're wearing is a new one or not, but it IS utter perfection on you.
My word for 2024 is deliberate, I want to stay on task with my goals ❤
I chose a similar word… I picked “ease” for 2024. Life will still be hard at times but I want to weave in more ease in to my days.
“Enrichment” To make fuller, more meaningful or more rewarding.
I decided to have the word "wellbeing" writen as "healthy and wealthy" because it feels a lot more clear in my head. It reminds me that true wealth is to be healthy physicaly, emotionaly and spiritualy. Having just "wellbeing" writen there felt empty
My word is “create” so excited to start new year and I want to focus on my health this year . Wishing everyone happiness and success in 2024 !!
Happy New Year!! My word is gratitude 🙏🏼

My word of the year is solace. 2023 was a rough year so this is a good word for me this year. I've been doing this for years and it's made such a difference.

Yes! Here's to SUCCESS this year! ✨
Going on 4 years of misery here. Trying to dig myself out of this hole 😅
My word of the year is service. I want to spend time volunteering and helping others in whatever ways I am able.
Thank you! I just went back to the day designer after trying others. Really like it!!!
LOVE the idea of taking a photo (on a big day out) of the to-do list - very practical!!
My word of the year is Simplicity. Great tips, thank you 😊
Hello Jennifer and Happy New Year!!! My word for this year is present. I want to be present in every moment, with my family and friends, with the people I meet on a daily basis, nature, just taking it all in. I want to be present in my faith and soak in Gods word.
My world of the year is "action". I guess I need it right now more then ever. Thank you for wonderful ideas❤
I've had a couple of years of loss and family trauma. I decided on "PLAYFUL" for 2024. Whether it's in the garden or painting or cooking or singing karaoke with friends. I need to play. I almost chose "hope" but I wanted an action to take. And play encompasses some hope, right? ❤
I love this. ❤
Even though I have no planner... But it was useful to watch this video
