**UPDATE: I double checked inside the casing, the lights are dry, no condensation in there! I dusted out the fans to see if that helps. The hood runs 6 fans, 2 built into the lights and 2 on each side of the hood to help circulation..
Yeah I was gonna say maybe it’s a fail safe for the light overheating and being full of dust. If you wanna keep the hood I’d switch to ai blades since they don’t have fans and are waterproof so you wouldn’t have to worry about moisture. Or keep the radions and ditch the hood. Your corals would get better more even par without the plexiglass too. You would pry be able to decrease the intensity and further prolong the life of the lights also
It's probably the humidity. They are not getting good air circulation maybe. I wouldn't stick my lights in a hood like that.
I hope cleaning the fan helps. You started right before me in the hobby. I would hope these last much longer. I have a different brand and Ill clean it (ReefBuilders) thanks!
Hi, tank looks great, but i think it might be time to revamp your tank and take care ofcthe Asterina stars at the same time, and yes I think it time to change up your lights, good luck Steve uk
I’m not sure if that’s a good light setup. It’s not properly venting the way you set it up. It’s needs more air to breath. With the heat and condensation that’s what probably broke the light.
Ok one of you manufacturers should hook this lady up with a new light setup
😁
May be time to update lights tank in general looks great well established 👍
Get the Hygger 50 Watt lights for reefs. Two should do your tank. A lot less than other lights. My corals are happy I switched.
Might be the humidity because your tank's lid.
Pretty sure no light would do well in that humid, overheated, no airflow hood-ditch the hood.
lights are in the original enclosure that the Red Sea lights are in, so they should be protected.. but ill double check to make sure no leaks getting in there!
You should borrow a harlequin shrimp from your LFS to rid yourself of those Asterina Starfish. The will keep multiplying and will eat coral if there’s nothing else to munch on.
Once they’re gone, you’ll have to return the shrimp… unless you want to feed it starfish on the regular.
yea I used to have one but he ate everything too fast lol -- waiting to pick another one up here soon they are almost bad enough! thanks for watching!
I have them as well. Krista from K&P Aquaculture has done a ton of research on them & said that a majority of them don’t go after corals & are harmless. But I still manually remove them from my tank cuz I’ve seen so many 😬 Don’t wanna take a chance on them going after corals either way…
My G4s did the same thing. I used a keyboard air spray to blow the fans . A lot of gunk came out. So far been working fine for the past 3 months after cleaning out the fans. GL !
gonna give this a shot, thanks!!
Although the lights have fans, they don't get any (or much) air to cool them down because they are contained inside the transparent plastic housing the old lights were in. You could cut holes in the top of the hood to let the heat escape or let the fans draw air in. just a thought.
What’s the heat like inside that hood. You could have premature failure if they are overheating
never tested inside the hood temp, but I run the 2 fans that are in the lights and all 4 of the side fans to help. they've been running on this setup for 4 years now though
@@DreamStateLiving ok sounds like you already addressed that. I wasn’t familiar with the hood setup.
Nice tank , I think you should look into circulation for the lights and definitely clean the fans . Good luck
It’s good to clean the fans in your lights every couple months depending on how dusty your house is. I have the Neptune Sky and clean mine often. I’ve had it since 2021 and no issues.
If you have to I would look into another brand of light. I also have a Nicrew light I bought off of Amazon, works great! Altho I have that hooked to my apex as well but on another tank.
Same I take the screen off my ai primes every three months clean them in the sink and use a can of air to blow out the fans.
Bummer the lights are acting up. I used to love the stock t5’s on the rsm. Those were simpler times.
haha ya! I love the ecotechs but this problem has to be resolved!
Try toggling the acclamation on and off with the program and that might fix it
sometimes its the power supply box not giving it enough volts happened to 2 of my aqua illumination light 20 dollars supply box fix
Look into quanta bars, super happy with mine.
Dude mine did the same thing I’m sending it in this week 😮
I would check for any form of salt creep in or around the fixture. If you find some, water/moisture is definitely the issue.
yea! they should be protected but I haven't check INSIDE of the enclosure in years so gonna check it out just to make sure everything still looks good an sealed!
My light does the same thing it’s the power brick barrel plug unplug the round plug and plug it back in.
Could be cause of the cover you put it’s creating lack of air flow plus humidity and condensation building up ?
gonna check it out but I have the 2 fans on the light then 2 fans on each side of the hood that come built into the hood running as well -- so 6 fans
i really think that the unreliablilty of the radions is a possible selling point for reefers who like their radions. that way if they get good growth and colors… they’ll stick to the next model. i had issues with the bluetooth on the lights. it worked, but no controlability
I use the reeflink with mine. Never miss a beat
yea its about a 75/25 chance that mine is connected, not a big deal mostly -- except the 25% seems to always be when you wanna show someone something with the lights 😂
Welcome to the club.
😭😭
You need a sponsor for some lights!
I hope you figure out what’s up with the lights. We all love reefing…but it’s become ridiculously expensive.
It’s the outlet plug. The old plugs go bad
Definitely a heat issue inside the hood
Hey I am sorry to say this but, I think is really unfair for those surgeon fish to be in that tank. Those tangs need at least 100 gallons and up to graze. Especially the Hippo tang. On top of that your AIO tank is filled with corals and rocks so it’s really a small space for them.
most likely a LED that has died and make the rest of the board short. I would check them with a multimeter
I wonder if the AI blade light works for the setup you have?
🤷🏻♀️ id probably have to build some custom mount to keep the same screw holes in the hood
I wonder if light will make algae grow. 😂😂😂
Holy Asterina Stars!
I bet the moisture what causing the issue for the old light. I am sure the moisture really bad in the enclose tank top.
they should be protected as they are in the original enclosure that the Red Sea lights come in.. but ill double check!
I use fixreef that repair reef electronics for my radion G5 light. But I am not sure if worth the cost to repair your reef light. @@DreamStateLiving
As far as the overgrown encrusting coral get some tunze epoxy. Cover up the encrusted coral for a week or 3. It’ll die off. Peel off the epoxy (which is super easy) you’ll have ugly white coral skeleton that will look terrible for awhile but the coraline will take over and you won’t be able to tell
gonna give this a go, thanks! feel bad killing off some of the coral lol but its growing out of control!
Hope you can get those nuisance starfish under control
haha ya I used to have a HQ shrimp but he ate them sooo fast, so waiting for it to get real bad before getting another so he has plenty to eat
What about trading it back into the store when he is finished doing his job or trading him out with another hobbyist who could use his services.
It’s just Ecotech’s shotty software. Good luck with Ecotech getting acquired by apature, PE prices have skyrocketed and service is down.
😭😭 yea 1k per light seems wild lol but then again they do grow hundreds of thousands worth of coral so I guess who knows lol 🤷🏻♀️
Your fan is probably going bad. It will give you a error code from the buttons they will flash a certain color.
hmmm! didn't think of that! Ill check to see if that happens next time, thanks!
eBay is the way to go if you’re trying to save a few bucks. Just got a gen 5 for a fraction of the cost.
I've lost 2 xr15 pro 4s and 1xr30 blue g5 in the last 3 weeks
I might give up on ecotech 😢
dang 2 in 3 weeks!!? 😳
LOL sure you did
Next Video Title: Ecotech sent me two G6’s!!
🔥😂
Add 2 ai blades
I hear a lot of problems with the radions… go with Kessil.
luckily this is the first issue I have encountered with them!
Time to dump the old school hood
my latest million dollar light lasted a whole 3 months before it started failing. i quit reefing over it.its ridiculous, nothing lasts anymore and everything is 5 times what it should cost. i want to buy overpriced corals not endless replacements of gear
million dollar light 😂😭😂
No need to dish out that much. Thats why theres facebook marketplace and offer up.
T5s...
@AquaIlluminationUS @EcoTechMarineUS Hook a sister up with some new lights!
time for a major upgrade...out with the old and in with the new....lets see the 300g new build at the new crib
Looks like its in the early states of going bad, unfortunately
😭😭😭
