Really cool video! It's quite comforting to know that some things are preserved, and honored in a world of constant change and corporate greed. I was dreading that I was going to see a Starbucks or McDonald's at Strawberry Fields and there WASN'T...by the grace of God. Thanks again! Cheers 🍻
I visited Liverpool 21 years ago. Took the Prince's Trust tours of John's and Paul's homes, (Sat on Paul's bed (😁) and really enjoyed them. Michael McCartney came over to take part in a photo exhibit, so we got to meet him as well.
The pub shown near the beginning The Dovedale Towers was Freddy Mercury's home for a short while. Apparently he lived in a room upstairs when he was a student in Liverpool.
Wow, that's a great story, thanks for sharing. Night at the Opera has always been one of my favorite Albums! Also thanks for watching and commenting and please Like, Subscribe & Share! Ivan Katz ua-cam.com/video/qcb9WZE0Lgw/v-deo.htmlsi=quq8ttDTU5jHqoIF
Also Eleanor Rigby written by Paul. John did help with changing the name from father McCartney. They actually went through a phonebook. If any of you know what that is today
Sorry to dissapoint!... but the Eleanor Rigby in this grave, according to Paul, is NOT the Eleanor he wrote about in the song!...he got the name Rigby from a Hat shop in Bristol as he was walking through the town, all he had in the beginning was the name Elanor...but the Tourist officials will tell you different to fit their tourist version!..There was a video of Paul telling this story on a 'You-Tube' video....
Yes, I've seen that video and heard Paul saying exactly that. However, they would often meet in that graveyard and would very likely have seen it, even if Paul didn't remember it later on. It seems far too much of a coincidence not to be true.
Paul has acknowledged the gravestone could have lodged in his sub-conscience. Might be in his Lyrics book. Even he admits it's otherwise too much of a coincidence.
It's about Eleanor Rigbys grave, St Peter's church Woolton The Bristol reference, that you mention helped inspire the song. I lived in Woolton Road (same church and same road as the Hall John met Paul).
@@nigel8499 The song is about a fictitious person who Paul bestowed the name Eleanor Rigby which caught his interest and imagination having seen the name before,- Possibly on a headstone in Walton cemetery??, or/and the proprietor's name of a shop he noticed in Bristol.
I’ve been to England twice in the Navy 1987 and again in 1988. Sadly I’ve never made it to Liverpool. Our port was South Hampton, Portsmouth. Furthest I got was London by train. Bought lots of Beatles records at Tower Records at Piccadilly Circus… Still have them unplayed mint condition.
Point of order, that is not the Cavern! It was rebuilt well after John Lennon was dead in and opened in 1984 . That's the location of the original Cavern which was demolished for a train station Paul McCartney did perform there in that location with David Gilmour after his hiatus following the death of his first wife Linda McCartney.
I know lol , was looking through the comments to see who knew and who commented . Fake Cavern now lol , bloody stupid Council knocking the original one down . The new Cavern Club is still really cool though :)
John and Paul's Childhood Homes are relatively close to each other, while George and Ringo's Childhood Homes are at either end of Liverpool, so they were a bit farther out, and while traveling, there's only so much you can do. But yes, next time I'll definitely have them on my to do list, and perhaps I'll do another video! Thanks for watching and commenting, and please Like, Subscribe & Share! Wrong on both counts. Blackbird was inspired by a real singing black bird at his father's house in the Wirrall near Liverpool as told by his step-sister Ruth. 'A Little Help From My Friends' was written with John in two sessions. First at John's house in Weybridge where they got the tune down, then they worked on the lyrics at Paul's house in St Johns Wood (see Hunter Davies and Miles books).
I,m from liverpool, ive been to all the sites, except were john and paul met.has anybody heard of blair hall in walton, its gone now but the beatles played their 4 or 5 times,I always think of them everytime I pass it,Brian epstein owned a shop facing, and evertons football ground is yards from them if anyone ever visits liverpool, great video really enjoyed it

I think one of main reasons why john and paul were going to reach the top of mind in song’s composition it is the fact both lost their mothers early in life. That condition made them to be reflectives and suffering a kinda feeling of emptyness about human nature meanings. This constant searching resulted in a great expression of their art as musicians.
I very much enjoyed this even if, as someone has already pointed out, it seems doubtful that the Eleanor Rigby grave was the conscious direct inspiration for the song, unless there was something subliminal about it. Also Dovedale Towers was once known as St Barnabas Hall and The Quarry Men played there at least once. Bizarrely it seems that Freddie Mercury once lived there also. It's a shame you didn't wander a little further down Penny Lane as you would have found Paul's signature on a Penny Lane road sign (you can see him putting it there in the company of James Corden in an episode of Carpool Karaoke from 2018 elsewhere on youtube).
I took a private tour in 2014 similar plus a few things. Paul once claimed he made up the name Elinor Rigby but we saw the truth, didn't we? My guide also took me to John's mother's grave where it appeared John's ashes had been put under a new headstone. We drove by the house where John lived as an infant and it was being remodeled for its new owner, presumed to be Sean, whose limo had stopped outside there the day before! How many people can say they have been in Paul's childhood closet? (The room was crowded so there I was) Thanks for taking me back!!
It's a dam shame they don't knock down that ghastly bistro in the middle of the roundabout and turn into a sensory beatle themed garden. Its the same in London, there is no place for beatle fans to go and pay pilgrimage. I would turn the whole of Abbey road studios into a Beatles/other band museum.

Strawberry Fields was an orphanage at that time. And the reason that Yoko had to buy John's house was they would not make it a trust home because they did not have a particular song that they could prove was written there
Paul has debunked the ‘Eleanor rigby’ theory on a number of occasions. It’s a pure coincidence that there’s a grave baring that name at Woolton church. That tour guide was talking nonsense - making up stories for tourists

I really enjoyed this , seeing where they lived and hanged out. I must say though, I like John's solo work except Imagin. To me it's a song without hope and no soul. Just my thoughts.
My pal was a GP in Liverpool and as his daily exercise he went for very long walks each morning before attending his surgery. Early one morning he was passing the top of Forthlin Road when he noticed a car stopping and two people getting out and walking towards him. It was Paul McCartney and Heather Mills who stopped and greeted him. Paul explained he had brought Heather to show her where he came from but was unable to do so during the day without being caught out by the Beatles Tours, he joked that Heather didnt like early mornings and involved my pal as an audience member while he reminisced about his childhood and regaled Heather with intimate tales of his family life when he lived there as a kid. He spent around 20 minutes in their company before they left 'to go to Johns house'. My pal said it would have just been wrong to hang along with them so they parted company thus ending the most remarkable morning exercise of his life.

I noticed the lovely old church and these old churches and pubs and buildings need to be preserved for future generations.
Just imagine going back in time and telling those kids, "there will be statues of you around here"...
Great video! I had no idea there was also a grave with the Mckenzie name
Also Eleanor Rigby written by Paul. John did help with changing the name from father McCartney. They actually went through a phonebook. If any of you know what that is today
Allegedly written by a ghost writer named McKenzie, as was most of their stuff.
I live in woolton never noticed the Mackenzie grave 😮 but mimi. Smiths husband is buried a bit further in , who John was very fond of
Ian Edward
Saudoso Ian Edwards do Ian and The Zodiacs mvivia em Woolton

It’s wonder a we don’t have the old chestnut of Paul dreaming up the song Yesterday and it first being called Scrambled eggs.
I’m pretty sure that’s Mary McCartney in the front seat.
I like very much
