I had a '65 Corvair Corsa 140. It was beautiful, fast, big fun. I used to run away from Datsun Z's (the current fast popular car) accelerating, uphill, on a curve. I would have kept it forever. Unfortunately, it was stolen. I saw it going by the next day on a hook, minus the drivetrain. I lived in San Diego at the time. Somebody built himself a fast dune buggy.
What a great episode! Having owned various Corvairs for about 15 years, I love it when they are recognized for the engineering marvels they were and are.
My first car was a 1951 356 cabriolet. I saved it from being scraped. It was slow and over steered insanly. Solde it to pay for college. My next car was a 1965 Corsair Corsa convert able 4spd and 4 carbs.. It was fast and handled very well. This was a great pairing to watch.
I see the Corvair has the optional parking brick. I love driving and working on my 62 Corvair Monza. It's my daily driver. I put 1380 miles on it in September.
I had a beautiful yellow/black interior '64 turbo monza as a senior in high school in '72. Wish it were in my garage today! Donald - your excitement about this old car is obvious!
1961 monza trim started the Sporty compac bucket seat trend and popularized 4 speed ,lot of early compact 60s cars had 3 speed on the coulum monza was a trend setter. needs more positive press
Donald Osborne is an american treasure. I thought the only thing a Corvair was good for was as an engine donor to a home-built aircraft. Now I'm having guilty recriminations. I remember when 911's were a dime a dozen but they are fantastic little cars, I've never driven the 356. .
I agree....wonderful interplay between location, historical interchange between eras that is so well thought, let me get to the focus. interesting cars presented by a the support of a collection with spirit knowledge and a great ability to transcend the years and transport us to a meld of the times......well done...subscribe folks....and enjoy the time well spent... thanks Donald ....and you tooo Jay LOL........this coming from a Montana boy who was till Montana called me home the horticultural director of Of a wonderful Newport estate.... with a great mission.....
I think the reason for the low subscription numbers is the large number of us old farts here, many who don't realize that subscriptions on UA-cam are 100% free and require you to do absolutely nothing except click on one button. The only thing that will change for you is that you will get more recommendations for the A Audrain channel. That's it, one free click and your subscribed!
If it's not made in Europe it doesn't get any time. I had a 62 corsair, if you drove the porsche in the same manner as the corvair it would be on a hook
Jay Leno visits often and has several segments on the channel, most notable is Mansions & Motorcars. There is a new episode premiering Friday, but in the meantime, you can click this link to make sure you haven't missed any: ua-cam.com/play/PLdNT8TMd3ccc0Dw5I8S3nily_Glvnr48B.html
Thanks for watching, we love our friends from across the pond... and their contribution to the automotive world.😉 When you're done watching this video, be sure to check out this one, ua-cam.com/video/zc_id-DIMEA/v-deo.html (if you haven't already), there's a great piece on Jaguar!
You are certainly entitled to enjoying content more geared towards the mechanics of automobiles, and perhaps we need a segment where we dive deeper into those topics. In the meantime, you can find engine shots of the Corvair and Carrera 2 at these timestamps: 3:13, 3:47, 7:15, and 8:29.
gentlemen - a very poor attempt at humour - referring to your hurriedly written monologue. really bad - as in don't try that approach again lest you lost what subs you have now. Ask Jay if you want funny anything...ya'll are funnyboneless.

We appreciate your support!
Hilarious that at 1:20 the Corvair's parking brake is deployed. Same kind mine had.
Thanks Ben and Donald!
Thank YOU!
Great video, the only thing these cars have in common is rear engine, chalk and cheese, that’s why Porsche still hanging on to ‘same’ design 👍
You guys are great don’t get discouraged by the subscriber count. I talk about Donald on my podcast
Excellent presentation

Chris! You never fail us. We're just swell! How are you?
Tres Bien, Merci.@@AudrainMuseumNetwork
Why don't I subscribe? Honest answer, I don't mean to be a troll.
You don't show the engines or talk about the mechanics of the car.
Donald Osborne bores the crap out of me. That's why I haven't subscribed, too much Osborne.
