Braised beef is one of my favorite dishes. In the Philippines, there is a similar dish called beef fritada. The recipe makes use of brown sugar instead of carrots. But I learned from Vincenzo that a carrot is a better neutralizer of acidity in any tomato-based dish so I now use carrots instead of sugar.

Buying full cuts of meat rather than pre diced, minced or sliced is the same principle as buying whole tinned tomatoes instead of crushed. The lower quality bits get broken down. Also full cuts are cheaper.
You've made a great point! Buying whole cuts of meat and whole canned tomatoes can be a smart choice for both quality and cost savings. Great recipe!
I’ve heard a lot of people say you shouldn’t use extra virgin for cooking. I guess that’s a myth? 🤔
It's definitely a myth, a lot of people use EVOO for cooking. It's very useful because EVOO retains the same temperature during cooking, this helps lessen the chances of burning your food.
@@vincenzosplate thanks!
We can't eat beef but I will try this recipe with buffalo meat 😊😊🐂
Sounds great! 😍
I usually make that with no potato
With pasta or over risotto
you should try it with potatoes 😋

ITALIANO NOT IRISH
BUT IM SURE WITH POTATOES
IT'S GOOD
Lovely! But please, can you give me the Italian name for it? I couldn't find it anywhere.
In Italy it is called Spezzatino!
Vincenzo's wife: "Who are these Rose and Mary you are talking about?" 😁
Hahahah
It is so good that you show how simple and few and fresh ingredients is the key to super delicious Italian food. It winds me up when these fancy chefs complicate things.
all the italian recipes are super easy to make, you don't need all those ingredients you see other chefs use!
Oooooooh spezzatino!
troppo buonooo 😋
