  • Its been many many years since I last walked around the International District aka Chinatown in Seattle. A lot of the familiar restaurants and shops have changed from many years ago. Watch as I walk a few blocks around to see what the neighborhood looks like today.

Good, You start at the Uwajimaya store, heading North. FYI, The County is placing a 5 acre Mega Shelter 1 block South of the Store. 500 beds, 50 tiny homes and 50 RV parking spots. It's set for Winter 2022 and they never informed the neighborhood until Summer 2022.
Your video will be a good timestamp of how tranquil the neighborhood is pre Mega Shelter.
You didn't go to Little Saigon neighborhood - 12th & Jackson (East past I-5) because it got scary and the businesses got destroyed by the people attracted to the 75 bed DESC Navigation Center that's there.
A Shelter takes people in for the night, after Breakfast is served, people have to leave. Where will they go? North to Chinatown. Hing Hay Park will be different Summer 2023.
Sad that a City that prides itself on Equity and Inclusion
would do this to such a Historic and Unique neighborhood.
I call it Government approved Block busting. They want to make the area so undesirable that people won't go there and have the small businesses fail. Leaving Prime Real Estate available for the Developers.
I guess we're still Ch*nks, J*ps and G**ks that they could care less about our Success.
