Life was simple. And we still survived with not having a phone on us all the time. Check the answering machine when you got home. Need to make a phone call? Stop at a pay phone. Oh yeah, and be home before the street lights are on...
It's funny (and kind of sad) that so many people expected this to end in tragedy, controversy or horror, when in reality it's just a simple feel good story. Shows a lot about media these days when these kind of stories are so rare and hard to find
Don't forget, Sweet and .. Pretty too! So it Aint plain old texas :-) I have a number of cousins in Texas and always love visiting the Lone Star State!!!
Except for the part in the beginning where she tells the story that they would pick people based on how they looked. Aka young pretty women are going to get picked more often than old ugly men and women. Good thing Bob Barker didn't make it to the me too era is all I'm saying
@aegisfate117 Even among the woke and me too days, they still put attractive people on TV and movies. I get what you're saying. They probably would still cancel Bob Barker.
Yes! I've watched too much true crime and documentaries on UA-cam, I kept waiting for some insidious dark secrets to be exposed. Besides some casual sexism and regionalism, it was pretty wholesome.
This is probably the best thing I've watched on UA-cam in years !!! Not only did it take me back to the days when I would watch TPIR, but it was such an awesome story in the end !!!
What a precious gal and an uplifting story! My dear grandfather was on TPIR in 1978. He was 76 years old at the time. He was such a sweet man and Bob Barker was so good to him. It was one of the greatest highlights of his life. He won a trash compactor and got on stage! My family was all in the audience to watch it happen. Great memories of wonderful times. 💗
@@katemorgan2464 No, I believe that would be the "Microwave oven" and the "VCR". At 15 yrs old in 1978 I didn't know anyone who had a "trash compactor" let alone even know what one was. So yeah jus say'n.😏
The young dad cheering loop at the end was perfect. I can't imagine having a short clip of my dad, half my current age, enjoying one of the most exciting moments of his life... this is a priceless video.
Not only do we get the nostalgia of watching this but then the “ancient Chinese secret”commercial gets shown too. One of my favorite commercials from when I was a kid. ❤❤❤
1:56 She has some great comedic timing under pressure, pulling those one liners out of nowhere with that deadpan delivery … “They wanted a boy” … “I think they made it up” 😂 Getting a genuine hearty laugh out of Barker is pretty good!
I’m from the South, still here, anyway my Mama would say you can always find something funny in every situation and we did and still do! We just said goodbye to her last week. She was just as pretty as Mrs.Teague here, a true Southern Belle, and maintained her beauty up until her passing……. and true to her belief, we found many things funny as we gathered to tell stories and honor her life. She loved the “Price Is Right” too! Don’t take life too seriously and always look for something too laugh or smile about. Sorry for the long post, just felt the need to share. Blessings to you.😀
You think she'd never said those one liners before? I doubt she pulled it out of nowhere. I'm certain she's had to explain her name and joke about it her entire life. Yes, she is sweet and shy, but this clip doesn't prove any type of wit.🤷♀️ *She may indeed BE witty...I'm just debating your assumption. Cheers!
You must cherish this video of your mom. She’s seems like a genuinely nice person. Especially since she mentioned you on it so long ago. Great memories.
I had absolutely no idea what to expect from this video, but i'm glad I watched it. God bless that lady and her family. I hope they're all doing well today
How in the world does this constitute a "Historic" appearance on the price is Right?? LOL Why?? because she was young and cute?? The show tried to have a young and cute female on literally EVERY show! ?? How is this "historic"??
I'm so pleased this video wound up on my suggested list. This was a fantastic story and a much needed reminder of how great those simpler times were. Krieg seems like such a sweetheart of a lady! You have great parents, Beau!
Great? She was told to kiss someone. Back then, women could be sexually harassed and nothing would be done. Even in the workplace. Women still weren't close to being equal in the workplace either. If a man beat up his wife, the cops wouldn't do anything if they came. People died for things that are easily survived today with modern medicine. Granted, we didn't have as much propaganda and conspiracy theories as we do today because of the lack of internet. It wasn't really a simpler time. It was just a different time.
Kreig is just the sweetest soul you can tell…& that’s why she was picked to play. I hope she is still well and wonderful today somewhere ‘winning’ at life. 🤍 Seeing Bob Barker and Kreig Teague interact was the most wholesome thing I’ve seen in years on UA-cam. Beau, thank you for sharing your Mom’s wonderful moment with us.
Sadly, Girls like her are a relict of the past.....cute, sweet, humble, feminine, and pretty.....today the girl would be dressed like a hooker and lecture Bob about his "toxic masculinity". Then (when she didn't win) she'd complain about the patriarchy and her demand for more abortion rights...... and how having sex with 30 different dudes since high school doesn't make her a sloot. LOL
Beau, watching your Mom and Dad win that car was amazing to see. I thank your grandfather for insisting on finding someone with a VCR to make a copy of this so you could share this story with us today!
I would’ve been about 9 years old when this episode aired. I was probably sitting on the carpeted floor of my grandmother’s living room drinking chocolate milk as Mrs. Kreig won that cool car. My older brother and I would stay with my grandmother during the day in the summers while my parents were at work. I was probably sitting too close to the tv too but loving every minute of it. Good times.
I keep coming back to watch this because it puts a smile on my face every time! She is just so sweet, and so pretty, and she has such big beautiful doe-like eyes, and her accent is so cute she just puts a big smile on my face. What an adorable woman Beau is so lucky to have a mother like her she is truly one of God's creatures.
You can tell she worked very hard being a good Mom and wife. Everything she was supposed to do, even in her eyes. Back then you better be those things or the cancel culture would sure have you cast out... People don't remember that small towns had phones and phone circles of gossip........
@@Freddy_Confetti Pointless perhaps, but sweet and innocent. We need more of this in our world today. Sometimes it's not just about the content. It's about the quality.

As a big fan of The Price Is Right, I find this story fascinating! I graduated from high school in 1979 so the time and the items peaked my interest. And the lady was so engaging. Just makes you think of simpler and wholesome times.
Price is Right had to be one of the best tv game shows ever created. I mean nothing got the family gathered around like this show did. Absolutely blessed to have been a kid growing up during these years of our lives, when society was predominantly good and television was educational and entertaining. A better world for us back then
@@JeanLucLaforgeEsq not that the world felt a better place back then , but it was a better place than todays garage ass society. Technology/internet etc…. Has ruined the world.
Not only Price is Right but just all entertainment was better back then. Nothing better than gathering around for your weekly tv show. Also, the same with your favorite band. There was no instant access like there is today so when a new magazine came out or a tv interview, it was super exciting. I tried to tell my daughter how things were more exciting back in the day. She said it would be annoying to have to wait. But we didn’t know any different and the build up, waiting for the things we enjoyed, made it so much better when it did come around.
I agree, and am hoping that by liking and commenting I change my algorithm enough to get more well-told stories like this. What a fun experience to share with the world.
What a sweet and beautiful lady. I am so happy she won the car. Bob was probably thinking NO WAY did that just happen! Thank you Beau for sharing this sweet wholesome story of your Mom.
I just recently lost my big brother. The Price is Right had always been his favorite show even when he was a baby. They said he used to stand in his play pen and watch it and wouldn't move until it went off. It was literally the last show he watched before he went into the hospital. In a weird way brought me comfort and made me smile.
Her enthusiasm is still there after all these years! I remember watching the Price is Right show at the time and the cars were THE prize everyone wanted to win.
@David Armstrong kinda true. I grew up near plano, and all the women down there used to be gourgeous, easy to find beuties, but all that's changed since so many others moved to that area in the last 30+ years.
Mrs. Teague is as cute and nice today as she was back then. Husband Stephen and their children couldn't have a sweeter wife/mother. What a great story, thanks for sharing.
@@SouthernSpice_MamaBear That would've been me! Don't forget on school sick days if you were too sick or lazy to get out of bed to change the channel Perry Mason would always be the show to come on at noon. Anything, but the news at that age & NO remote controls either!😂
@C Jacobs When it got dark or when my mom had to go somewhere without kids we weren't outside. I grew up starting in the early 70's so we were all outside whenever we could. Yay summertime and childhood!!!

I was on in 2015 so thanks to Social Media I have remained friends with several of the other contestants I was on with. Thanks to you and your husband for sharing!
I have a question from when you were on the show. If you won anything, did you have to pay the sales tax for items won plus the income taxes for the market retail value of the prizes you won before you got to collect your prizes?. I'm asking out of curiosity because a friend once told me that you could not get the prizes won until the sales taxes were paid and if you could not afford to do so you forfeit the prizes and they would use them in other shows, plus that you have to claim the full retail value of prizes won on your income tax return?. Asking out of curiosity.
@@shaynad41 I have heard the same thing, and I think that is just horrible, and very sad. A very low income person (for example) wins a car, but can't collect the prize, because they can't afford to pay the tax for the car.
@@shaynad41 I heard about that when Oprah gave everyone in her audience a car. Many declined because it put them in a higher tax bracket and I think it happens with a cash bonus as well. The government always takes the joy out of life!!!!
Thanks for sharing Beau. Such a sweet story. My Mom was on a game-show in 1970 called "Three on a Match," hosted by Bill Cullen (best known for hosting The Joker's Wild). She was the big winner, winning a sailboat, pool table, hi-fi stereo, vacation for 2 to St. Thomas, a BBQ, and a long-time supply of Creamettes, a brand of macaroni. My parents took the vacation to St. Thomas, kept the stereo and BBQ (Charbroil), and sold the sailboat and pool table to pay the taxes for the rest of the prizes. My mom is Italian, and Creamettes was not a brand of pasta that was up to snuff (I believe we were a Ronzoni family then), so my mom would only use the pasta when she'd bring pasta salad to picnics. It took us 16 years to make our way through that pasta. I was less than 1 year old when my Mom was on the show. There were no VCRs back then. I believe my Uncle took a film of the TV when the episode broadcast, the kind that you run through a film projector, but I never saw the episode, which would have been nice. Later she tried out to appear on Wheel of Fortune. Apparently, the try-out process involves traveling to a location and being given a bunch of word puzzles to solve. According to my mom, she was the only one in her "class" to get all the puzzles correct, but alas, she never got the call to appear on the show, and her gameshow career stalled at her one appearance from 1970.
Exactly how my wife was chosen to be a contestant in 1987! The 'line interviewer' asked her, "So what's it like being the mother of four children?" My wife replied, "If you're a mom, you already know!" Yep, she was asked to "... come on down!" She won several appliances and a trip for two!!!! (A couple of months later, we VCR'd the show.) Obtw, we had to declare the winnings on our taxes.
Went to this studio when in the service. They were doing a Memorial day show so the whole audience was active service. During commercials someone brought out a stool for Bob Barker to sit on & he would just talk to the whole audience. Turns out he was a Navy pilot back in the day. Just a great guy & a gentleman. This would have been around 1991 or 92.
Wow! I was 11 years old when this aired. I was instantly transported back in time to what seemed to be such an innocent era. I realize the world was full of problems but when you’re that age you have no real responsibilities which makes life seem simple. Thanks for the post.

That's what you would think, but I have this type of attitude and I've been asked several times "Why are you so "F" happy all the time?" or "How could you be so happy with all the mess going on?". I just shake my head and move along. I try to keep as much distance from people as possible these days because my positive vibe angers people for some reason. It's so nice to come across other happy people.
Thanks for including the Calgon commercial. That one ran for several years, and even now, all these years later, I can quote it verbatim, with timing, tone, and timbre. Stupid that a commercial can bring back such pleasant childhood memories, but that it did.
Remember the one for the dish soap? "Ancient Chinese Secret?" Calgon water softener? Today it was be "bad," but seriously, I met a woman who had that accent recently. So, now it's like everyone has that same Midwest broadcast voice accent if you only watch media

Awesome! Thanks for posting such a fun story! And by the way just for kicks, that $499 microwave in 1979 - that's equivalent to $2,055 today. They were a real luxury item at the time.

For sure, before we had treatments for most cancer, racism was even more prevalent and you didn't have instant access to the sum of human knowledge from your pocket. Not to mention the other massive quality of life improvements to humanity since then. Yeah, let's bring those times back. Fuck me.
I hope you have a southern accent, cause I read your comment with one. (It wasn't a fake one, either, because I've got one, too!😁) Lol, anyway, I was born in '71, (proud Gen Xer!) and I agree with you 100%! My daddy was a career Navy man, so we grew up in Navy housing until I started 9th grade when he retired, so we were sheltered just a little bit more than average. I know things were starting to change, but back then we had no idea... Until we heard about poor Adam Walsh. We happened to be stationed in Orlando when it happened. I can tell you, all my little friends and I were terrified. I had just turned 10, 9 days before he was taken. I even remember my mom being upset about it all. Then, 2 years later I turned 12 and started Jr. High in 7th grade, (I don't think there were middle schools yet. If there were, I had never heard of them in all the different places I'd ever lived) and it was the first time I was going to a school that wasn't all military kids. I was absolutely traumatized for the next 2 years after what I saw on the way to school on my bus. We were less than 1\4 mile from the school when I looked out my window and saw 2 girls who were supposed to be walking to school, on the ground. One girl was on her back, the other sitting on top of her pounding her face in with both fists! I remember exactly what I was saying to myself, and how I felt, like it was yesterday! This is waaay too long and nobody cares, so I'mma just stop here. Sorry! 😁
I miss game shows, 1970's sitcoms, the commercials, and times that we didn't realize at the time of how much simpler the world was compared to current times. Thank you for sharing this nostalgic piece of your lives.

This was excellent, I can remember like it was yesterday watching 👀 The Price is Right back in 79 and the calgon commercial just brought all of the memories home. Thanks for sharing this with us.
I remember growing up and the Price is Right always being on the TV every week day, late morning on the east coast. Can't believe the show is still running so many decades later. Bob Barker was born to entertain.
That is so neat! And the fact that you all will always have this experience on video because of a kind neighbor too share with your future kids and the world now is just awesome! Your parents are too cute ❤️
I clicked on this expecting it to be some scandalous or monumental story about the show, but this was a million times better. Such a sweet and charming lead, such simple joy, and a reminder of how many of our small moments deserve documentary treatment.
Loved watching this! I was in the audience several years ago and everything she said is just how it was. They ask you questions and I literally could tell who they going to pick, at least the ones around me. And the lady standing behind was picked, she won the showcase showdown. Even though I didn't get picked, it was exciting because I had someone to root for!
Looks like she has an Instagram account and has self-published a book on parenting. She seems like a clear-eyed, kind-hearted, grounded woman. Our nation needs more people like her.
Kreig's soft spoken voice, and her overall personality reminds me so much of Precilla Presley! This was in 1970, just a few years before I was born, but I remember the "Calgon" commercials. If you remember them too, I'm sure you remember the bath commercials, where the lady is relaxing in the tub, after a super busy day, or a day of dealing with rambunctious kids! She lays back in the bathtub and says, "Calgon take me away!!" Still to this day, I use that phrase quite often! LoL Life was so much simpler, when I was a kid! But it changes with every generation. Unfortunately to the worst.
Wow that is crazy! I immediately thought how Kreig looked a lot like Priscilla when they did a close-up of her while going to commercial after winning the car. Loved how they put the "ancient Chinese secret" commercial for Calgon in there and I remember the bathtub one too! I was born in the 70s... yes a much simpler time
YUP I hear ya, I sort of wish life was simpler too, funny how we seem to recollect the best thimgs huh I'm glad to have memories of simpler easier times though .

It's fun to look at the old cars from 1979 from the Price is Right. I'm happy for her that she won a car on the show, and seeing her husband excited was pure joy. XO
This was really fun! Born in 1965, I grew up watching The Price Is Right daily--for all I know, I saw this episode when it aired in the late 70s. Also, I've been on a reality TV show, and I know how strange it can be to discover yourself on camera, being seen by a huge audience that you can't see, and you only get to see it yourself later. So it was fascinating hearing your parents tell their own back-story! Thank you for sharing, and congrats to your folks.

So true. This was a sweet story. Beau is now 48, and their girl is 45. My, how time flies.
Let's go back Jason!

Then, 2 years later I turned 12 and started Jr. High in 7th grade, (I don't think there were middle schools yet. If there were, I had never heard of them in all the different places I'd ever lived) and it was the first time I was going to a school that wasn't all military kids. Thanks for your comment. I thought same thing and checked comments first to see if I could find out before watching it lol. Such a cute story!
I thought the same thing too but she won a few good things
This was excellent, I can remember like it was yesterday watching 👀 The Price is Right back in 79 and the calgon commercial just brought all of the memories home. Thanks for sharing this with us.
I remember growing up and the Price is Right always being on the TV every week day, late morning on the east coast. Can't believe the show is still running so many decades later. Bob Barker was born to entertain.
That is so neat! And the fact that you all will always have this experience on video because of a kind neighbor too share with your future kids and the world now is just awesome! Your parents are too cute ❤️
Oh Beau - what a lucky guy you are to have Kreig as your Mother. Bob was right, what a sweet lady.
I clicked on this expecting it to be some scandalous or monumental story about the show, but this was a million times better. Such a sweet and charming lead, such simple joy, and a reminder of how many of our small moments deserve documentary treatment.
I remember this. She was so adorable! I'm glad she won, and that she is still so amazing ❤️
Beautiful story. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would.
I was thinking the same what a genuine human being,in the best way possible!!❤
@Repent and believe in Jesus Christ What is it I have to repent for?
Totally agree 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍✅
AGREE 💯👍💯
@Repent and believe in Jesus Christ - Stop shoving your demented, nonsensical BS down everyone’s throats.
She lays back in the bathtub and says, "Calgon take me away!!"
Still to this day, I use that phrase quite often! LoL
Life was so much simpler, when I was a kid! But it changes with every generation. Unfortunately to the worst.
This was actually 1979 Barker said the car she won was a brand new 1979 car.
I was born in 82 and I remember calgon commercials
This was in 1979, not 1970
Did you even watch the video?
Wow that is crazy! I immediately thought how Kreig looked a lot like Priscilla when they did a close-up of her while going to commercial after winning the car. Loved how they put the "ancient Chinese secret" commercial for Calgon in there and I remember the bathtub one too! I was born in the 70s... yes a much simpler time
YUP I hear ya, I sort of wish life was simpler too, funny how we seem to recollect the best thimgs huh I'm glad to have memories of simpler easier times though .
This is a fabulous story! It’s a great insight on how they REALLY selected the contestants. It was a great choice because she’s cute and has an adorable personality. It’s also cool to learn that she became an author.
This has been popping up in my feed for days and kept not watching it. I had a super crappy day at work today and decided to watch. So glad I did. First laugh I had all day. She’s so sweet. So glad I finally watched. Thanks for posting!
She is just as beautiful and adorable and sweet in that interview as she was back on the show! I used to watch this show with my grandma all the time! I love Kreig’s name and I just noticed, this is her son’s account! 🤗 Your mama could have been one of Charlie’s Angels, she’s so likable, genuine and beautiful! ♥️
Edit: I was so happy she won that car!!! Very cool story!
My Aunt, from Houston, was exactly the same. She had level of charm that could warm up an entire room and was the sweetest woman I’ve ever known.
Oh man, I read this too early! Maybe put "Spoiler" in your comment 😂😂😂
@@nikkiflippy007 Oh dang, sorry! 😬
She is cute.
She is Kate Jacksons' double.
What a great story, and what a perfect ending! The delivery guy for your prize recognized you from your episode! Amazing!
When I read the title of this video clip, I thought this was a story about her having a bad experience as a contestant on this game show, and it was just the opposite.
It's fun to look at the old cars from 1979 from the Price is Right.
I'm happy for her that she won a car on the show, and seeing her husband excited was pure joy. XO
Don't you miss this??? It was actually exciting watching this show!
I'm a '65 also ... This show impressed on me the importance of 'KNOWING' prices. everyONE knew it wasn't a 'random' selection but it was a GREAT SHOW.
I can't believe how much I enjoyed watching this. Now I want to see more videos like this. The late 70s and early 80s were the best times, for me anyway.
Even millennials and gen z hated the 2010s.
Same for me only the 80’s and 90’s ✨
Yep !! 70's and 80's were the absolute best times to grow up in !!!!!!
Yes me too!
I love the old "Password" game show. They are available on UA-cam! Have fun! ♡
Wow,what a joyous show. Ten out of ten! That Texas charm is the best. Kreig is a total angel. 😂😂😂❤️
