@@khateatingcactus yep! Just look for a tall ships company for your area and depending on the company, they’ll have canon battles included in their public tour. I’m not sure where you’re from but there’s lots of them here in Canada and the US.
Most of the steering is done by sail, not rudder. Rudder can steer a ship to certain degree, but it would not be able to bring it against the wind, making some bearing (dependent on the wind direction) is useless to be turned to using rudder. It should be known that the ship of old is propelled by wind, not engine. Only when engine is installed a ship is turned by rudder wholly.
+Thomas Emard you are right in all the above... but keep in mind, he is the capt and he gets to live out this fantasy regardless if he knows this history or not, his job is to sail the ship , being a historian is a plus but not required... you get your fantasy by sitting at home infront of your computer spitting out what you know in the face of others who dont know this history i clear sea that .
Now imagine the ships being twice as large
try 10 or 20x if you’re meaning the biggest battleships of the period
What type of reenacting is this and how do I sign up
Lmfao I did this. There are tons of brigantine sailing organizations in cities near water. Just look for one in your area.
@@kiraparker-oxford9288 is it really that easy to just find and sign up for?

I was born a few hundred years to late, I know the life was short and hard. But idgaf
Does architect are responsible for creating galleon ships????
realistically could a vessel take one direct hit on the rudder and be rendered immobile?
The sails would carry the ship, it would be hard to steer though
You can steer from the lower decks using block and tackle instead of a tiller.

Li Shen I know history but idgaf about cannon reloading records
Battle? They’re firing like 1 gun at a time. These aren’t even close to warships. They’re like someone’s sailing yacht with 1 cannon on it 🤣
