@@sebastianescalante5618 At first I thought those were weird enemy chants, then I realized it's actually Arle's chants in response to the enemy's attacks xD
This is a TAS (tool assisted) battle probably between two (or maybe someone doing it by himself) human players. Needless to say it's better than any videos of people playing in real time. Just a little info if you're not getting it - when you do a huge combo, you 'send lines' over to your opponent, but stuff doesn't start dropping until your combo finishes. So while your combo is going on, your opponent is building up his own combo to counter. So when your combo finishes, he starts his, which first cancels any damage you sent over to his side, and then starts sending damage over to your side. And so it continues... 0:38 19 chain
So, a little entertaining thing to note for anyone who may not know: From what I've learned, depending on the game and ruleset, clearing garbage Puyo adds to the damage sent in a chain. The later in the chain a garbage Puyo is cleared, the more damage is sent over. That is why in some cases, a smaller chain does as much damage as an 18-chain. There's also a rule where the longer a battle lasts the more garbage is sent, even in smaller chains, as kind of an incentive to knock your opponent out quickly.
Legend says these two fought anew and kept going till today, when the margin time has made even the lowliest of 1 chains completely fill the queue. Now they cannot be separated, as they have become one already.
Imagine how Puyo battles would work. Obviously we know by the english games that the characters are shouting stuff that sound like attacks from some sort of RPG, which means that they are indeed fighting. Could it be that the combo building is just them preparing a series of ridiculously strong attacks, and the supposed defense against these combos is them, well, defending themselves by launchhcing other attacks?
Personally my headcanon is that the gameplay *is* the battles. Big chains produce enough energy for the characters to use magic spells and other such attacks.

72speedway Really? I thought all clears just sent more garbage with the current chain.
The all-clear sign stays on screen until you clear at least one puyo, at which point it will send 1 rock.
I consider the ones who nullify 6 crown attacks a master.
Well, you also have to count in margin time
I had that once
plays in fever and does a player made 13 chain
With margin time, anything is possible.

In Japan this is considerated normal gaming xD
Haveorc you also forgot to mention that only one wave of blocks comes out after a combo not all the blocks at once :P
"one wave" meaning 30 blocks (five rows, one red icon at the top)

Puyo Puyo is a spin-off of an RPG game, and popping Puyos is pretty much like getting mana to cast spells. So kind of... yes.
