- Crossing the Claiborne Pell bridge ( Newport, RI ) and the Jamestown Verrazzano bridge in Rhode Island. I have to cross both of these bridges to get off / on the island I live on.
If I am traveling from Pawtucket, going to Middletown, do I need to go over of any of those bridges ?
I’m wondering the same thing because I’m so afraid of heights.
@@nikki5674 , yes there is no way I can drive over those bridges. If there is not another way, I would have to take public transportation to get there...
This is cool... Thanks for sharing!
That's crazy not to have dividers on a bridge.
If it was the Claiborne pell (Newport Rhode Island) and Verrazano narrows bridges then it would be a better video with two similarly towered suspension bridges
I have to agree with you on that specific fact about it Steve Carras.
Let's rev it up!
Hi there, may we please use a few seconds of video in a TV news story ?
The Verrazzano bridge replaced an old very narrow bridge, that was pretty scary to cross. The Pell bridge replaced a ferry system that was obviously more scenic but a lot slower. The ferry's would leave both Jamestown and Newport every half hour. My feeling is Newport/Jamestown lost a lot when they built the Pell Bridge. If you watched the video you can see what you got with the bridge, but you can only imagine what is was like to drive your car onto a ferry and cross the bay in a much different time.
thats a long ass bridge
I hate heights but I still miss the old Jamestown Bridge, it was part of a daily commute from Portsmouth to URI for quite awhile.
The old Jamestown bridge was very scary on Rainy nights those killer metal grates
