Our today’s interviewee:
Stefan Siekliński (1928-2021), nom de guerre “Stefek”, soldier of the National Armed Forces, member of the group commanded by Leopold Siekliński “Poldek”, which belonged to the unit led by Henryk Flame “Bartek.” During the occupation, the Germans sent him to work in a bakery. One winter day, when Siekliński was on his way to work, he encountered a group of Germans, who checked his papers and let him go. Farther down the road he saw three corpses - most likely victims executed by the Germans. During the advance of the Red Army he witnessed the rape of his female friend by a Soviet soldier. After the war Siekliński cooperated with the National Armed Forces group commanded by Henryk Flame “Bartek.”
Siekliński talks about the gunfight between the group led by Edward Biesok and the company of military men and the militia, who was tasked with the liquidation of partisan units operating in the Beskid Mountains. Edward Biesok was trying to reason with the militiamen, but during his speech he was treacherously shot to death, which resulted in a shoot-out that claimed the lives of nine militiamen. On the orders of “Bartek”, the soldiers buried Edward Biesok in a location that was unknown to the communists.
