It's crazy to hear two extremely different versions of the story. The version I just gave, I really don't remember the source so you could count it as the bullshit version.

Some pro wrestlers were known to talk smack and think they could do it themselves, much like some pro wrestlers in Japan went to Pride and tried. Turns out fake fighters vs pro fighters isn't really much of a match up i doubt there is some big conspiracy here. The bookers thought they had a good idea. It flopped. Happens how many times a year for how long in pro wrestling. Brawl for All... It might have just been MMA was crazy popular at the time. Some pro wrestlers were known to talk smack and think they could do it themselves, much like some pro wrestlers in Japan went to Pride and tried. Someone figured out we can make some cash off of this. They were wrong but it makes sense why they tried. Turns out fake fighters vs pro fighters isn't really much of a match up
i doubt there is some big conspiracy here. The bookers thought they had a good idea. It flopped. Happens how many times a year for how long in pro wrestling. I don't doubt some of these can fight at the level of punching some random dude in a bar but vs an actual MMA fighter, most are going to fold.

Scripted wrestling is very different from street fighting. Most of these wrestlers would get their asses beat in street fights, except a few like Blackman, Rude and Haku. Against trained MMA fighters, they would be on the ground and out cold in no time.
I find mma fighters to be cream puff pussies who make demands of stripping away half your arsenal to be forced to fight them at a disadvantage. It’s no be all end all of fighting whatsoever. I hold a 3-0 record against my local mma dojo, and their fighters are whiny excuse making pussies.
