When they hug each other like we humans do is amazing.
How could people look at the amazing animals- any animal - and be so cruel and heartless? Those people are wired different - for real. Thank you for help , dedication and love for them❤
It's hard for me to be able to understand how our government can allow these DANGEROUS animals and the loons that care for them to set up such a dangerous facility around neighborhoods, schools,etc. Despise what these seemingly intelligent folks are tryin to portray, these creatures are extremely dangerous and unpredictable. This isn't curious George for Pete's sake. They have to be separated by glass or love wires to receive treatment and food. In my opinion the taxpayers and other stakeholders would have been much better served by donating them to the Army Rangers for target practice.

These useless apes are a total waste of valuable resources. This pissed me off to see when we still have families living out of their cars unable to pay rent. I'm supposed to care if these vile nasty creature are " enriched" and get to choose to have a "play date" or not? This is pathetic, they should have been euthanized a long time ago, and the funding should be re appropriated to a more worth while cause like homeless families or abused women and children. There evil creatures have it way too good. I'll be happy to donate as many rifles and shovels that they need though.
Them chimps have never been outdoors nor climbed trees but first time they do it seems so natural and like they've been always doing it.
We owe this to then, as they have helped mankind find cures for diseases. It is only fitting we pay it forward.

The labs that have experiments with these animals need to step up big time and make large and often donations to help take care of all the animals that need to be sent here to live out what is left of their so far crappy lives they have had to live!!!!! They are owed at least that much for all the years of hell the labs put them through. I thank everyone that helps here and donates to this beautiful organization. This makes me feel so happy for all of the chimp's who've lived most of their lives in lab's. They are deserving of freedom and the best possible care we can provide. I'd love to visit the chimp sanctuary. 🌿❤🌿
OMG I'm so thrilled @ happy,excited and grateful that at least these chimps are going to actually have and enjoy a life!! The make hugging the female for the first time in his entire life, being so gentle, careful not to hurt her. How heartbreakingly sweet is that?? Oh to be young again and able to go work at one of these places!!! It's got to be so rewarding in oh so many ways!!! Blessed be the primates and the humans who love and care for them!!!!
It's hard to stop from touching them because we're used to touching each other and our pets ❤❤

Edit: 17:10 my heart breaks for da atrocities they been subjected 2. The touching scenes at 19:40, is kinda hard 2 watch(for me emotionally), knowing they've never had a caring gentle embrace(or contact in general).

It was heartbreaking even if a happy moment, I don't know how old those chimps were but they had never before had the chance to embrace a chimp of the opposite sex.
How beautiful can it be? Just awesome ! Is I am so happy for these beautiful creatures. They have been through such misery for human kind. I think we owe them what ever we can do. I love seeing the compassion from the staff. Just beautiful

I'd plant a bunch of fruit trees for them to eat on in the summer to help out on food bill and it would let them do for there self as we all like to do right

When I was a pharmacy student we went through Dow in Indianapolis. They had 5 or 6 chimps in rather small cages for chimps at the facility. They used them for respiratory testing. I hope you or another sanctuary has them.We had to wear masks to protect the chimps. The employees there said the chimps would stick their fingers in the cage next to them and get fingers bitten off. The hand surgeons practiced by sewing fingers back on.

I want to visit or volunteer if possible. oops, maybe not volunteer, since I just saw on the video that you can get "IN", but "Getting OUT" is a different problem---LOL. and "you don't want to be alone" with a chimpanzee." I didn't know that!!! I am so, so glad these guys got saved. tears. now I saw the video and info, and since I'm in FL I can visit!!! and I will. I never cry, and God gave a few tears before I even watched the video. now I know why. HE knows what's going on, every step these chimps ever took, in the labs and now free to be themselves. They can be very dangerous. There was a woman that raised one for years. It attacked her friend. Tore her face off. I believe the woman was the first recipient of a face transplant.
Why do humans feel they have the right to domesticate wild animals, feed them unsuitable food and then complain when they get hurt by them 🤔 A lot of people are selfish and DUMB! everyone gets the Karna they deserve.....thank you God for that 😢

Why do You think that Michael Jackson gave away his beloved pet chimpanzee after he reached about age 5? I’ve read a lot about this and seen a lot of videos and it seems that when the chimps reach puberty at around age 5, they become extremely dangerous. They are simply adorable as babies, but they are wild animals and are meant to be left in the wild. They are not meant to be treated as human babies, fed like humans and dressed in silly outfits.
That poor woman in Connecticut has her face entirely ripped off by a So-called friends chimpanzee when the friend was called over to help because the chimpanzee had got loose. When the police responded, as they had before, the chimp, high on Xanax, turned on them and tried to kill them.

I live in North Georgia and I’d like to volunteer at the sanctuary, however, I will obey all safety rules! I’ve seen that poor woman’s face, or what’s left of it, who lives in Connecticut and was almost killed by a chimp!

I wish zoos saved a long strip of land like this for all their mammals to get some exercise and Atleast alternate them out. Polar bear and bear enclosures look the worst all they do is pace.
It seems to me that a lot of the zoos on the East Coast were built in a day where that wasn’t a consideration. I feel like they should all be relocated to more open areas where they have the ability to do exactly what you say.
If you see a zoo with animals in those conditions contact PETA or some organization that is willing to listen a help save an animal from those conditions. Start a petition. People like us can help save and change their lives. We have to be their voices
im thankful the zoo I live near has large exhibits and hidey places for all animals. Garlyn Zoo is a great zoo, they have wild chickens running around everywhere and some accidently fly into the predators encloses. Adds for more stimuli, and the chickens have a cagefree fun life with tourists feeding them.
End animal experiments. End zoos and captive animals. End animals being in cages.

The things we do to animals - farmed, wild and (so-called) domesticated...it makes you weep.
Every time you do not demand that your lawmakers stop the torture and abuse of animals, every time you elect officials who do not passionately advocate for animals in every way....you are contributing to their suffering. Every time you eat meat or dairy you contribute to the suffering and torture of animals with thoughts and feelings.
Instead of assuming that animals are stupid and without feeling until we have absolute proof 🙄 why do we not instead assume that they *do* have these attributes? Because it serves our greedy purpose to think them lesser than us. Thinking them stupid and without feeling, we can use them for our benefit and just look the other way.
It’s great to see these poor animals in any kind of freedom. But they should not have been taken from the wild or bred for these experiments anyway. Lab testing is a notoriously bad way of researching anyway. We have no rights over other creatures. We certainly have no moral rights over them. No benefit to mankind is worth what we have done and continue to do to animals.
We are barbaric, cruel, inhuman humans. As long as it doesn’t affect us negatively, we’re okay with nice things being done for these chimps, for once. But we’ll continue to look the other way while the experiments carry on and other animals are tortured out of sight. Think of beagles strapped to boards and mutilated. Cats with their heads strapped in place so that ingredients for cosmetics, perfumes and toiletries can be placed in their eyes. Animals operated on, injected with poisons and diseases, watched while they suffer and die...
Would any other animals do those things to us? No. They might attack us if we’re a threat. They might even kill us. But they wouldn’t torture us and watch and talk about it and ignore our suffering for decades until we die of old age.
We are barbaric. We are ‘animals’ unlike any other. They are better than us.

I couldn't imagine being a scientist doing experiments on any animal and then going home to my family and lying about how the animals are doing their bit to help mankind and say they are being well looked after. Then your child want to come to work to see the chimps, You'd always have to lie and make excuses why they can't come see the work you really do. Gee the worst or best thing would be if the children grew up to be animal activists. How would it be explained to them about being a cruel barbaric heartless butcher then. I wouldn't be so sure. My cat Barbara takes great pleasure in torturing me. She moves my bedroom door backwards and forwards by just an inch because she knows the resultant squeaking will invoke my ire and I'll have to get up to feed her. Evil Barbara. Creation is so amazing
It's a small step in the right direction. We owe them so much, I'm glad to see that some of these fortunate animals are given some freedom. I hope science finds a better way to progress without the suffering of any creatures.
I feel so bad for these poor chimps. We need a huge giant outdoor sanctuary for these animals where there safe and can be fed. Being locked up still after being in labs just awful:/ they deserve to roam free and always at all times feel safe.
They don't always feel safe in the wild. There are a myriad of dangers in the wild, from predators to venomous ground dwelling creatures, to threats from their own heirarchical family group to rival groups. This idea that the wild is somehow chimp utopia is bizarre. I'm sure these beautiful complex intelligent and aggressive chimps will do just fine in this sanctuary

U can see that when the male hugs the female,he is breathing so fast,just like what happens with us when we meet someone for the first time on a date or something and she reassured him by putting her arms around him,now tell me that is not as close to human as u can get!?!?

This is so wonderful that we now have primates being loved and taken care of in the U.S. It's long overdue. It thrills my heart to know they're here safe and OUT OF LABS. I've always HATED seeing them in those dreary depressing cages with nothing but fear in their minds for what awaits them the next day. That's heartbreaking to know humans did that to someone as close to being us as you can get without actually being us. Look what they've done to their spirits and souls. Some very broken. Those we'll never see on a special program, because until they're rehabilitated enough it's to overwhelming for us to see what has been done to them. The male and female that just met hugged, smelled, just explored one another because they'd never been able to do it before. They probably never knew there was someone out there that was the same, but yet very different in many ways. It's heartbreaking to know that was done to them against their will. How many baby chimps were stolen from their mothers just to be, for the lack of a better word, guinea pig for labs. Now we can rejoice with every hug they get and give each other. It makes my heart literally jump for their joy as I watched the male and female show each other their trust, respect, comfort and affection. Maybe some humans could learn a few things from THEM. When you're not a threat to me, or out to hurt or use me, you deserve my unconditional love and I yours! God bless every staff member keeping this sanctuary going! Chimps in the wild make tools to use on termite mounds, as they said in the program. Why don't they make artificial termite mounts with holes/chambers filler with goodies like peanut butter,yogurt, pudding etc. That would be great enrichment and it could be moved from 1 enclosure for a day, cleaned and used in another enclosure the next. This way the chimps would only get the manmade termite mound once in a while as enrichment. All it would take is some creat mix to make a slab and when it gets almost dry add another layer and so on till they have a termite mount shape. Drill holes in it to fit a deep plastic test tube, so the tubes could be taken out and cleaned. I don't know how they would lock the tube into place but I am sure someone could figure that out. I think that would mimic natural behavior and could keep them busy alk day
This is an absolute waste of money and valuable resources on these useless apes who should have been euthanized a long time ago. It's an enormous cost to keep these things alive, yet we still have families living out of their car? A perfect example of screwed up priorities. Compare the money being wasted on them currently, compare that with the cost of a bullet and shovel. Its a no brainer to me. I dont give 2 sh':'ts if these vile disgusting creatures get to choose their day. I want to see families struggling to feed their kids get to " choose" what they feed their kids for dinner. SMH

The Chimpanzees that have been used to test chemotherapy, have hair loss, they have gone blind and they most likely have migraine head aches.
When I went through chemotherapy I had those symptoms. To relieve those symptoms I used, L-Lysine 2 or 3 times a day to relieve the pain it also helped bring back my eye sight and hair. L-Lysine helps build your protein that was depleted by the chemotherapy.
No more testing on living creatures !
It only takes a small fraction to support them n these retirement homes than they spend on housing them & experimenting on them!!! The government needs to step up on that!!

Even cats think about the future -- cats know going in the car often means visiting the vet -- how can any complex animal not plan? A pregnant cat will plan for the delivery for finding a nesting site. So of course chimps plan for the future.

Since the 1800s, men have studied the subject of self-awareness/consciousness in animal species, infant humans + related topics and probably Aristotle and B.C. Egyptian philosophers did too. You are correct - that was ignorant, the internet is chock-full of research available. In a fascinating and fun way, there is a man + wife on UA-cam who have dedicated their lives to documenting jungle animals responding to huge mirrors in Africa. Families/herds of elephants, lions, every variety of simian, monkey ate baboon etc., pumas tigers + other cats, and a gazillion other species I can't think of right now. No bears that I recall. (We spent a year being addicted to that channel!). One of the most interesting things was to see how the parents/older members of an animal family group could only view the reflection as an enemy combatant other, but the little child animal soon was able to recognize it was himself he saw after some repeat viewings. Grown ups never "got it". (I forget which species that was, maybe jaguar?) Also interesting was when two species wanted to play with the huge mirrors at the same time, who would concede to whom? I vaguely remember the elephants winning a lot.. Sorry to ramble, I forgot how good that channel was, I think I'm going to have to try to find it again!
I've watched those giant mirror vids, they're fantastic. I was in total awe when a silver back repeatedly displayed and charged his own reflection seeing only a challenge to his status. Truly powerful and awe inspiring. If you put a red dot on a toddlers face you can gauge whether or not they recognise themselves or another toddler. The dog I was referring to was the pet of a good friend and we'd been out walking in the woods and I filmed us, when we got home I replayed the footage on a TV and his dog became very animated excited and barked as he saw himself and us earlier that day. It was a magical experience but my friend was totally non plussed knowing just how smart his dog was already. There you go, I end on a rambling tip, just like you.

Place a large group of children in a isolated habitat, with everything they need to survive... Then come back 20 years later... Throw them the instructions and all the tools, materials and supplies to build a airplane... see how many generations pass before they figure it out....
1st, you have absolutely no idea what a truly feral human is like... even the uncontacted feral humans of the isolated tribes rely on much more innovation than you know... They're not completely feral.
Truly feral humans would be nothing more than animals. Just as apes, they would have communication but, not language. Picture books might not even have any meaning to them, if the instructions to build the plane were laid out even in the simplest of forms, it most likely would be incomprehensible.
I'd venture to say it would be just as easy to teach a group of chimps how to build one as it would a group of feral humans....

we have a strong connection with chimpanzees, that's why we feel they should be captured and used as experiments so that they are kept close to us. Not to mention destroying their habitat and keeping them in prison for pretty much their entire lives. But eventually we will let them out into a larger enclosure, with barbed electrified fences so that our connection remains strong

These useless apes are a total waste of valuable resources. This pissed me off to see when we still have families living out of their cars unable to pay rent. I'm supposed to care if these vile nasty creature are " enriched" and get to choose to have a "play date" or not? This is pathetic, they should have been euthanized a long time ago, and the funding should be re appropriated to a more worth while cause like homeless families or abused women and children. There evil creatures have it way too good. I'll be happy to donate as many rifles and shovels that they need though.
