As a person who lived there top things to do go to wharf and buy directly from the fisherman...just ask someone local or go to redhead wharf during fishing season........visit downtown including canton cafe on queen street for the best Chinese ever....also cows ice cream...........visit a beach on both north and south ( there is a difference ) I like the south shore warmer water just ask any friendly islander direction of their fav spot..if u like crowded brackley beach on the north shore...south shore any beach in or around the rocky point area 17 km from Charlottetown for the best donairs EVER visit Grecco Donair and pizza best donair and donair egg rolls /\

For some reason no one talks about the MOSQUITO PROBLEM! Dont forget that June is basically a write-off if you hate mosquitos. July too actually. Bring a mosquito-net hat and something to do indoors at nught whike they are SWARMING like a horror movie!!! So August is your only chance to do all the things in this video! Pretty decent in August.
If you have a knitter in your group you may want to add the "fiber train" to your itinerary. My wife loved it this year in spite of having already chased such things in 7 other provinces already (we still had not made it to NS and NL yet for the 150)
Red shores horse races are a great cultural experience.Cavendish beach is a good one too.And the Story of Confederation at Confederation centre of arts is time well spent for history buffs.Thanks for posting your video.

I visited Green Gables and a pink beach nearby it. It was nighttime, so the house was closed, but I was still able to park on the grounds there, and walk on the trail by it, completely undisturbed

I have been to PEI twice and I have a seafood allergy. They are also known for their beef and potatoes! There were always plenty of options for me to choose. Best times of my life. I hope you make the trip!

When a fictional character, complete with her authentic fictional house is a main attraction, you know it's pretty lame. Just spent a month there. Pretty place to visit, and nice beaches when there's no jelly fish to sting you, and Charlottetown has a nice tourist section, but apart from that, it's pretty boring. Go when the jellies are gone, like late July, and plan to spend a ton of time on the beach.
It's funny but most Easterners (be they Islanders or Nova Scotians) would have died of shame decades back if they had to eat lobster. And NOBODY ate mussels. I remember as a kid seeing them on the wooden props of the wharves at low tide and thinking, how disgusting that they eat these things in France.
The same with Scotland where my parents were born, the lobsters went to France, London places like that ..they weren't all that appetizing & the $ was more important they got for them
@@Scalihoo Same in the West Indies where I lived for a while - although there lobsters are a different species without the big claws. The Jamaicans call them 'red spiders' and won't touch them. Now, with mussels, here on Prince Edward Island in Canada, they are all grown very carefully and are completely safe to eat. But here, the last thing anyone would eat are sea urchins - which in sushi as roe, I just love. One day some years back in Malta I spent the day in a little cove prying urchins open and slurping down the roe. And in Ukraine I just gobbled up 'raki', the freshwater crayfish they all eat. A lot of it is about both basic human reluctance to eat weird things versus the human ability to try anything - if you're hungry, and then discover how tasty it can be!
@@cerberus6654 I do like to try different seafoods, one thing I shy away from is raw fish I love the taste of sushi but have diverticulitis I can still eat good but have cut certain foods from my diet. I made fishcakes tonight for dinner using pollock ..excellent !

Delicate, like lobster but sweeter. I asked for another plate. My host hesitated for a moment then ordered another. A year or so later I read that they are about as expensive ounce for ounce as gold - and I felt a sense of guilt. For a second, not much more.

Anne of Green Gables never existed yet we use 'her' to get more people to come to this god forsaken tourist trap. Most of our industry is seasonal and if you're looking for opportunities you should go/stay out west. I'm not saying these things because I dislike tourists and immigrants, I'm saying these things because PEI is the worst province in Canada to do anything. This place is where small businesses come to die. This place is where the young get stuck and have no where to go but six feet under the ground. This place will kill your dreams, eat you up, and shit you out. Just remember, this place looks nice but don't try to live here, you'll regret every second you waste.

Just found this out the hard way in Souris with a cottage rental. We couldn’t go outside even with OFF on. Horrendous mosquito problem.
