Also Arizona is the first team to lose to a 15 seed twice as a 2 seed because 30 years ago they lost to Santa Clara which was a team led by Steve Nash, who became one of the all time greats in the NBA playing for the PG position.
For those who felt on top of the world after picking Virginia to lose but then get hit with this 2 hours later… I’m here if you want to talk.

Man if you picked Arizona to go to the final four or the championship there was already something wrong with you. I believed they could maybe make the elite 8 but for anyone who picked them farther than that, you’re an idiot.

@@obsidian00 In my opinion I thought this was the 3rd most likely 15 over 2. I had Colgate as the most likely, Vermont 2nd, Princeton 3rd, and UNC-Asheville as the least likely. We’ll see what happens with Colgate but they cut a 17 point deficit down to 9 at halftime so anything is possible.

*2021: Oral Roberts reached the Sweet 16
*2022: Saint Peter's reached the Elite 8
*2023: Princeton beats Arizona
This is the first time a 15 seed has won in 3 straight tournaments.

In the span of two hours, I went from bragging to everyone that I had Furman upsetting Virginia to then have all 5 of my brackets screwed with Princeton beating Arizona. I had Arizona going all the way to the Quarters

I said it all year. Arizona guards were the weak link, with the exception of Boswell. They played scared and unsure. Hope this does not hurt their recruiting. I am also second-guessing the coach. A team this talented should not have lost the games it did as double-digit favorites. Horrible loss! No excuses.

Arizona fan here. Completely embarrassing. Every loss this season has been to an unranked team. We just love to play down to the level of our opponent.
30 years later after the Steve Nash led Santa Clara team beat a #2 Arizona team, now the Princeton Tigers have pulled off the upset as well. Arizona just finds more and more ways to choke the tournament. Next thing you know they’ll be a 1 seed in a future tournament and lose to a 16 seed by the rate of the choke jobs they pull off. That or get blown out by a 8/9 seed

i didn't fill out any brackets, and I watch mostly Big 10 and Ivy basketball, but Arizona was one of the most impressive teams I saw this season, I saw their game with Indiana before a highly pro-IU crowd in Las Vegas. IU played well that night but Arizona ran them off the court in the end, I wasa impressed.

'65, '67, '89 (almost), '96... some credit the '89 one point loss to Georgetown as the tipping point that kept small schools in the tournament because it created so much excitement and energy. This was pre-internet. People were on the phone, on their land lines calling each other saying "are you seeing this game?" Look it up.

The FACT that a #15 has beaten a #2 multiple years in a row SCREAMS the selection committee doesn't know WTF they're doing when seeding these teams. If Princton had the talent to beat a #2 then either Princeton was ranked too low or Arizona was ranked too high. Either way, they just guess at these teams rankings when they get to 12 - 16 seeds.
