Who would have thought that heavy, classical-influenced prog-meisters Van Der Graaf would do a version of 'Je t'aime'? Who says that they don't have a sense of humour?
RONCEVAUX grande brano PROG ROCK GOTHIC!!!!!!!!
Pezzo davvero NIGHMARISH !!!!
This is blowing my mind! I have/ had this on a legitimate cassette in the 80s (early?) and it was so bad that it was unlistenable. I basically wrote off this material. But on here, some of this sounds fine, great!
I'd second that. Every time I hear it I think what a shame Roncevaux wasn't front and centre along with A Louse Is Not A Home and In The Black Room on the 'follow-up' to Pawn Hearts. It's a compelling track.
Come esempio lalbum di Peter Hammill,NADIR'S BIG CHANCE , e l'album dei VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR, The QUIET ZONE THE PLEASURE DOME, !!!!!!!!
King Crimson meu ponto fraco!
I'd be waiting for the A train in Manhattan, and the Vendors on the Platforms would sell different items: One of those items were VDGG album's for 2 Bucks. You never knew what you'd find. For year's I did this. Eventually he disappeared, but not before I collected a pile of great stuff.
I like this raw album, specially IT ALL WENT RED, THE LIQUIDATOR, RONCEVAUX, BLACK ROOM and TARZAN. TARZAN is fantastic. It is VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR doing DISCO. The sax howl at 11:44 sounds like a TARZAN cry.... LOL..... Parts o RIFT VALLEY were later used in Meurglys III (7:15 onwards).
''Liquidator''' definitely has a Sparks flavour and Coil Night'' definitely has a great groove with potential and ''Ronceveaux'' sounds like it is almost the finished article and could have been truly awesome ! Peter really should finish / rework some of these fabulous embryonic pieces.
Faint and Forsaken is a great medley of Faint Heart and the Sermon & Forsaken Gardens off of PHs In Camera album (and The Silent Corner and the Empty Stage)....imo
New box set "The Charisma years" sounded a must have - a colossal 20 disc set...Awesome music on discs 1 to 13 ...but a big disappointment after disc 13 as 3 discs were Blue Ray DVDs which I cannot watch on my regular DVD player, and a further 4 discs were "New Stereo mixes" of albums already in the box on earlier discs.Still,I hope a similar Hammill solo set appears.
I don't think IT ALL WENT RED is based on any previous VDGG song. I think it is an original tune with some great sax solos probably improvised. It is a shame this song wasn't properly recorded, because it is beautiful, bleak, sinister at times and moody.
I haven't heard anything from this album. It doesn't even sound like VDGG. Did Peter Hamill take vacation? Joke album? Some time I'll get the story on this album that I never knew to exist
Here's what Wiki sez...... "The album contains out-takes and rehearsal recordings from the period 1972-1975, when the band was on hiatus. The recordings "are not studio-quality recordings",[2] some of them have even a quite bad audio quality full of distortions. Among others, it contains before unreleased pieces taken from first rehearsals by the reformed Van der Graaf Generator from 1975, like the tough song "Rift Valley". The bad sounding rehearsal versions of "Roncevaux" and "Black Room" are 2 songs played live in mid-1972, and were originally intended for a probable next album in late 1972. "Coil Night" features Peter Hammill on bass guitar and David Jackson on piano. The title track "Time Vaults" is a collage consisting of several unreleased pieces mixed with studio chatter. A different version of "Black Room" appeared on Peter Hammill's solo album Chameleon in the Shadow of the Night. "Faint and Forsaken" is a combination of the instrumental middle passages of "Forsaken Gardens" and "Faint-Heart and the Sermon", different versions of which appeared on Peter Hammill's solo albums The Silent Corner and the Empty Stage and In Camera respectively." Personally, some of the vocals put me in mind of Daryll Hall's solo album with Fripp!!!
This is most excellent! Thanks for sharing. This gets you a new sub. 😊

look at the cover , they are crossing thru a bush or plants in some park or garden . they were breaking musical barriers too
Right on, bro!! All right, great, but leave the Plants alone!!
hell yeah
Is a fact, the lirics of VDGG an Hammil, are tremendouslly clever. "Wondering" (if its all been true), and others, fantastic lirics
Love their music and lyrics
Christ bless you and your family 🙏❤️ love
Michael
Yes. Hammill an incredible Lyricist and Story Telling Singer second to none. VDGG were so Unique and Great. 😊
Minha banda preferida........... eternamente
What a treat! Some tracks that I believe I never heard before and I've been a fan of VdGG for ages! Thank you.
Incroyable ^^
mais oui...
This is blowing my mind! I have/ had this on a legitimate cassette in the 80s (early?) and it was so bad that it was unlistenable. I basically wrote off this material. But on here, some of this sounds fine, great!
I didn't believe you, about the quality; but it seems a lot better than I remember.
Van der graff, in the line of great english poets
nunca dejan de sorprender, Peter Hammill y Cía!...ENORMES
I really wish there was a more polished sounding version of Roncevaux somewhere. I love that song.
I'd second that. Every time I hear it I think what a shame Roncevaux wasn't front and centre along with A Louse Is Not A Home and In The Black Room on the 'follow-up' to Pawn Hearts. It's a compelling track.
@@tobymartinezdelasrivas6230 - That, and The Liquidator; it would be great to hear proper versions of them.

e GENESIS e YES e JOY DIVISION? ETC. Saludos de Portugal!
King Crimson meu ponto fraco!

Well, it got better after (I think🤔) the 3rd song.
I love this Time Vaults song
i remember this one time i had a real fever dream while listening to time vaults...that was weird
A Banda Mais Bizarra do Rock progressivo inglês.
Dogme et Rituel de la Haute Magie!!!

They're just recordings made during rehearsals
