    Why would he want the cable to run up the brick? Was there a reason he didn't want you to cut the wall? Perhaps because he would have to hire someone to repair it?

    • @PureMediaSystems
      @PureMediaSystems  4 роки тому +3

      Yes, he didn't want to go through any drywall repair. Cutting access panels in drywall is often an option, but the homeowner doesn't always want to go that route. However in this case, the attic didn't really extend over the portion of the room where the customer wanted the cable at.

    Why not run the cable inside the nearest interior wall behind the baseboard or carpet tug it to the desired location

    • @PureMediaSystems
      @PureMediaSystems  3 роки тому +2

      There are doors and hallways separating this wall from an interior wall. As mentioned during the video, there are certainly other ways of running the cable. This method is what the homeowner chose. It is also the least invasive. Any other option would require significant amount more cost and "surgery" to the home that would need to be repaired..

    No wiremold or similar raceway on the face of the brick?

    • @PureMediaSystems
      @PureMediaSystems  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Epic. No, a raceway like that is bigger than the cable itself, won't hold to the brick, and will collect water and other grime. Given the situation, and the customer's wishes, this is the best way to complete the job.

  • @45Lotos
    @45Lotos 3 роки тому +5

    yeah this is a nope for me. I would of gone straight through the brick, or at least try to tuck behind the door trim panels... or for the more creative... drill out the mortar and use the lines as a path for your cable and then reseal it afterwards.

    • @PureMediaSystems

      45Lotos I did new construction electrical work for a year in the early 80s so my knowledge/experience is limited and I’ve forgotten much. However, I would’ve simply drilled directly through exterior wall. No visible wires anywhere. Tidy and quick? Hmm?

    • @PureMediaSystems
      @PureMediaSystems  3 роки тому

      J Mc, if this was a pre-wire for new construction this process would not have been necessary. This install was retro in a 40+ year old home. As stated in the video and in previous comments, there was no accessible attic above this wall, and going through the interior wall without exposed cable would have involved access holes inside which would have required repair. The homeowner did not want to repair drywall and opted for the method featured in this video.

      Pure Media Systems yes I dig that it was customers demand. But for your reputation I wouldn’t have made a video of a poor way to do a job. Or I would’ve made it clear that “Hey folks, this isn’t the best way to do this but I’m doing what the customer asked.” Then I would’ve explained the best way to do it. Just so you don’t look bad. But thx for the honest explanation. I’m having a bad time myself right now trying to figure a way to run power out of my concrete walls for a security light where there’s no attic access. Just for beauty, I think I would have added a raceway to match the color of the trim. Don't think it look very good. You may be a great electrician and/or the homeowner didn't want to spend any money but it looks like a rookie job?

    • @PureMediaSystems
      @PureMediaSystems  2 роки тому

      Thank you for your feedback. A raceway is actually going to be far more visible than a single cable, which can also be painted to color match. Raceways are larger, more difficult to secure to the brick, and will retain moisture, insects, etc. that are not an issue with a single cable. As was stated in the first 40 seconds of the video, this location was not accessible in the attic without cutting access panels in the drywall. The customer didn't want to go through any drywall repair. Cutting access panels in drywall is often an option, but the homeowner doesn't always want to go that route.
