Need to read that after I read his excellent documentation from the Panzer-conference. Also Bo: Bis needs to start a 'Phrasenschwein' (ask him about it) for using slogans like 'Be the change you want to see' etc., perhaps towards a visit to Texas '23?
Oh god, that first match was pure joy. Both from the duel at the end, and Bis' "Hanoi Hannah" impersonation. We need more Bis in video, he's such a joy every time he appears.

"Be the change you want to see". One thing I really appreciate about Bo and co is their adamant refusal to spawncamp (on the ground) or killsteal (in the air).

You and Oddbawz have convinced me to start WT, and its quite a bit of fun so far.
The Finnish buffalo was lightened in multiple ways (even with a less powerful engine) so its wing loading was a lot less than the regular one, but the flight model seems excessive.
I wouldn't say excessive. Lightness is best weapon a prop fighter can have, and against soviets much newer equipment we needed all advantages we could get.
@@Leonidae I have read that "denavalizing" the dash 1 airframe included lightening the landing gear since it didn't have to endure carrier landings, removal of liferaft, arrestor hook and other associated gear. Chennault indicated it could "roll inside of a phone booth." Finnish tactics also helped make this a great fighter.
@@DrCrapologist It was an agile bird once the modifications were done. Not the fastest but if one was foolish enough to turnfight one, the tables were turned pretty fast.

This is by far my favorite early-WWII airplane because of my family's connection to the it, specifically the manufacturer, Brewster Aeronautical Corporation, previously Brewster & Co., founded by one of my ancestors. I have nothing but pride for this goofy little aircraft lol

Bismark's book is great. My doctor's wife is presently reading my copy...after reading my RISE AND FALL OF THE LUFTWAFFE. Her father was a bombardier in a B-24 stationed in Italy.

The B-239 is a perfect example of how to improve a design, rather than overengineer it- engine tweaks, and an environment where the hot-running engine was a lot happier to operate in. And the agility makes sense- they compared favorably with A6Ms in the F2A-1, and the B-239 is actually lighter AND has a better engine despite. It's another of the rare gems the Finns give the Swedish tech tree.

Great video. Bis should start a singing career since he can't go a single video without launching into a rousing song. Has one for every situation. To bad cobey and sturmling weren't in it. The banter between the 3 and Bo being a disappointed dad at there antics.

The B-239 is a wonder, even of it is facing planes 2 full BR above it. It also a decent ground pounder, especially if you are fighting the Germans and Japanese.

Fun fact about the Buffalo's compression: I believe it was Greg's Airplanes & Automobiles who actually found documentation from NACA about testing they did where they brought a Buffalo to 500mph in a dive and it surprisingly did in fact have really great dive characteristics despite how dated and underpowered it was at that point.
I thought that was the Wildcat. Apparently the Wildcat was next to impossible to damage in a dive, because its terminal velocity was not enough to damage the airframe. Maybe the Buffalo was like that too, but I can’t find a video from Greg on it.

People ALWAYS underestimate the humble Buffalo, but it has some ridiculous flight characteristics and 4x .50s. It is a mean, MEAN plane for its battle rating.
