You have some amazing videos. I am still assembling my cabinet, therefore I am making sure to do it to the max capability. I have just read in the comments that you're using just a normal speakers for SSF (with DOFlinx and Pin Up Player), I remember that inside your VPincab there's a 5.1 system Logitec.
This is my question if I use the follow configuration for SSF (supported with DOFLinx and Pin Up Player) can work?
My speaker are this:
- Creative iRoar (2.1 speaker 🔊 for voice and music),
- 2 good old PC speaker Creative (2.0 stereo 🔊 for front tactile sound)
- another 2.0 stereo 🔊 similar in watt power to the other 2.0 for rear tactile sound.
I would do a "proper" SSF setup for a cabinet. I only installed my (now 4) speakers because at that time SSF wasn't an option. I just did it for cooler sound.
Great video. I have the starwars arcade1up pinball and the exciters work great. I’m having an issue with the stock front speakers. I cannot figure out how to connect them?
Great! Been trying to find out how the pinball software knows where to place the sound. Now I understand pinball fx3 has files per table that contain this information? So is this game developed with making a virtual pinball machine with ssf in mind then?? That is great!

Hello Terry, i have setup SSF & Doflinx but for some reason the ssf sound only works through steam and not through pinup with steam? The toys (shaker,lights,etc) all work through both. Any idea where i can look to find the issue?

I have a question about SSF under FX3.
I only have SSF (runs wonderfully under VPX 10.7). I also have PinUp Player installed - also runs great under VPX. Now I would like to install SSF under FX3.

there is a file "directoutputconfig (for SSF_Only users)" with the files "Config/directoutputconfig.ini and tablemappings.xml " comes in the folder Directoutput/config ?!
Now to my question:
to use only SSF under FX3 this is enough "directoutputconfig (for SSF_Only users)" and the sound-package and FX3_SSF PuP-Packs (ALL Triggers)(1.16.3).zip files, which I copy into the PinUP-Player folder - is this correct ?
I don't use any other toys, like shakers, LEDs or contactors
I don't have DOFLinx installed either
is it enough for me to install the small package only on my Cabinet-Pinball and SSF runs under FX3?

Hello i just tried today with pbfx3 and the tables sorcerer's lair and excallibur and unfortunately I never hear about anything only bumpers or slingshots. When editing pup packs I can trigger évent I hear about flippers for exemple, but never in game... Any idea ?
Geat video Terry! I have no 5.1 / 7.1 sound card. Is it possible to set a second audio card output for pup+doflinx? (like you can do with Visual Pinball)?
Not currently with PuP, no.

Do ball rolling sounds exhist yet on any tables? It's not clear to me how to align the ball rolling audio to the triggers on the table. I mean the ball is always moving (well almost always). lol... so do I start a new rolling file when a new number is called out? Which of the 13 ball rolling files do i pick? I assume you different length sounds to get the ball back to the flippes?
There is no rolling ball sound possibility with FX3

What's the main difference between getting a shaker motor and SSF, and do you really need both?
SSF is more about "positional" feedback and sounds. A shaker motor just shakes the entire cab at specific times. They are both very different.

What exciters and amp do you recommend to use?
I only have speakers myself....goto VPinball and they have a SSF forum that talks all about it
Noob question here ... I only have the exciters installed. Is the only way to make them work with FX3 with a pinscape board?
Exciters are audio devices.... or do you mean solenoids?

No...DOFLinx can still work without any of that...because in this video I'm just using DOFLinx to trigger PinUP Player to play SSF sounds.
How do increase the table volume? My flipper table sounds are' weak.
You actually need to decrease the table sounds and music to match with SSF levels, as SSF sound is much lower than the game audio. then increase your PC volume level. SSF sound levels can't be adjusted.
@@TerryRed I used pinvol to increase global volume and then in FX decreased volume.

My only problem with all this stuff is it's overly complicated. In order to setup a cab you have to run 50 different things and be versed in computer programming.
Most people won't use this stuff until it becomes a streamlined program for the average joe. It's very overwhelming.
I'm really not knocking this stuff I'm sure it's awesome but with having to figure out how to setup 2 monitors a dmd, vpx, pfx3, future pinball and a whole slew of videos, artwork, backglasses, front ends, force feedback, and now surround sound with tactile feedback. It would take me years to get all of this working and by that time it would be outdated. JMO of course so feel free to disagree. Oh also your desktop gives me anxiety lol.
Yup...this is not a plug and play hobby. You will need to put in a lot of work for something like this.

That is the reason why it is so much fun - playing it is only a small percentage of the fun. Solving the riddles, and figuring out the electronics and programming is what the fun part really is. People who simply want to play should just buy a table already finished.
@@TerryRed I converted a dead 1UP Star Wars to popper, adding SSF to FX3 was challenging but after following your guide and a bit of trial and error I was able to get it all going, VPX was no trouble but overall I am very happy with the results, you are a wonderful human Terry :)

Not with FX3, no. With VPX and FP, yes.

@@brianford9522 No ball rolling from pup ssf in FX3. We can only use what DOFLinx is able to trigger.

why assume we have everything working you need to show us everything from start to finish if you going to show how to get pinup player working in fx3 as im lost setting it up with visual pinball was easy but all this doflinx stuff makes no sense to me how do i get fx3 and pinup to work why is that so hard to find a tutorial on !!
I'm going to stop you right there. I don't "have to" show "anything". I don't "need" to show tutorials for every piece of software there is related to PuP and virtual pinball. This is not a "service", nor am I obligated to do anything. UA-cam is also not a support forum. Some things you need to have a basic understanding of. The download thread at VPinball for this mentions the software you need to have working first. I give you links to where the software is. So you need to take the steps to do that. I'm not going to show tutorials on EVERY program that is used for Virtual Pinball everytime I do a pup-pack, or anything else. No one does that. I give WAY more info and help and links for this stuff than anyone else does. You can't jump in trying to setup everything at once before you even understand what it is you are using. DOFLinx is not a single setup program. It will be different for everyone depending on their cabinet and setup. It also comes with a guide, and there is also a forum for it. This hobby is not plug and play or a simple install, since there are many parts that make it work. You need to do some work and reading and follow the guide provided by doflinx and other programs to make things work for "your" setup. Same with FX3 and PuP. I can't make a single setup tutorial for everything for everyone. That is literally impossible. Goto the Vpinball forums or the Pinup Facebook group and start there with full descriptions of what you have done and show exactly what isn't working.

@@CharlieEdward25 This is why 99% of people don't post videos, tutorials or wikis for this stuff. When new people don't know how to get it to work, they feel that whoever tried to help with this stuff is required to help them get it working....wrong. These videos are not all inclusive. They are linked from other locations, guides and tutorials in the forums and download threads. I post them here to help those who are active in the VP communities and forums. You can't see what I have in my channel and expect it to cover everything you need to know. 100's of people have got this working with no problems. They don't do it however by just watching whatever videos I happen to post. Software is constantly changing. I would recommend you start with just getting your emulators running completely first. FX3 is a big pain because it needs B2S Server, DOF, DOFLinx, PUP, dmdext to make all of everything in this video to work. In the pinup player install wiki i link to all of this except for DOFLinx because doflinx is only needed for FX3 SSF and Aliens pup-pack. On top of that if FX3 gets updated then it prevents doflinx, dmdext and the pup-packs from working. Maybe take a moment to read through the entire support thread you got this download from first and start there instead of using YT as a support thread. Learn from what others have done. (FX3 is the biggest pain though for this stuff by far)
