Mega Drive's "Universal Soldier" has the same music. (Sounds better on the MD though). It was made as Turrican II but they changed the name late on, and modified it slightly. (Main character and bosses appearance changed. Flying levels replaced by extra "normal" levels). Brilliant game. Great on the Game Boy too.
plus the level design, the bosses, the sounds, the invisible power-up crates, secret areas,......... so many aspects that make this game awesome even by today's standards!
I got my Amiga 2000, connected to my stereo amplifier and Turrican II was the first game disc I threw in the Amiga. Then the intro started and I thought it wasn't possible what I heard: such a sound from a computer game! I sat down and listened to the music for the next minutes till I remenbered I wanted to play the game ... ;-)
Dieses Game ist eins der besten, die ich je auf dem Amiga gezockt habe. Und es beweist, dass Chris Hülsbeck der beste seiner Zunft seinerzeit war. Bester Amiga-Soundtrack ever!!
Just watched it with my nine yo son. So many memories give me the impression i've played it yesterday : great sensations. The music, the design, the bosses, the gameplay. My son loves retro-gaming, we've really enjoyed this video, thank you so much !
I can not describe how much I love this game, I spent much of my childhood playing this wonderful game, this is a masterpiece, I can not describe the feeling when I think back to childhood with Turrican 2 believe me these memories live forever, the feeling is wonderful
Yup. But the gameplay in that longolay is - lets say - only average. I must admit I'm way better in that game... :-) At least - I used to be. And that damm Turrican-suit is the godfather of all HEV-,HALO- and Nano-Suits together!!! EDIT: So Samus Aran is the god-mother--fuckingbloodyhell.... Guess ye old Brent got a good ride. ;)
thundard Inhuman.... I'v seen it but I still dont belive it. O.O I never made it through the alien levels, without losing a single life .One of those Alienheads always got me,at least once. But I could swear it was the joysticks fault...^^ Best higscore was somewhat around 2500000. So I guess I'm still better than the guy in that longplay. But still much room to improve.
I had an Amiga 500 and this was my game...I am 28 now but some of my earliest memories are playing this game as a child. This game for me started my lifelong interest in gaming. I had a saga but nothing saga brought out could compare to this game. Until playstation in 1997 this was the best game you could play and hardly anybody I can remember besides myself had an Amiga as a child....I have so many memories... I think the amiga itself is broke but I still have a copy of this game.
One of the best composers...period. I truly believe that the greatest composers, like Huelsbeck and Preisner belong in a category that is not limited to their immediate genre
Am I the only Old Guy that still tears up when Bren dawns the Turrican Armor in the intro?? Turrican 2 has the best music and is my all time favorite Platform game! Thanks to the game programmers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the music, the sound, the graphics...... the Level design! Thanks to all of you! This was my Favorite!
I still remember how I secretly took my parents expensive JBL stereo system from the living room to my room to connect it to my Amiga and record this stuff on cassette. Next day I took it to school on my Sony walkman and felt like the master of the universe! :-)
Always appreciated this as a classic, my favorite amiga game along with moonstone, chaos engine, walker and hunter..The music brings back some great times.
I like the fact that these guys are longplaying practically every game in Amiga's game library. I just wish I could find longplayers for every system; it's fun to watch people beat games you've never heard of.
Played this game to death back in the day and still go through it on an emulator regularly. This game never gets old. And bloody hell that music is still awesome!
I can't believe the guy who did the music for this managed to coax so much out of the Amiga's limited sound palette. The soundtrack is second to none in context with the games of the era!
Back in the days, who ever had a Commodore Amiga had probably this game. The Amiga version was the best, the one and only. Turrican was in that time primary designed for the Amiga. I've played Turrican II dozens of times, and still now, almost 30 years after its release, it still kicks ass!!! I have kept one A500 and sometimes I power it on again, for some nostalgic game sessions. Turrican II is one of my all time favourites.
I agree - the music in this game is insanely good. I used to record it on my old taperecorder and listen to it... Awesome stuff. And Cubex55, I've started watching all your recorded games, it's stealing my time! well done.
The amiga will never die in the hearts of many people as long we remember all we have to do is when our kids play an amiga classic like turrican on a modern console or even ds etc is remind them where it orignated , this way we can preserve the amiga's proud history if it was not for the amiga we would not have classic games like this.
The music at 12:30 "traps" is probably my fave computer music ! Brings back memories of when I first got my amiga, it seemed so powerful after the c64 etc ! From 16 colours to thousands !!
I remember when i was kid i walk everyday 3 Kilometer to play this game just for listening to music even after 27 years same impression on me never forget this soundtracks it was like music from future . This game and soundtracks is immortal
Played the demo of this endlessly when I was a boy. Loved the quotes he said when grabbing weapons and powerups; I always thought "multiple" sounded like "golf ball!"
Turrican2 - einer meiner absoluten All-Time-Spiele-Titel. Und ich zocke seit fast 19 Jahren. Ein super Game - insbesondere mit der Musik von Chris Huelsbeck. Mir juckts wieder in den Fingern...
That was the way, oh Lord, what we have lost words cannot say and tears cannot show... Why had time to go on so fast, why... I want to be young again, and I want back the feelings I've almost forgotten... thats really something you can't buy with money... *cry*
00:17 - And so it begins... 08:04 - Level 1 12:24 - Level 2 19:45 - Level 3 27:09 - Still level 3, but new music 29:40 - Level 4 38:15 - Boss level 4 40:00 - Level 5 - Airplane mode 47:32 - Level 6 - Fast paced airplane mode 49:50 - Level 7, really chill song this one 1:10:05 - Level 8 1:24:12 - Level 9 1:27:53 - Final boss 1:30:03 - The End
I read in an interview with Manfred Trenz for the amiga joker magazine once that he got the name for the game out of the telefone book, he saw the name 'Turricano' and got the idea...
i always thought the music for street fighter 2 was the best but having just watched this, i've changed my mind!! the game music for this is freaking awesome, best ever!
Ah the memories... Video games have come so far but the music in this game has never been beaten. Amiga games seemed to have some great music. Harlequin, Hostages, Apidya, Project X and many more all featured some great tunes.
When i was about 12, i used to spend hundreds of hours with this game:)) I loved the music, and the playability. Now i wish i still had my amiga:) Sadly after some time my second disc broke, and i wasn't able to play the levels after the fighter stage.
one of the best game ever released :-) and the best computer video game music ever released. !!! :-) Too bad that actual games doesn't use anymore this kind of immersive sountrack
This game had it all. Awesome graphics, excellent music, great gameplay. Years before Megaman and Metroid stole most of it's ideas. Including the morph ball ! Still - they did do a great job at it as well.
Was my favorite game, used to play a lot in coop with my sister, she start the game and playing up to the space ship levels, the other part up to the end was played by me.. good ol days

Still one of the best Soundtracks ever made to any computer game so far! So awesome!
+RonTaboga Chris Hülsbeck certainly came up with some memorable soundtracks. For me, the music in _Apidya_ was his shining moment.
Not "one of" but THE best.
Very selective. I remember Mega Drive/Alisia Dragoon and MSX/Xak better for the music...
Best sounds, gfx, sfx, gameplay, History, ...
Chris Hülsbeck an absolute legend in video game music
Yes.
He is.
Met him once @gamescom :D Legend!
That "story"....
But the music. So stunning. Probably one of the best soundtracks in gaming history.

The music to this game made it that much more epic!!
+CabooseNor THE TURRICAN 2 SOUNDTRACK WAS MADE BY CHRIS HUELSBECK AND YOU CAN ADD HIM ON FACEBOOK IF YOU WANT TO KNOW HIM
I used to put the game on just for the music.
My absolute favourite of the series. Spent most of my childhood playing this.

Such great memories about that game and the time I used to play it. Haven't got my Amiga anymore sadly. Would play it 24/7.... simply loved it.

So beautiful to see this game after so many years!!!!!

Inexplicably amazing soundtrack, the underwater theme alone is perfection. . Loved playing this back on the day, happy times.
Chris Hülsbeck: arguably one of the best videogame music composers ever.
One of the best composers...period. I truly believe that the greatest composers, like Huelsbeck and Preisner belong in a category that is not limited to their immediate genre
Turrican is the first game I mention when I talk of old games of "my days". Great game.

Few today what a marvel of computing this game is, the forces that made it and the impression it gave. Gee I would not have been the same!
Like others have stated, from the very first note I’m completely immersed in the memories of this game. Everything about it is just awesome!
Well! One of the best games ever programmed combined with probably the best OST ever created! I have and always will love it!
The end music is so awesome! Such great memories completing this and the original Turrican.

I like the fact that these guys are longplaying practically every game in Amiga's game library. I just wish I could find longplayers for every system; it's fun to watch people beat games you've never heard of.

This game is a work of art.

When we played this nearly 20 years ago that pulse Sound-Bgm in one of the last Levels scared the crap out of me ... :) hah memories ...
This was so cool to watch, memories! And that music
Simply one of the best games ever written!
Only 17 lives arriving "the machine"?
Well, you´ve done. Well done..
What a masterpiece on Commodore Amiga.

One of my favorite Amiga games
Played the MS-DOS version of this game. Simply a spectacular game.
man... that was like a trip back to childhood... thanks for uploading this ! :-)
One of the best games Ever Made!
I am 30 and i thin kalso that games were much much better these times.
A lot of great memorys. At this times games were a passion from developers. Nowaday its only commercial aimes.
Just wanted to get sleep. And around was a friend. So we did what everyone would do: See this beautiful game.
Damned so good game. Damned nostalgic arcade game. One of the best. I feel so old and I'm. Really. Where the good old days are? Gone. Thanks God for emulators.
