- For the 37th in my "Death Of A Fluorescent" series I've got a F20T12 to finish off.
This one didn't last long, but it gave an AWESOME show, one of the best I've ever seen!
And also did stuff I haven't seen before.
The orange glow separating from the end & moving partway down the tube was cool! (not to mention weird)!
Then a dim spot moving along, another odd thing it did.
Then the slow progressive changeover to that pink color! whoa!
It truly did turn pink, close but not quite as intense of a color as the camera made it look.
Ballast used was an instant start electronic...
Advance 3xF32T8, wired for 2x overdrive on the EOL lamp.
I love seeing light bulbs eat it!!! 😀
And I've never seen a fluorescent light blub put on an EOL show like that!!! 😲

And yeah, this was one of the best 'shows' I've seen. Kinda doubt I'll bet another one that good. .lol.
That is the coolest florescent lamp birn out I've ever seen.

Same here. One of the best I've ever seen.
1:16 that piece of yellow light said "I'm free" and the orange death said "where do you think you're going"? And the yellow light said "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa"

If the glass is not cracked you can still operate it with a Tesla coil, plasma globe, HV ferrite transformer, neon sign transformer and oil burner igniton transformer.
I have a plasma globe, but none of those others.
(would love to have a neon transformer)
in the case of this lamp, the internal glass cracked & it lost vacuum

Yeah. I wasn't expecting that out of it! Think its pretty rare for one to go out like that. .lol.
I agree ,the last craziest eol I had with my fluorescent bulb was when the vacuum loss turn half of the bulb clear, your eol was the best eol I have ever seen, keep up with the good work 👏
@@Logan-pr5pv Clearing out half the phosphor .. wow that's a good one! I've never had more than a little at the end.
I finished off another F20 recently, but it was nothing real special (other than there was a little 'light show' going on inside the bad end that was kinda cool). May put up the vid at some point later.
@XmasLightsGuy that,s good, thx for the heads up, btw the bulb eol I had with the half the phosphor blown was 2ft t8 but I am not sure about the brand the printing was faded. The bulb was almost nine years old, the fixture now a has a led bulb in it. I like watching your coll eol video btw. :)

The light cut out when the whole tube starts to turn orange
Yep thats the point when the tube lost vacuum.. Would have been interesting ti see what happened if it had held on longer. .lol.

Its just something that happens with these electronic ballasts.
When there's that orange glow right in the end, its getting really hot - to the point where it'll melt the metal filament supports and/or internal glass around them.
@@XmasLightsGuy the magnetic ballast has the same but only the sides turns orange then like 10 seconds it started blinking non stop

Yeah, I've seen orange end-glow happen for a brief period on magnetic a few times, and then just start flickering (in that case, rapid-start magnetic .. havent seen any on preheat/switch-start, they usually just start blinking)
this happened at my school today....I was the only one that noticed it until it fell down(like from 6 feet above).Thats when it died.
wow. But, yeah in rare cases the socket can melt, or the tube can crack at the bad end.. then it'll fall.(I've had them crack before, but not enough to fall out of the light.)

Another tube also seems to be nearly death or burnout as very blackening at the ending.
Yep, that one is well used & nearing the end of its lifespan.

Basically my reaction when I saw it do that.

Houseplants & aquarium plants .lol. these are way too dim for any of those 'special' plants 🪴

There really wouldn't have been much to hear... it made some little 'tink' sounds, but thats it. probably what you would have mostly heard was the pumps in the fishtank on the other side of the room since that was closer to the camera.
