I think I only saw the light dragon once during my playthrough before this, and when I tried to get to it, it was way too far for me to reach

Shame the sages disappear altogether during the final Ganondorf battle. They ruined the game.
I had tulin for so long that when it came down to the dragon fight I didn't understand why I wasn't going nearly as far as before lol
