    This trend is so funny to me because I used to do this with my black clothes when I was in high school in the 90s yes I am old. I’m happy to see this look again it’s fun to do. Yours came out very nice. I like this method better than using rubber bands. I think you get a nice pattern.

    • @AbiDashery
      @AbiDashery  5 років тому +2

      Hello my lovely!! It is possible, but fabric that has been bleached doesn't take dye very well so the effect of the colour added would be very subtle.

    Is it necessary that the hoodie is 100% cotton or will 60% cotton + 40% polyester work too?

    • @CryptikB6K
      @CryptikB6K 4 роки тому

      Late reply - but cotton can take natural dye and release it with bleach, polyester on the otherhand is totally impervious to it. So it will work only on the cotton parts.

    One video said to always soak finished bleached shirts with Hydrogen Peroxide before washing in machine, 1 cup Peroxide per gallon of water before washing to prevent bleach from continuing to work. Otherwise, holes might begin to appear.

    • @AbiDashery
      @AbiDashery  4 роки тому +1

      I find the bleach stops working as soon as it's rinsed. I've never heard of this technique & in the 6 years I've been bleaching I've never noticed a hole forming. But if you think that's the right way to go you should totally do that. Thanks so much for watching.

    I have white hoodie can I diy it first in dark colour and then bleach it will that work ?

    • @AbiDashery
      @AbiDashery  2 роки тому

      So it would work to a degree but the finished product would be very different. Your dark dye will probably come out patchy and not as dark as something store bought so you won't have the same base to work with. When you apply your bleach the fabric will likely turn back to white where the bleach hits, rather than turn a rusty colour.
      No reason not to try it out, but it won't turn out the same as the one I made in the video. Best wishes Abi

    • @stepmothercity
      @stepmothercity Рік тому

      With bleach you really only need to let it sit until it’s the lightness that you want. The color’s not coming back. If you’re adding dye that’s when you want to let it set. You can just rinse it really well but it’s easier to put it in the wash and get all the bleach out. Also be aware if you over-bleach for long periods you run the risk of the fabric falling apart, so at least dilute it with a good rinse when you’re done. I think it’s a lot more efficient to just use straight bleach and watch it for a few minutes, but make sure you’re in a ventilated area.

    • @AbiDashery
      @AbiDashery  4 роки тому

      It depends on two things, first the cotton content of the fabric, the more cotton, the more noticeable the colour difference will be & it also depends on what colours have been used to make up the base colour of the original fabric of the hoodie. Some blacks turn a bright orange/red some turn out more grey. It's all just a bit of an experiment!

    • @AbiDashery
