Words fail me in my attempt to describe the beauty this version possesses. Easily THE best Chap tilak I have ever listened to. It is so raw, organic, and powerful. The words seem to be flowing from the artists hearts and souls. I loved their expressions. The part of 14 to 14:20, is just sublime. So subtle and yet contributes so well to the overall composition. This is not a qawwali/song. This is an EXPERIENCE. Thanks for making us able to experience this sheer beauty.
I agree 100%. The way this version intertwined Bulleh Shah with Khusro and even variations of Khusro's couplets is simply amazing. The part about Laila Majnu (Qais) was nice too. Ustadji is true master in melody and rhythm. Simply amazing rendition.
I still remember This day when Khan sahab asked that he wants to recite Chap tilak and we politely said no please because chap tilak is the most recited kalam and is sung by every single party, later he insisted again and am just so glad he did else would have miss this magical recital. kkhan sahab is just amazing , misss him dearly
How effortlessly Ustad is shifting between Avadhi and Punjabi sitting in aremote delightful corner of Pakistan immersed in his timeless craft !! We in south asia are most blessed
Well said , It is very sad , that our heritage classical music performed in other country 😑🤐 I miss that gem music 🎶 in Indian singers , I will try my best to find such singers in india , And perform same ones .
I came across this video 3 years ago, and it's become my most watched video. Every weekend, throughout the pandemic, we would have a few drinks and get excited about watching this video. Each time, there's a new element to explore here. The patient and diligent kid sitting in the right corner, the hand movements of Ustaad Ameer Ali Khan, the lyrics, the music, and of course - someone from the audience probably with a big smile on their face "aisee bandishen maine aaj takk nahi sunee". This video introduced me to the beauty of qawwali. Whoever has done the translations has done justice to capturing this beautiful urdu poetry.
What a Bandish...I have heard so many qawals/Ustads till date, This is one of the Top 2-3 talent out there..The entire team is so polished, well trained, As i said earlier, an Un-discovered GEM to the world.
A very sad day to know that the great Ustadj is no more, It was my dream to go one day to Pakistan and meet him and learn atleast 1% from him... May his soul rest in peace and his music will.always remain among us
Bhaai, bahut ustadon ko suna, Inka to rang hi Ajeeb Hy Bhaai, Ye kaai Raagon ko le ke,kahin se bhi ghusjaty hen aur Kahin se bhi nikaljaty hen. Aysa Qaabu, Itna control ! SubhanAllah SubhanAllah , MashaaAllah.
I was so overwhelmed everytime I listened to this masterpiece that I was unable to write anything. I did not know what to say, or how to express my feelings after it finished every time and that was countless times. I gathered myself around today though as I just came to know that he is no more with us. As I said somewhere else that my wish will remain just a wish to have met him, listened to him. I was thinking a person who brought so much joy to people by connecting them with their own inner selves through his art and talent would be prayed innumerable times. The vibes from all of us fans would resonate in to one to make a prayer so forceful that I believe Allah will place Ustad Ameer closer to Him. May he rest in peace.
What an undiscovered gem... Raw emotions, the languages smoothly flow from one to another, raagas merge seamlessly, what control, what an experience. One of the best renditions of Chaap Tilak ever.... True performers and artists in their natural settings. No fancy sound systems, no computer generated beats, no fancy lights, no artificially created atmosphere, in short no Coke Studio. Just a troupe of real artists creating magic.
People should be ashamed of themselves for demanding that their own music be presented to them in adulterated forms with Western instruments and sounds.

Khan sb has no amplifiers , synthesisers or loud speakers . It’s all just raw talent . The words resonate in your soul . The shadows and light placement is mystic and unconventional making it sublime . I was more than feeling rather than hearing what he said . the way Khan sb’s fave depicted his mood was captivating . There is some magical combination of sur and notes that just hooks u up to a new spiritual level that you thought never existed . God bless him . He took away a part of my soul with him . The Kalam transcends reality and touches surreality in some way . Along paths of divine devotion that we usually never tread . Totally an out of body experience .
Ustaad Ameer Ali Khan has been a journey of discovery for me personally. I am so sad that I was unaware of this gem till I chanced upon your channel. Thanks a lot for introducing him to many of us @The Dream Journey. This version of Chaap Tilak is one of the best versions on the youtube. The way it eschews all the showmanship and just glides under the skin and into our psyche is amazing. Really a rare rendering. SubahanAllah. Pursukoon aawaaz.
Superlative performance that captivates over and over again. We in India are lucky that we have The Dream Journey there in Pakistan to help us connect to this treasure trove of what makes this subcontinent unique.
What a Rhapsody, what a fusion of Urdu Punjabi & awadhi, ustaad is a genius and so is his jingbang, so emotive they r, not to speak of melody, this is a magic on classicly trained can render
Ustad Ameer Ali Khan sahab's singing and whole body language is just awesome. Entire team is well set. Just put your headphones and close your eyes and feel it. Nothing more to say.
This kalam takes to unknown territories of the inner world. May God bless him. It's hard to imagine what he himself would have experienced while reciting this. No words can pay tribute to this gift that Ustad Ameer has left after him for countless people like us. Thank you! Dream Journey for bringing such a passionate experience.
hands down the best version of Chap Tilak, ever you have sang it with such grace, and I am so impressed. I love qawaali, and this is probably the most perfect and raw and just the most beautiful version ever to exist.❤
The inseparable link between India and Pakistan is this .................... Music. May his soul rests in eternal peace and he will always be remembered through these amazing renditions
They are so practiced, so at home in this Sufi kalam and in the techniques of qawwali that their style obliterates the line between excitement and relaxation; the two concepts merge with such ease. Pure joy.
The way he has sung this is completely out of body experience, I laugh, cry and sit in wonder how he expresses every single verse of this Qawali. He is the top singer of this Qawali NO ONE comes close to his devotion. It touches part of me that I did not know existed, truely a masterpiece.
So true. This Is a totally unique Chaap Tilak with the giraahbandi to other Sufi verses. Touches the soul of the entire region of the North. Powerful words and heartfelt expression.
I tried so much to describe its beauty No matter how I tried, no words seemed worthy.. Love you Ustaad Ameer Ali Khan Sahab. Heartfelt thanks to Dream Journey. From 🇧🇩 ❤ 🇵🇰
Another gem of elite class of music...CAN FEEL THE EACH AN EVERY NOTE..Ustad ameer khan sahab is some how i feel is a fusion of ustad nusrat fateh ali sahab and ustad mehdi hasaan sahab by his experience and vocals..
It is an "art of collaboration"! Ustad Ameer Ali Khan is Superb! & every other member of the Qawwal Party are equally talented! each "bandish" is so precisely sung by the group that it is very pleasing to listen! huge respect from Nepal!
Khan sahib....mazaa aa gayaa. God bless you. You are real thread of our centuries old jewels/culture/music. Now we all are tired from computer made music. Listening to you is feeling like that we are touching again to our lost spirit.
This is my most favourite ChaapTilak and can't express my love in words..... I would be more than lucky, happy, grateful to witness them live. You literally 'SabCheenliRe'.....
Grace, the defining characteristic of any form of art, especially qawwali is grace. And in a piece so versatile as 'Chaap Tilak', there's so much to be found. In the simple verses penned some 700 years ago, which still hold up to the unrelenting yet mystical world of love. Ustad Ameer Ali Khan sahab has given this kalaam new life, he's made it his own as much as it is Khusrau's. Watered down by modern so called qawwals and bollywood industry, Chaap Tilak has been watered down to a generic "number" in recent years. This, right here gives it a new meaning. Laced with Bulleh Shah's poetry, and that touch of the Ustad's playful profundity. This is hands down the best version of Chaap Tilak out there Another thing I found quite interesting was the ashaar in this recitation. These aren't taken from Rekhta (or any poetry site for that matter) like so many cheaper versions are. These right here have been sourced from Deewans and passed down in true sufi manner. Even if you looked them up you'd barely find anything. I'm amazed at the quality of the chosen ashaar, to quote one: "Khusrau sej bichayi ke, jo parde rakhe do Tan diya man na diya, suhaagan kis bid ho?" Genuine magic, thanks to the Dream Journey team for making this happen and to everyone involved in the making of this magnificent piece, RIP Ustad sahab.
My gratitude to the purveyors of dreams for unearthing this cult classic sung by the late Ustad Ameer Ali Khan saheb of Dipalpur. The setting of the performance brought to me the memories of Multan and Sargodha two cities from where my late parents hailed. My mother and father used to regale us with the the milieu of the ir childhood . The folklore, customs , songs and poetry The love legends of Heer Ranjha, Laila Majnu and Soni Mahiwal. The Kafis composed by Baba Ghulam Farid and Bulle Shah and set in Raag Multani. Listening to Ustad ji took me to another world-- the world of my ancestors. The flight of his majestic voice knows no boundaries. It effortlessly soars across boundaries of Time and Space. For the some moments I believe I touched the fringes of my ancestral paradise. Gratitude once again for providing me a free passage to world of Ruhaani Rehmat. Allah Haafiz.🙏🙏🌺🌺
In past two ......I’m obliged to The Dream Journey for such a mesmerising and serene musical treasure. Out of mind and deep in heart . Melody at its best . Love u
Though I don't have any knowledge to judge or comment on this great maestro but THE BEST!! I have heard in khaaraj. Truely eternal when he touch the lower notes ❤
Thank you The Dream Journey for gifting such a beautiful rendition of this classic to us! You have my unending gratitude. Much love from India to you and Ustad Ameer Ali Khan Qawwal & Party!
Arif Saheb and your team.. My parents came from Shakargarh. My father is a famous Punjabi writer: Mohan Kahlon whose writings try to draw sustenance from this raw, Sufi virsa and wisdom. Except Mehdi Hassan, i have not heard a voice other than that of Ustad Amir Aki Khan Saheb when it comes to being note perfect and steeped in classical music so deeply. The whole group seems to be having so much fun. Is it true that Saleem Ali Khan who has a mesmerizing unique style is no more? What happened to him? Why is this group not popular and on Coke Studio. You have changed my life by introducing them through this fantastic journey. Shukriya. Mubarak. Allah tala aapki umar daraz kare! We Punjabis on this side of the border listen more to Pakistani singers as you have kept the rawayat intact while in India we have become cheap and crassly commercial. I love Western classical music immensely but I think our music is more soul -stirring (for us, maybe) and more improvisational. Improvisation makes each piece sound different and richer every time an artist performs it. The piece posted here is pure gold. Brings tears to my eyes through its sheer beauty! An exercise like the one taken up here by Amir Khan and others produces small phrases of music that are original, innovative and new. Many of these phrases can be and am sure are picked up by lesser musicians and turned into songs that become popular. As the Amir Khans disapper and the Rahat Ali Khans increase in number, music will lose its soul-touching quality. Someone says in the course of this song: ऐसी बंदिशें मैंने पहले कभी नहीं सुनी( haven't heard such bandishein) What he says has a lot of meaning.
Hey bro I appreciate what you wrote. Just wanted to say being on coke studio is meaningless. These people are institutions themselves. We have seen coke studio bringing totally non talented safarshi Awaam as well. And if you are here and listening to em means people who will search will find the true knowledge someday.
The hidden gems of my land MY PAKISTAN.I have no words to appreciate team 'Dream journey' keep it up our land is full of these kind of gems hidden in towns and streets. ALL THE BEST!!!!
Love the strong ethnic voice and its expressiveness . Particularly enjoyed the mixing of codes and lyrical traditions of two great languages of South Asia : Urdu and Punjabi. Very much rooted in its local context, the rendition is very unique and original. Wah Kya Baat Hai. Professor Muhammad Ali Khan Philadelphia.

am very much confused what i have to do? am jumping to the comments again to the expressions of ustad sahab again comments sections and jump again towards subtitles , its absolute love , thanks dream journey for introducing ustad ammer ali khan to me.
This really is the journey of dreams. And my biggest thanks for the subtitles. I'm proficient in Urdu, but our sufi Kalams transcends many languages and experiences.
at first i was feeling very sorry for them but after listening them i realised that their poverty is their strength, they have pain in their music, With great power comes great responsibility, absence of something is also a presence of something, and that something is in their Music, No thanks to them, Beshak Sab Allah ki taraf sy :) just Keep it up
No no no, not rich with knowledge, but with dedication... and that richness can bought food for thoughts, but cannot bought food for body.. thats poverty,
Dear Khanak, you have sung it very well as well. I just watched your rendition, it was simply superb! Lots of luck and splendid success in singing career!

Coke studio inke fun ka mohtaaz hai, ye unke nahi...apne mein ek misaal hain yeh.
Very accomplished group of Qawwals! Such a pleasure to listen to!

We need more of this kind of music. This is the real music! The Dream Journey awesome!
The 2 best renditions of this beautiful creation is by Ustaad Ameer Ali Khan and Ustad Farid Ayaz Qawwal.
In this you can have a peek into both love and God.

Heavenly voices....... gifted by God , to soothe our ears......👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
All the singers well trained n bless with good soul touching soul. May Allah bless them with success in their career. A'min
at first i was feeling very sorry for them but after listening them i realised that their poverty is their strength, they have pain in their music, With great power comes great responsibility, absence of something is also a presence of something, and that something is in their Music, No thanks to them, Beshak Sab Allah ki taraf sy :) just Keep it up
Who said they were poor? On the contrary they are rich with knowledge, culture and heritage that cannot be bought with money :-D .
No no no, not rich with knowledge, but with dedication... and that richness can bought food for thoughts, but cannot bought food for body.. thats poverty,
best chaap tilak...great...
Dear Khanak, you have sung it very well as well. I just watched your rendition, it was simply superb! Lots of luck and splendid success in singing career!
