- We've got our hands on this stunning look in to the world of Christopher Boone. This Tony and Olivier winning, aclaimed production is currently playing in London's West End and on Broadway.
Book today: www.londontheat...
I saw this last night. For those unaware, our friend Christopher has autism. The book starts with him wanting to find out who killed his neighbor's dog, Wellington. This show is brilliant and amazing at representing autism. However, I would strongly advise against taking an autistic person to see it. It's not insulting or anything, but one thing it really latched onto showing is over stimulation. Meaning when someone touched Christopher (Something many autistic people struggle with) The lights would flash, it would get loud, and he would scream. The point was probably to show how it felt. If I took my brother, or any of my friends (Who are, for the most part, autistic to some level), they would have had to leave before intermission. That being said, the show captures the book and the story very well. The characters and the thoughts of said characters are shown very well. Christopher's many quirks are done well, and are accurate to the people I see in my life. For instance, when he kinda...goes into his own world, it is shown as he would see it. Phenomenal show.
Blue Turtle I went and I have autism. Fantastic play.
He has Aspergers Syndrome actually
i agree. i have adhd and i get over stimulated very easily (obviously not as intensely as Christopher) but as amazing as it was it was very challenging to experience
Im autistic, i dont act like chris, anyone who actually believes all autistic kids act like chris need to shut the fuck up, Has chris ever heared of the word "don't" because using "do not" is not normal
I'm autistic and we're doing this show at our community theatre and I was thinking about auditioning for Christopher. I thought it'd be good to have someone with autism be in that role, is it a bad idea for me to audition?
Saw this show today in Toronto. If you are thinking that, maybe you would like to see this show. DO IT! It is outstanding!!!
I've been to see this a Gielgud Theatre a few months ago, and I really enjoyed the experience. I would definiely see this again!
Bro I would like to see asa butterfields take on Christopher
This short clip Quickly made me cry I have SO MUCH INVESTED IN THIS PLAY SAW 5X ON BWY
MADE ME DISCOVER I'M AUTISTIC
ALEX SHARP EXTREMELY AWESOME ACTOR 😍
I saw this show last night, and I can honestly say it was one of the most powerful, visually stunning pieces of theatre that I have seen in a long time. It's BRILLIANT!
+Justin Grant We are so glad you enjoyed the show!
+London Theatre Bookings I'm reading the book so don't be surprised if u spot me at the theatre soon
Justin Grant I traded a little bit at some parts cause this kid has autism and I have autism and I feel bad for Christopher sometimes
agreed my whole school sat there amazed was brill
Did you ask the autstic comuty if they were okay with it cssue you might be insluimg some people cause not every one with autstim act's like that
I'm being forced to read the book..
its a good book😒
Well that's your opinion...
ok just saying
I think it's amazing, but each to their own, if u really dislike it, why not watch it in theatre after to make sure u understand it all, if ur not interested in a book, it can be really hard to understand it fully, the theatre production is amazing and absolutely stunning!
Pink Clouds Ive read the book 6 times. Its so amazing! I hope you liked it.
We're doing a version of this at my high school and I'm playing Christopher
Cool! Will it be recorded?
Nice! My college did a version of this as well
did the train go to london?
nice, I’m playing Ed
@@NoName-ye2rf Our Ed Boone is really scary not gonna lie
I have autism and this book is such a middle finger to some really social autistic kids like myself and others, honestly most kids ive met that have high functioning autism do not speak the obvious like this, it was super annoying to see how they portrayed chris...(Seriously wtf)
It affects people in different ways
Umm, I have high functioning autism and Chris isn’t supposed to be relatable to everyone.
This show was BRILLIANT... some of the best theater I've seen on Broadway in a long time!!!
I loved this show I myself am autistic like Christopher and there were some points where I cried a little because I feel bad for the kid for what he goes through and someday I want the role of Christopher Boone
narh
I don't feel bad for Christopher. He's a mean little brat who treats his father terrible!
@@sofiastern1653His dad killed their neighbor's dog and hit him when he was angry. Also he lied about his mom being dead. Also he threw away the book he was working on. Christopher just wants to be left alone. This could be viewed as being ungrateful, but It's sort of explained that he has Aspergers and is just like that.
@@lydavis6712 Read the book again! Ed never hits Christopher. He's a very level-headed person. Christopher's mother was the one who hit Christopher when she was angry. And she abandoned both her husband and son. I feel sorry for Ed. Yes, he killed the dog but that was a mistake. He explains that. Christopher treats him as a monster despite everything Ed does for him. He's a single father who tries his best. He also loves Christopher more than anything and would never hurt him. He's the only one who understands him. Don't forget that Christopher is the one who hits people when he"s upset.
I know he has asperger. So do I. But that's no excuse to treat your loved ones bad.
I saw this over the weekend in Chicago, and I have to say this is the only show I've seen that mastered all of the little things in order to create something beautiful. The staging, music, projections (absolutely stunning design on those), and acting was all incredible. Best all around show I've seen in my life, I hope to see more in the future as powerful as this.
Doing this in drama right now😊❤️
Wow cool :D
same
Same
Maisie Woodruff same.
Maisie Woodruff same
Christopher: “I see everything!”
Me: “So you know who killed the dog?”
Christopher: *I did not see that!*
Ok, i originally loathed the book. Then i reread it. Then i saw the play.... can i just say hOLY MOTHER OF GOD THIS WAS THE ABSOLUTE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING IVE EVER SEEN THIS PLAY IS JUST. WOW.
I hate the book because of how his dad was treated
@Jesus él McNuggetCunt It was an accident. He's a good man
@@sofiastern8218 in the play it's shown he did it on purpose
@@sofiastern8218 the dad is a LOSER! haha
@@MyOwnWorld221 In the book the dog was attacking him and he just lost it;. So yes, he did it on purpose, and yes it was an accident, or at least completely unplanned.
I read the book. then out of no where I see this on my tv. it was life changing but I didn't expect a MUSICAL
Erica McCammon It's a play. There's some background music at parts but no singing or anything. And fun fact: the composition of the music is based off of prime numbers 👍 Also I like the name of your worm
I have Asperger’s Syndrome/ADHD and my theatre is doing Curious Incident. Even though I am female, I was casted as Christopher. It was a huge honor being casted in this role and I can’t wait to perform the show in April!!!!
hey, can you please stop use the word "aspergers" please ? the word was originated from a næzi called hans aspergers who experimented on autistic children and was involved in the kılling of a lot of autistic people. thank you. ^^" ( like, if the autistic person wasn't going to survive in the neurotypical world, they where kılled. )
This performance would make Christopher vomit. Too much nonsense going on, too noisy, too many people in the room, and too many bright lights and not having a clue as to why everyone is acting so strange and weird.
I'm a high school English teacher in California and my 12th graders are currently reading this book. I WISH there were a video of this entire play that I could purchase and show my students after we're done with the reading! Is there? I've tried to find such but I've come up empty...
I had to play the main character in this play, and good god it was the most abstract thing I could have ever tried to perform
Me too. Rehearsals just started for my theatre
I saw this show in London last Winter and it truly was absolutely incredible. The amount of technology, skill, and visuals used are just astounding.
if anyone is being forced to read the book here is basically the whole thing: Christopher is an autistic 15-year-old boy living in Swindon. He documents everything in his book which is what we read. He has a photographic memory and he hates everything yellow or brown. He's obsessed with prime numbers and math. He lives with his dad and his mom is "dead". One day, he finds his ( Mrs. shears) neighbor's dog dead and stabbed with a garden fork (the neighbor's dogs name is called wellington). The cops come and they ask him questions and then the policeman touches him so he freaks out and hits him (he doesn't like being touched). The cops bring him to the police station where his dad has to bail him out. Then he takes it upon himself to find out who killed the dog. He spends time investigating and getting clues and asking people. One day Christopher is being difficult so his dad hits him and then later apologizes. Then one day his dad finds out about him investigating and gets angry at him so he hides his book that he writes in. Christopher is upset so he goes looking for it and finds it but he also finds letters from his mother from after she died. Later on, he confronts his dad about it and he admits that his mother actually left them because they fought a lot and the mother couldn't put up with Christopher. He reveals she is alive and living in London with Mr. Shears and that he himself killed Wellington. Christopher gets mad and he runs away to London to be with his mother. Then, in the end, the Mom and Christopher go back to live Swindon and he visits his father every day.
thank you.
He should have stayed with his father. He was the most caring and loving of them
I'm reading the book currently. Once it reached the letters the mum had sent, and he said it was 18 months after mother died, I thought, "It was the father who killed Wellington as revenge to the Shears and made up the lie of her diying, didn't he?
I was right.
Moontato x the comedic irony of the book is that to everyone reading it it is obvious what happened, but to Christopher he doesn't put the pieces together. It's pretty funny but also quite sad (which is basically the book in a nutshell)
Well, he does have autism.
Oh also I already finished a book about a day later lmao.
I don't think it was revenge. I think his father is the most caring understanding of the parents.
Great book, but this looks annoying.
For some reason this reminds me of the illuminati
DiamondGirl XD is it the music? Because I can imagine why if so
this reminds ME of the Good Doctor
Undoubtedly the greatest play I've ever seen. While i do think that the first half had much more emotional value to it and the second half, it was all around a magnificent play, that set the bar for future plays really high.
That was absolutely. FUCKING. AMAZING. I FEEL LIKE THROWING UP IT WAS LITERALLY INCREDIBLE. DAVID AYER IS FUCKING BRILLIANT. Just Fucking Brilliant...
- P.S., no offence, but I probably do know what I'm on about. 5 years on the job at the prince eddie. Miss Saigon ;)
-P.P.S. really was there, not a troll. guard #5. yep, that WAS me :)
By the way guys, if theres anybody who needs some feedback, I will totally lend you a hand. No judgement here. :))
P.P.P.P.S (btw sorry I forgot the last one...we all make mistakes :P) BUT I can NOT guarantee that it's gonna be constructive. Sometimes...u've gotta burn bridges to build cities. and great actors...HAH. Peace out. x
Don't let anyone tell you you can't be what you want to be when you want to be. Because, you can. Good luck guys. You've got a fan here and I'm rooting for you. x (I swear this is my last one. LOL ROFL)
By the way, I wanted to make sure you all knew that I was NOT, repeat NOT, LIKING MY OWN COMMENTS LMAOHAHAHAHAHHA
Peace out, H8RS
Why did they have to portray a boy with autism as a borderline homosexual? In seconds they completely demolished the moral integrity of the novel.
Last year, I had the honor of playing the role of Christopher Boone in my theatre’s production of Curious Incident. It was truly an amazing learning experience. I’m actually having nostalgia watching this
Just saw this show earlier today and it took my breath away, I'm still speechless. Absolutley amazing.
who tf thought it was a good idea to make us study this shit 💀💀
fr
I remember studying this play for GCSE Drama and going to watch it, great play
Christopher is not thiiiiiiiis happy in the book.
This book sucks LMAO
Yeah because of how Christopher treats his father
I dont think you really know what's asperger syndrome, cause this people dont act that strange, they r just quiet people and they dont laugh like in the video!!! By the way toby was black and white...
btw toby is autistic not asperger
Baldy Playss to be fair, Aspergers has been included in the autism spectrum diagnosis recently in most countries, though it used to be referred to as "mild" or "high-functioning" autism. anyway, same thing, both is autism!
starry-eyed deer thank you for letting me know my friend! Learn something new everyday :)
A shame that the “UK ” never ever includes a single British overseas territory. This play would have total fulls during at least a weekend here at Grand Cayman. And I mention a weekend because perhaps you could visit Grand Cayman, Bahamas, Bermuda and Turk and Caicos in two weeks total.
Ah yes, I know... I’m dreaming.
Super good book

I hate how Christopher treats his father
Bruh my teacher wants us to see this vid
Eww the acting is horrible.
just finished reading the book, wish i could go see the play, it looks amazing!
My drama teacher makes me research this 😢
Christopher didnt die for this
0:36 damn that slide was smooth
This book was cool. We had to read it last year in English class.
As someone with autism myself, I am happy about the show coming to Carré in The Netherlands :) A teacher of mine once let me borrow the Dutch translated book in class, but I never got to finish it, because she needed it back soon, she was borrowing it too. I am curious about this, and how it went further (the book). I hope I can go see it!
Hoop dat je het boek toch ooit heb kunnen uitlezen, echt super goed! Moest het zelf voor Engels lezen maar ga 100% een copy kopen lmao
0:48 i don't think Christopher likes to be touched.
Doing this in school
I played Christopher in my GCSE Drama lessons for learning Frantic Assembly! I was absolutely believable when playing that character.
To everyone thinking of going to see this show, 2 words.
DO. IT.
I saw it this afternoon. It was both entertaining and beautiful. Please visit the theatre. It's absolutely stunning.
Saw the play yesterday. Most amazing production I have ever seen. The acting was very good and the visual and auditory effects were so realistic. 5 star rating from me.
I wished I could have seen this, but I just don't like it enforces stereotypes of autism
Aren't these OCD symptoms? Hating certain colors, needing order, etc
The main character has autism and it is a key feature throughout the whole of the story (at least in the book)
He might have OCD too lol
I saw this show the other day and it was the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen
One of the best performances I've ever seen! Totally recommend this!
Just finished performing this show for a one act contest last month. I played Christopher! It was a challenge for sure.
I’m also Christopher at my theatre
love this show i saw it on thursday with my school
spoiler he gets a puppy
He didn't deserve a puppy. He treated his dad like shit!
i so wish some studio would make a movie from this book
I saw this in London a few months ago and I can honestly say that nothing has touched me the way that this book and play did. If you can go and see it, it'll make you laugh, it'll make you cry and most of all it will make you think :)
I'm going this at Christmas and I'm playing Christopher so excited!!!!!
peach higgins how'd it go?
i watched this yeaterday amazing and i read the book 3 times
hands down my favorite play. had me sobbing my eyes out.
Isn’t he supposed to be 15? Guy looks 25
The book is awesome!
I hate it
this completely ruined my perspective on the book
Is there a version of this available to watch online anywhere? Really love the book, I'd love to watch this!
Lovely book but on the other hand
Looks superb! Just booked tickets for the upcoming show at the The Lowry, looking forward to it!
Matthew Lofthouse
Your hear from school, don’t lie
Correct
I saw the show at a community theatre in my town. For the second time last night. The first time was a couple years ago at a differant theatre. The one last night was even better. I actully auditioned to play christopher for that show. I got a callback and it was down to me and 2 other people, obviously i didnt get the role. But I went with my brother and it was amazing, so fun and very differanrt then any other play I saw or was in. I'm a theatre kid, so I have been acting in theatre since i was little. But this play and I read the book as well. My brother is autistic. He has a very mild bit of it. So he was fine. But I also have a little brother who is more suvere, to autism. I dont have it all which is a little weird since my older brother and little brother have it. But me, the middle kid nope🤣. I loved the show and how the lights and how he was drawing on the screen. The effects. All fantastic. I didnt even know this show was ever on broadway. maybe one day i can see it their. The times when i saw it. In a community theatre and the second in a school production. All the voices and extras were on stage and played christophers throughs and reactions and left the stage so they can change into the other character christopher would react with.
Good book.
CONFETTI!!
legorig yes a reference 👏🏼🎊
The book has PROFANITY and PHYSICAL HARASSMENT while the play is the LIGHTER SIDE.
Why use Jesus' name a curse word? Use something else. In a time when people talk about being sensitive to others, how can people still do this? Use someone else's name.
This is so cool
I'm gonna buy tickets for Chicago. Honestly I like the book because my teacher in English class made us read it!
I've seen both actors that play Christopher in the uk tour, I still can't get over how 3 people talk exactly the same. When I saw curious incident for the second time i was really confused if it was the same actor or not!
I had to read this book in 12th grade (I graduated in 2017) and when I read it or listened to the teacher reading it to our class, I could relate 100 percent to this guys aspergers....
But you could have skipped on saying the Lord's name fouly....
Jesus Christ!
This is really stupid im sorry but it is, if you read the book you would know what I'm talking about
I wasn't forced to read the book. It attracted me by its title & held me in its thrall throughout. Such poignancy is rare in today's novels, perhaps it always was. Have not seen the musical (an American living in France), but might someday. In the meantime, I have read two more books by MH, both v good. Autism makes life poetic as well as flagrantly mysterious. I love British lit.
We got to miss out on 2 hours of English today to watch the play instead and I bloody loved it! I’m not one for drama or things like that it’s just not something I’m interested in but this was extremely enjoyable to watch!
I'm just about through a dramatic reading of the book and I wish I lived somewhere I could ee this stage production. It sounds amazing!
This is possibly the play i will perform for my scripted peice. I am making sure i do a lot of research so i can accuratly portray the character. My teacher had recomended this to me but it does seem like a difficult role :)
does anyone know where we can see the full play as I need it for my Gcse exam tomorrow?
Read the book and was super excited to see that it’s a musical but the lights would make it nearly impossible to handle
Saw this a few days ago and I'm not going to lie
This play has literally the best music ever playing for it.
I saw this earlier today, after having met the main lighting technician at Piccadilly Theatre. A great production, would highly recommend.
I LOVED THE BOOK AND I JUST NEED TO SEE THIS LIVE ACTION ❤❤❤😭😭
I've got the book, my best friend sennun from Irish dancing gave it me and some other stuff 😬 I decided to research it
I really enjoyed it, it's probably my favourite production and always will be, because the characters are all unique, it tells a good story even if in modern society, just the overall play is fantastic, especially at representing how Christopher sees the world in his eyes and how he copes
Chose to read the book as a reading assignment in school and may be going on a school trip to see it in a few weeks. Cant wait.
I hate my English teacher for making me read this crap.
this play is based on the book ‘the curious incident of the dog in the night-time’ and i recommend it! it’s a real good book :)
had to read that book for class, I didn't but still got an A on the exam MOUHAHAHAHAH
I have just got home after seeing this performance, and I can safely say that this was the best piece I have ever seen, I was never a fan of physical theatre, but after seeing this, it's convinced me otherwise!
My brother got the main part Christopher in his GCSE drama play. It was so amazing.
I saw this once and fell instantly in love~ I NEED TO SEE IT AGAIN😍😍❤️❤️
this kid goes way too hard emphasizing his words. needless to say I loved the book and really want to see this play
