A great way to mend tools in a mob grinder is to hold the broken tool in your off hand while using your sword in your main hand. The slots that mend when you gain XP are your armor, your main hand, and your off hand.
For future - use carpets instead of slabs in rooms you want to keep flat floors in, this has the same effect of stopping spawns, but keeps a much nicer aesthetic, while also being easily renewable even in a challenge like this.
I guess that's good advice, as long as you actually like the look of Minecraft carpets. I tend to prefer bare wooden slab floors, acacia being a particular favorite of mine. Acacia is the best looking wood in Minecraft and nobody can tell me otherwise.
Just put the pick in your offhand... It'll heal while you swipe with your sword in your main. You can put literally any item in your offhand. You can either do it manually from the inventory, or just hit the F key.
That's for Java only. Bedrock only allows a few items. Maps and shields being allowed in the offhand, but not tools or food. I don't know which version of the game Nifty is playing, but I hope this explains him not putting things in his offhand if it is bedrock. Outside of that, this is a good tip 👍
@@bonnietelocole6777 well, considering he's playing hardcore, I'm going to assume this is Java. Because bedrock doesn't have hardcore. Also, the villagers seem to have full trades, like in Java. So. This is Java.
9:25 It's not just with bows! It works with all tools that decay! I enjoy doing that with my diamond pickaxes to make them last just a liiiittle bit longer Also, at 4:53, you could put slabs (instead of trapdoors) over light blocks and the light will still come through!
Pro-tip: You can get infinite water once you have a full cauldron, a bucket and a glass bottle. Glass bottles can be refilled infinitely from a single water source block, so fill the cauldron back up using the glass bottles on the source block, then bucket the cauldron's water and you now have infinite water source blocks. Witches are OP in Superflat challenges. ;-)
Pat, love the content! Little tip, when you enchant, using netherite is far better and doesn't actually use more levels, just a rare resource in normal Minecraft, so not worth doing it there with combining
You can combine partial cauldron water with a bottle. Once you get a full cauldron, grab it with a bucket and place it as a water source. Then you can get unlimited bottles of water from the water source to fill another cauldron and make another water source. So you get infinite water from a single full cauldron which could have had somewhat early on.

Hey! I love your content, and I think it's so cool how you're always learning more ins and outs of minecraft. It's always super interesting and engaging. This is just letting you know about another one of Minecraft's cool little tricks! You could've gotten infinite water a bit earlier from two ways. If the sponges at the beginning were wet sponges, you could smelt them in the furnace to dry them out. If you use a lava bucket to do this, and you don't take the empty bucket out as soon as it starts burning, the wet sponge will fill the empty bucket with water. The second way also involves the cauldrons! Using a bunch of cauldrons was a really good idea as it speeds the process up a bit, but once you have one bucket of water (using water bottles to consolidate as you did in the video), if you place that source, you can use water bottles to fill up the cauldron again if you fill the bottles from the source block. Super cool video, and a wonderful concept. Keep up the good work, and keep learning!
just so you know... you can make a barrel with a 6 wood and two slabs, and get a fisherman, who might sell fish in a bucket! which gives you water, but love the vid
i love your content nifty!! it just killed me when you used a netherite pick on melons instead of an axe, and left the wet sponges at the begining which could have given you soooo much water
There is actually a suspicious stew that you can make at the beginning of the game that returns 9 hunger bars, you use a dandelion when crafting it. So if you have a dandelion make sure to bonemeal the hell outta it so you can have all that you need when you find mushrooms.
you cant use bonemeal on a dandelion to dupe it, that trick only works on large flowers (although you could bonemeal grass a bunch to get a near endless supply of dandelions)
For future reference you can also glass bottle a water block for 1/3 of a cauldron and the water source will stay, so you can create infinite water with one block and a cauldron... But it was still enjoyable to watch the struggle 😄
