Nice one TAYM, I met an Italian couple on the isle of Skye a few years ago, the husband was on a GS 1200 and the wife on a Vespa 300, they had rode all the way from Italy so the little Vespa is certainly capable of long distance touring.....😊
I know I’ve said it before, commuted on 50-125cc bikes for nearly 40 yrs little cubs etc. then bought a”engine seized “ xmax250 as a project was so cheap. Owned by a big boss of first direct bank as a toy. Took a van and mate to push up ramp. Wouldn’t move! Went to Halfords bought £30 socket set. Removed both brake calipers and pushed up ramp. Not seized at all. Went to Spain and back a couple of times on it. Changed the variator weights which reduced the acceleration but made a more comfy cruise for long distance. Once you’ve owned one they really are addictive as such easy transport. Horrific prices new. Very easy diy too.the plastics keep the frame clean and belt change 12k miles. If buy lidl power socket gun easy belt change. The only thing is I would go for the bigger wheel ones due to our horrible roads. That roundabout in your last vlog horrendous holes bad with small wheels. Glad you featured it. I prefer the x max type than this but haven’t ridden one since handlebar change 2 stroke in 1976😂. The other thing u mention is weather protection on my honda 90s your feet were soaked as was the rest of you. On my x max almost dry unless driving rain. Feet not freezing. Easy to clean and no chain maintenance. All the engine and electrics are under the seat and well protected from the elements. The only negative in my view is tyre change rear wheel. Exhaust off, brake caliper, part of frame (on some) and wheel. At a dealer a few Bob. Also they all have centre stand. Fab winter bikes. Cruise at 70 plus if you want.love the way you ride so many different bikes.
Brill vlog Mr TAYM. I always looked down on scooters in my early biking days in the late 70's etc. Then on our honeymoon in 84, we hired a Vespa 200 and trundled all over Majorca. Never again did l knock scooters!! Absolutely brilliant fun!! Regards, Mo 🛵😊👍
Just over a month ago, I bought a '24 300 GTS "Classico" in Beige Avvolgente, identical to this one...except I added a smoked flyscreen and a rear rack. She's absolutely marvelous!
Yes, the screen should be fitted to them all I reckon. I did have a look at the screens 😁 they have them all on display on the wall in the showroom 😁 thanks Victor 😁
I have one, and use it for everything. 100km on a highway is a piece of cake, and curvy mountain roads are a feast! And it feels fast within the speed limits! Plus the fact that you can hang a big backpack between your legs and keep other stuff under the seat.
I had 2. Never thought I would but they are brilliant. Quick and nimble. Traded for xmax300 which is way better at speed but loses a bit of the town nimbleness. Had that 4 years, best general use bike I.ve ever owned. Will probably get another at some point but sold to make room for the bsa a7 on yesterday's epic taym production. 👍👍
I think I mentioned last time you test rode this scooter the BMW C400GT or X depending on your preference for looks. I’ve been biking since the 70’s never sat on or ridden a scooter and never had an inclination to try one. In 2022 decided for no particular reason to get one so did something never tried before ordered from a dealer few hundred miles away and had it delivered few days later. I have the C400GT it is a 350cc not sure why it’s called the 400. I use it all year for everything and anything shops trips whatever. It has great specs including heated grips and seat, twin disc Bybre radial mounted brakes with steel hoses. ABS & traction control, 15 inch front and 14 inch rear at 120 and 150 width so has pretty good handling. It’s pretty nippy as well tops out about 95mph so motorway speed and easy even two up. Pillion comfort is really good as well and with all that it still averages about 80mpg. On the downside they are expensive new but a used one with very little miles can be had for 6k or less, I got mine two years old but with only 390 miles so still like new and not even run in.
Great review Mr Taym I had one a GT300 used it for work fantastic mpg the only down side is if it goes over the bodywork takes a right knocking and is then like a car to repair, upside it will do motorways all day long they are governed to 80mph. Ride safe and keep them videos coming 😊
Looks fun, have never tried a scoot, might have to add another thing to the bucket list :) As my dad used to say, 3rd class riding beats 1st class walking!
They are a crackin little machine TAYM, me and the Mrs will be off touring Spain and Portugal again this year on the GTS300, a lovely way to bimble about in the sunshine, with a rack on the front and back it’s surprising how much you can pack on the little donkey, and you always get a warm welcome when you arrive at your hotel on a bright yellow Vespa!
My trip to Sorrento reminded me just how much Italians LOVE their scooters with a passion that we can't understand here in the UK where they are regarded as boring, but practical. Not so in Italy where they are seen as a reflection of La Dolce Vita.
haha - glad you did this ride- and mentioned me - I'm RC (Rich) from Florida with the orange Vespa who's been sending you the pix. I've had it up to a true 80MPH on the major freeways here often with no problems at all. I love it. UA-camr Warro (from Australia) rides a 300GTS and an Enfield 350 and has said the Vespa's faster. always enjoy your rides & mutters - thanks.
I bought a used GTS300 about 18 months ago and I find it brilliant fun to ride, it dovetails nicely with my big bike and my RE Himalyan. Mine has the smaller Vespa screen that does take a lot of windblast of your chest. This machine is so easy to ride and frugal on fuel. Having owned old 2 stroke manual gear Vespas in the past, I can say this is in a totally different league.
Enjoy your ride out and comments about the GTS.I,ve had one a few years now great bit of kit.Yes l do scooter rallies up and down the land and over to Europe Never missed a beat.Still got the 2 strokes can't beat that.👍👍
I actually quite like the Vespas. Stylish and surprisingly functional. Have you considered presenting to camera a bit more? It would be nice to see your face 😉You could get a small portable tripod. We’ve got one that folds up to 8 inches! 👍🏼👍🏼
Remember when you rode this before. Loads of fun just twisting and going, I had a Gilera DNA180 for my missus to use many years ago which was a scooter made to look like a motorbike. I remember the handling mostly, the 2 wheels felt like they had no connection with each other ! .. like taking 2 Jack Russel's for a walk on separate leads!! I'm sure the Vespa is much better, thanks TAYM.
Hiya TAYM I think these are brilliant little scooters my friend has one tho I’ve never tried one and great colours as you say Great little review and ride Loved that mate 😊😊😊 Phil
A marvellous, marvellous, marvellous, marvellous scooter with a marvellous, marvellous, marvellous, marvellous price. On a more serious note I love scooters,Sir. I own a Yamaha XMax 300cc scooter. But the Vespa looks nicer and classical. Cheers.
Yup, Dobbs should definitely get one. It'll go with his beige chinos and espadrilles a treat. Talking about FD i expect you'll be reviewing his tool rolls soon, a bargain price at £93 for an offcut of wax cotton. I think he's called em Labia Minora, which coincidentally is the name of my favourite Bond Girl.
my gran went on holiday from holland to italy with the 125 Vespa back in the sixties, husband and wife, a tent and some luggage tied to the rack, hardly any motorways back then
If you want to nip around town or a commute to work then this has got to be on the list but I guess some can’t get around the fact that it is a scooter . Thanks TAYM
Love that and the colour is just right....Quadrophenia. ...down the coast we go...needs more mirrors haha. Thanks for posting pics of my dog Sally on Fridays mutter brought back great memories. Thanks TAYM 😊😊
I know a guy who road from Auckland to Tauranga on a Vmax 300 & back.Legendary status that journey.HE said he just road to the left about & did 95kmh all the way with odd squirt to 105kmh. These a Scandinavian tourist in NZ 🇳🇿 at moment riding around NZ 🇳🇿 on a 50cc Scooter 🛵 loaded up with tail bags etc cruising along at 45-50kmh😂🤣.
If you are thinking about getting a Vespa GTS300, I STRONGLY suggest getting a used NON HPE one. The newer HPE models require DOUBLE the maintenance of the older non HPE models, and still have a truckload of problems. Mostly electronic issues, but they also break belts like crazy, often under 6000 miles, when the first major $500+ USD service is required. At the very least, a broken belt will leave you stranded, and at the worst will lock up the rear wheel and cause a serious crash. I have a light mint green 2006 GT200 that I bought in like new condition with 1800 miles on it. For $2200 from a private seller. And that included a new in box color matched Vespa top box. It now has 14,000+ mostly highway miles on it, and has only had 2 problems, both of which happened not long after I bought it. The vacuum petcock failed, and the water pump started leaking. I fixed both myself. It was 10 years old when I bought it, and with only 1800 miles, it had obviously sat around quite a bit. I did a full service on it at 10,000 miles, the original belt still looked like new. The GT200 is a carbureted scooter, and doesn't have all the TRASH technology that the new ones do. In the U.S., a new Vespa GTS300 HPE will cost you over $11,000 USD after tax, title, registration, freight, dealer prep, doc fees, and whatever the stealer dealer decides to add on. In addition to my 2006 GT200, I also have a 1979 Vespa P200E, 2 stroke, air cooled, manual shift, manual clutch, kick start only, premix scooter. It is WAY more fun to ride than the modern ones, but not fast enough or reliable enough to ride on some roads.
Recently did UK - southeast Spain - UK on 22 GTS125 - went like a dream (17 stone plus luggage) will now look to upgrade to 300 (another test unfortunately)
Comfortable and enjoyable also you don’t get your feet and legs wet I’d have one a very smart machine that does it all, nice one for sharing buddy 👍🏻😊👍
been ridding now for over 40 years ,been riding scoots for 20 years now, 110/125/300,would like both motor bike and scoot, now been looking at the 350 hunter,
I love the castle's pond, where you go mostly with Italian bikes.. Just marvelous, what are ducks thinking of the Vespa? You know my opinion, I love them .. I am looking for another one, maybe bigger .. Burgman 🤔🤔 Or something in that style.
I had one when they first came out in the uk, about 2008 from memory. Fantastic machine,‘economical, reliable and used to shock the 600s off the lights who used to think it was a 50cc. It’s alright not brilliant on motorways but I tended to use A roads. Took mine to France. My only criticism is that you only had to look at the exhaust and it rusted and parts and cheap. I would definitely have another as a second bike.
Take a test ride in Barnsley South Yorkshire, the roads are so in disrepair that on a motorcycle you would have the ultimate experience. The roads you are on are properly maintained.
Neat wee bike. My m8 has got a 350 scooter. I think it's Swm ? Maybe. Massive seat feet forward what a laugh. Does 120k and is super quick around town. Weird having the front and rear brake on the handle bar, but once you're used to the twist and go, it's not bad for around the town
Great looking little scooter, if I lived in a town or commuted I'd love one! Your right about Freddie, he should stick to something simple to look after 🤣
I am an old motorcylclist. I lost my right leg to cancer. My wee brother bought me a Vespa Primavera 125 last year for my 70th birthday. I love him and I love the scooter. I think I would like a 300 to go with the 125.
I would like one. But I would have to conquer gears first to get the A2. Where I live is lumpy. There is always a climb on any journey. And a 125cc copes, but only copes.
Gordon Bennett TAYM a scooter on the channel what ever next electric push bike 😳😬 thinking about it I could see you riding that down washboard rd especially now your getting on a bit 😂😂 carry on that man Caio for now or should that be tat tar for now 😉👍🏻
Perfect for nipping to the Coffee Shop or going to work, absolutely ideal for Freddie Dobbs 🤣 but I just have one question TAYM 🤔did it make you want to go to Brighton and fight some rockers on the beach ?🤣🤣🤣
Sorely tempted to get one to compliment my RE. People dismiss scoots but they're so practical. I had a gilera 200 2 stroke that went like the proverbial off a stick. I could have a rocker day, then a mod day for a bit of variety.
@@loki1066 no worries. Most people say 180 is an odd number, except for those of us who have experienced the 180. Never too late to buy another one. A mate has found his first bike and re bought it. 😎
@@RedlandShed nearly got a 200 , I think they were called a vxr. Thought it might be quicker than the 180, but after trying both I got the 180. I laughed all the way home from Chelmsford, beating everything away from the lights.
I’ve had a Harley for years and now a 2023 Vespa 300 GTS SuperSport and I ride it everywhere, while the poor Harley sits lonely in the garage. The Vespa is enormously practical and incredible fun to ride. 🙂
You could put some large orange spots on it,and call it the flying 🦒. That would be classic people seeing you stopping to talk to the giraffe on your way to work,on a 🦒 scooter 😂😂. I've had a few scooters in the past (not Vespa's),and it still shocks me how unfriendly people are towards you if you take it to the local bike meet 🤔
Oh no! You've done it again🛵🛵 😁😁. Actually, riding a scooter is fun and it's OK as long as no one sees you 🤣🤣😂😂. I would not want to hit a pothole on one. It sounds exactly like a hair dryer! I'll take the R.E. Classic 350 thank you..... Haughley castle has the best defence; stealth 🤣🤣.
TAYM's new channel for 2024! TAYSB ( the all year scooter boy) coming soon ! 😂 But seriously, this is why I want to get the Honda Trail 125. Just because I don't like that scooter look, a little to feminine for me. I maybe programed to think that way. I would rent one on a vacation, but I would not own one for every day use. But there is something about that Trail125 , it might be that big plate on the back for a box, I don't know. But thanks for the ride this morning and it did sound good for a 300!
My last bike was a 1976 750 bonneville which was very unreliable after coming from 250 Yamaha which I passed my test on I got feed up have my bonneville fixed the last straw was when the woodruff key slot for the charger magnet went to big after a temporary fix I got rid and put the money towards the deposit on my house which I still live in 40 years later the only two wheels I have rode was when on holiday in Cuba I hired a Chinese scooter for the day which was great I the hot weather but come up to 70 I will be staying driving my car
Scooters never appealed to me, smallest cc bike I owned was an RG80 back in the mid 90s, then a GN125. Seems expensive for a scooter? As for Mr Dobbs, I suggested he should get one of those peddle/electric bikes when his bonnie was giving him trouble, he should be no where near a motorbike 😂 I'm contemplating getting a mid 70s CB750. Have the GS1250 and I'm mulling it over. It would probably bankrupt me though 😂
Hi TAYM just dropping you a line, have you seen the prices of the Enfields lately, my jaw just dropped there selling interceptor 650s 24 plate brand new for £4,999 +on the road charges, this is 6 years on from when they first came out in 2018, when they were £5,500 + on the road charges, WOW Enfield really has screwed customers over with a price drop like that, I bought mine new in 2022, the orange crush for £6,040 on the road, not only has the customer been screwed on price but we have also lost a lot of dealer networks as motorbike gn are nolonger the importers so I certainly will not recommend Enfield as a good purchase anymore, secondhand prices are absolutely ridiculous what you are being offered in part exchange. You are losing well over half price, not a good investment anymore, and also with reliability issues as well, I just think that you need to get this message out to the public, I am very disappointed in the brand, once bitten twice shy as I say. I certainly won't be back there again All the best Pete
Yes Pete 😁 it’s a mess isn’t it 😁 I think I will mutter about it rather than in this comment 😁 but you are right and like a lot of others, confidence in the brand has been diminished 😁
I can see the attraction of Vespas but they are so ludicrously over priced in my opinion. I grew up in the 60's Mod and Rocker era and, as you said, scooters were the enemy!
That's wot u need RR. You'll need pointy shoes, sideburns, tight trousers and Italian girlfriend with massive outstanding features... like her own flat in Rome... and a skinny tie and listen to The Who.😂😂
I award you multiple Purple Cross’s for outstanding achievements for 1st place. Primary teachers often awarded me gold stars, lol. Rode to Thames today, the both of us on the Triumph. Awesome weather. Cheers.

Thanks Gerald 😁 very interesting 😁

Comfortable and enjoyable also you don’t get your feet and legs wet I’d have one a very smart machine that does it all, nice one for sharing buddy 👍🏻😊👍

been ridding now for over 40 years ,been riding scoots for 20 years now, 110/125/300,would like both motor bike and scoot, now been looking at the 350 hunter,
Yes, the Hunter, incredible value and a marvellous bike 😁 thanks RE😁
l think everyone should have a scooter in their collection, great fun 👍
Absolutely 😁 thanks MP 😁
I love the castle's pond, where you go mostly with Italian bikes.. Just marvelous, what are ducks thinking of the Vespa? You know my opinion, I love them .. I am looking for another one, maybe bigger .. Burgman 🤔🤔 Or something in that style.
Excellent 😁 how’s the project 😁 thanks Stefan 😁
@@TAYM Everything is on hold, my knee is worse then expected... I am due to 'knee mechanic' tomorrow.
@@Stefan_trekkie good luck with that 😁
I had one when they first came out in the uk, about 2008 from memory.
Thanks DB 😁 yes, a great runaround 😁
I like to shop for a new small motorcycle but my xmax 300 can do 80 mph so I have to ask myself, what would I be gaining?
Very good point 😁
Take a test ride in Barnsley South Yorkshire, the roads are so in disrepair that on a motorcycle you would have the ultimate experience. The roads you are on are properly maintained.
Thanks Daryl 😁 I am currently working on a video on the state of the roads 😁
Volt, were you in the movie "a clockwork orange" and by the way I like this color.
😂😂 thanks Rob 😁
Neat wee bike. My m8 has got a 350 scooter. I think it's Swm ? Maybe. Massive seat feet forward what a laugh. Does 120k and is super quick around town. Weird having the front and rear brake on the handle bar, but once you're used to the twist and go, it's not bad for around the town
Brilliant 😂😂 thanks IT 😁
Great looking little scooter, if I lived in a town or commuted I'd love one! Your right about Freddie, he should stick to something simple to look after 🤣
😂😂😂😂 thanks S 😁
Wow! How much fun would that be!! I would love to have something like that or a Honda Trail 125. So much fun 😂😂😂
Exactly 😁 thanks TR😁
I am an old motorcylclist. I lost my right leg to cancer. My wee brother bought me a Vespa Primavera 125 last year for my 70th birthday. I love him and I love the scooter. I think I would like a 300 to go with the 125.
Don’t you just love brothers 😁 fantastic 😁 thanks Patrick 😁 I hope you are clear now after such a sacrifice 😁
Morning Taym 😊 Freddie's wife would love it. Go to the Seaside and have a fight 😤 with the Rockers 😂😂😂

Sorely tempted to get one to compliment my RE.
People dismiss scoots but they're so practical. I had a gilera 200 2 stroke that went like the proverbial off a stick.
I could have a rocker day, then a mod day for a bit of variety.

You could put some large orange spots on it,and call it the flying 🦒. That would be classic people seeing you stopping to talk to the giraffe on your way to work,on a 🦒 scooter 😂😂. But seriously, this is why I want to get the Honda Trail 125.

I certainly won't be back there again
All the best
Pete
