I can somewhat understand Chad's children not wanting to put blame on their father, but there is NO excuse/reason for the way they denigrated their mother for Chad's guilty self.

Agree as well and the fact that they were willing to commit perjury on behalf of their father and denigrate their mother leaves them without excuse. Their lack of emotion leads me to believe that they did it for the insurance money Chad bestowed on them. They may have to give it back since old dad was found guilty.

IMO, Emma and Garth Daybell were raised to believe their father was a visionary and the authority of that family. So, he is to blame for calling them to testify. He is too much of a coward to take the stand, and apparently coached them on their statements.

I also found it extraordinary that a younger woman like Tammy died unexpectedly and there was no legal requirement for an autopsy.
I live in the UK and all unexpected deaths eg no recent relevant medical history, no recent contact with a medical doctor would require an autopsy (regardless of age).

Chad, Lori and their group were practicing LDS. I think Chad was executive secretary in his ward up until his arrest I believe.
What the LDS church leaders have failed to do is speak out about the extreme prepper beliefs, NDE's and visions many of this group claim to have.

Chad Daybell charged with murder (among other things) not because there is direct evidence that he killed anyone himself but because he was the mastermind behind the killings.

I think that if you look at the book Visions of Glory, you will see-that Chad’s beliefs are not his own. This book is a supposed personal narrative about a near death experience. There are whole groups of people who read this and use it as a blueprint for their own spiritual experiences. People actually believe that others are. Possessed by evil spirits and need to be destroyed. So it’s not just Chad and Lori.

Mike, I am a true fan, and I see your point about the initial difficulty for Arizona LE to prove malice in Charles’s shooting. However, even if they had no other information about the players leading up to his death, the mere fact that he was shot and killed should be enough to warrant a cursory investigation. It should be standard procedure, in “self defense” cases, to restrict travel outside the state of the named parties until interviews are conducted that confirm the events leading up to the killing, imo. One phone call to Adam, Colby, or Kay would have been enough to raise suspicions.

What you were talking about being wacky vs criminal reminds me of Minority Report. You can't arrest people on the possibility of them committing criminal acts because they have the choice to not go through with it to the very last millisecond before they do. Unfortunately, it is when that bad choice is done that they then must reap the consequences of that action and we can truly judge if they would have done it, because they did.

30:43 I understand his point of view; that if Lori truly believes in Chad’s belief system she wouldn’t hide her crimes. However, I think Lori does truly believe AND she also thinks that “normal” people wouldn’t understand what she “had” to do.
In my mind, it’s more complicated than just: Lori doesn’t *actually* believe because she lied.
36:07 - here he says that Lori does truly believe, so I think he understands it’s more complicated than simply that Lori doesn’t actually believe.
I think this nuance is important to understand so that religious crimes like this don’t continue happening.

People in high demand religions are no more inclined to violent behavior than any other demographic. The difference is that a warped sense of righteousness comes from a bona fide belief system.
Really, what draws your audience is the curiosity we all have about these high demand groups. I think the majority of your audience members are never-mos. What i appreciate so much about your channel is the empathy you retain for FLDS and LDS members while acknowledging the issues there.
You might want to connect with Frieda Vizel, who grew up chassidic in Williamaburg, a kind of Shortcreek of Hassidic Jews in New York. I would be fascinated by the overlap Judaism and Mormonism have; for example, garments and tallit. Also, just the pressure to "put it on the shelf." Just a thought! I think a collab would help boost audience for the both of you.
