Lin’s death perfectly captures why the boss/player in SR2 is so protective over shaundi , it’s heavily implied that the boss not only has PTSD from SR1 but he also still blames himself for not being able to save Lin . While yes the Boss is a killer and a greedy person . But the Boss values loyalty above everything else plus I think this also has to do with Julius and dex’s betrayal of the player in SR1 game . That’s why the player values loyalty over everything else plus while the boss rules by fear , he genuinely cares about his crew especially shaundi , pierce and Carlos . I love how the developers didn’t make the boss the stereotype gangster , instead they made him a mix of a gangster and a comedian . Like Deadpool , Rip Michael Clark Duncan who voiced Benjamin king in this game . Rip the actor who voiced Willam sharp , he also passed away a few years ago .
