Wow, what an excellent collection of Britains ACW Swoppets. I've got about 80 pieces plus a few cowboys myself which I've collected in recent years to add to what I had as a kid 50+ years ago...
Awesome..its swoppet appreciation time! I'm looking at 108 pieces now with some Britains and First Legion metal thrown in: flag bearers, drummers ,officers some of which I bought 15 yrs ago.. Working with Featherstone rules tho I am aware of others which differ. Its fun.. a great hobby. Sounds like we are having similar experiences. I never knew they were called swoppets until a few yrs ago.
Owned many of the Swoppet figures as a kid back in the early '70's along with some Herald and Britains deetail figures. Received the Confederate artillery piece as a Birthday present about 1973. My favourite piece along with the standard bearers from each side. Sadly many have disappeared over the years but did manage to replace the cannon with a mint boxed Union version about 12 years ago for about €10.00 off Ebay imported from the US to the UK, an absolute bargain! Anyone interested in the ACW would definitely recommend the movies "Glory", "Gettysburg" and the tv series "North an South" if you have not already seen them. Best wishes from England.
I have been purchasing swoppets the last couple of years; even recently ,through suggestion of Jimmy to check out Ebay, which has resulted in some good deals for me. I have definitely noticed that the older ones from the mid-60s are much more brittle then the ones I'm also purchasing from the mid-70s. Anyway, as it is Rev War 250 I am looking to build an army that represents all units involved ;will take some time. The Brits will be his Majesty's 23rd Regiment of foot.. the Royal Welch fusiliers.
@@alexgramm5170 Excellent Alex...yes mine were mostly from the 1960's...I was born in 1960. Yet some I bought as a 'big kid' have fallen apart sadly too. But i still have a lovely collection which I am proud of which also include the Britains Zoo animals from that period.
@@michaelthornley I'm a 66 edition myself! Ha! They do have quite a variety of swops. The knights are particularly colorful. Ebay and Etsy have many. I have a bit of the collecting bug now.
Love it! 14 yr. Old kid in my 54 yr.old body..full gun limbers with horse..excellent paint..did you modify some poses for gun emplacement men..anyway a second view is in order.bravo sir.
@@jimmyeverett3504 It takes some time as money will allow..you have quite the artillery. Maybe you have heard of Osprey books. I have one called the Army of N. Virginia..good illustrations. I have a few reference books on Rev War soldiers. I've been making miniature stone walls they look good. Long live swoppets!
@@jimmyeverett3504 Checking out vid again.. great sound effects..do you wargame with them at all? Anyway take care tnx for reply . I'm soon to make another purchase fill out my marching ranks a bit. I've been getting swoppets from toysoldierco.com.
@@alexgramm5170 They were too expensive for me. I waited and finally started with a very big collection off Ebay. The larger the collection the cheaper each piece.
@@jimmyeverett3504 Good idea..they are pricey about $16 a man..a scout I have they ask $60 for.I've been checking them out on ebay too definitely men there.
So great! ..did you add the backpack gear yourself? I've been building on AWI swoppets I purchased in 1980. Had about 15 total Brits and Continentals now about 30 a side with Britain's and First Legion metal commanders and flag bearers..drummers. Im enjoying this hobby immensely.
VERY COOL ! I bought my first in '68 and I am still collecting...Thanks for the video.

Ken Burns documentary series deserves a mention too.
Wow! Terrific! Swoppets and Eyes Right are prone to cracking as they become brittle with age!
Hi...yes the 60's edition are more brittle..however I have been able to find the 70's AWI online and very good to mint condition.
Just great!I have a few of these and the Confederate Cannon team.
Amazing collection of Britains.
They are in great condition. Sadly some of my Swoppets have not fared well over the years.

I collected a full set of union and confederate armies. Just a few battered pieces left now. They are much missed.

No mods, but did replace 2 blue with 2 grey in the confederate artillery section, finally!

No. Lots of questions myself. White and red union knapsacks, grey and tan wheels, etc.
I owned a couple of officers and 4 British infantry AWI. I ended up moving to wargames 25mm models.
I'm getting into the wargaming aspect. I did once have long ago Airfix awi that might have been smaller than 28.
Toys name im want buy it
I'm wondering..do you think these were originally hand painted?
Are these for sale? Interested if the price is reasonable.
