This is such a great example of how well Con creates ensembles that are such perfect fits for songs has selected; the dynamic duo of Con and George, with the added clout and skills of Dusty, create such a phenomenal rendition of a classic...and those young ladies, wow. I seem to gravitate especially to the songs recorded in this 'Red Carpet Studio'. Thanks for all the great music HSCC!!
I agree, the mix is excellent. the overall presentation was tight as a drum. and I'm sorry but chick backup singers make me weak. glad to have found the HSCC
After reading your comment, I went back and listened again, and again, and again. You're right, the mixing engineer did a fantastic job. And while they all sounded great, I thought the guy on the Les Paul really rocked it. Phoenix, AZ.
I haven't heard this song for a long time, and I had to listen to the Doobies original after hearing this version, and I have to say that I think this version blows the original out of the water, in my opinion.
whoever did the engineering on this deserves a medal or something, its so dialed in, sounds just like the record! Well done everyone, definitely the best classic rock cover I've ever heard, fantastic job!!
There are some hella good cover bands on YT-to name a few not in any particular order: Lexington Lab Band, Leonid & Friends, Martin Miller, Foxes and Fossils, all excellently engineered and in many cases better than the originals in my opinion. Surfing cover bands is my latest obsession.
As a producer I simply love the Energy,Precision, Drive and Fun that simply radiates from your different performances. Along with the musical abundance, skills and talent you all have, that's what put you on my top 5 hit list. And this version of my #1 Doobie Brothers All time Favourites. Wow !!
YES!! THANK YOU!! I'm the biggest Doobie Brothers music fan on the planet for 50 years. This was outstanding! Little known fact about this recording by the Doobie Bros. It was widely known as the "best in-studio recording" for many years...The Curve on a spectrum analyzer known at the "China Grove Curve" was used for years for duplication. Bravo here...YOU NAILED IT !!!
Amazing Cover! The guitars are great, but the secret to this sounding so good is the rhythm section. The drummer and bass player are locked in so well and nail the groove perfectly. The bassist absolutely nails Tiran Porter's funky groove on this.
The audience connection is so real, with all the band members enjoying and having a blast, everybody having good times. Thank you so much HSCC for your music.
Friggin nailed it, man. Well done. Love the girls -- their voices really add a nice dimension to this song plus it doesn't hurt that they appear to be having a great time.
1978 Enlisted Marine Club, MCAS Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, New Years party. I kicked it off by putting a quarter in jukebox and playing the Doobies. China Grove; one of my absolute favorites. I have been married to my date for over 42 years now. Your cover is awesome. Thank-You. Semper Fi.
Outstanding job! Growing up with the Doobie's and listening to them ALOT, they were definitely on the party list to listen to. You guys did an AWESOME cover of China Groove. Brought back a lot of memories from the 70's. 51 years later..... MAN, life is short and quick.
You did it again!! I close my eyes and it is July, 1989 and I am once again attending the Doobies' concert in Lake Placid, NY! Thank you for your hard work and the joy you all obviously take in these weekly works of art.
Heyyy everyone, great performance. Great guitar work and keyboard work. Nice job by all the vocalists. I really like the drum work and sound in this performance. I wish we could have had more of a view of the drums. Awesome job by everyone, great song choice!! 👏😊
This appeared again on my computer, and just had to play it again. Absolutely brilliant. Dont need to hear this again from the Doobies. Its here. Special mention for the guitarrists and sound technicians. This is so good. Thanks
The mix and the performances are flawless. I thought it was a video for their studio recording, but at 02:53 you can hear the tone change when the Les Paul steps on the first pedal. It's so great to hear real music with real musicians.
Big part of getting a cover like this right is the background singers, and these three nail it (yes, the bass player is singing backup with the girls). Really well-done on all fronts. Guitars and keys sound just fantastic. Great cover.
I watch this video all the time. So good. Just watched for the first time on my surround stereo turned up real loud. Even better. You guys are so good!!!
Ok, now you’re going back to my high school days. China Grove was a favorite amongst myself and friends. It always makes me tap my feet. Thanks for this ❤ 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Everything about this rendition of a Classic Song, is Perfection Personified, everything. Hat's off to the Audio Engineer Dave Ross, you have created a Masterpiece. Everyone in the band, every part you played/sung was absolutely on-point & sounded significantly better than The Doobie Brothers, when I saw them live, in a Double Bill Concert with Foreigner (Foreigner were incredible though!) a few years back. Keep up the great work EVERYONE!
A fantastic job yet again, grew up listening to this music it takes me back to easier times... Yet again you covered it perfectly.... Great job by Brad covering the job of two people as usual Dusty's vocals right on........ he should have got some credit for his guitar licks though... Looking forward to the 15th .... let's hope it goes ahead...
I'm blown away at the level of musicianship at display every time I watch one of your videos. How do you manage to find and get together all these incredible musicians for your projects? On a side note, I've developed a knee buckling, breath taking, heart stomping crush on Leslie. I curse the day I was born in a place and at a time that do not coincide with crossing paths with such a beautiful angel!.... I feel like like a pervert now 🤣
I love this song, and frankly wasn't expecting much. BUT I'M BLOWN AWAY! Great job of performing, "tweaking" slightly and doing honor to the original. THANK you.
Brilliant again - Dustys unreal voice, fantastic harmonies from the girls over a rocking band - I saw the Doobys do it live a couple of years ago and they were great - but you guys are right up there too.
China Grove, Texas, got its name from a grove of chinaberry trees once located near the town's train depot. Also, last week's HSCC song was by Christopher Cross. He's from San Antonio which is only 12 miles west of China Grove. The song this week is so solid & smooth, the band could put wheels on it & ride it around town.

Agreed, the audio balancing shines in every song. Hats off to consistency.
that's exactly what caught my attention. not to mention the smoking hot lady backup singers.

Phoenix, AZ.
By far the BEST cover of China Grove by ANY group !
the absolute best cover "EVER"...what a great band...The absolute best musicians....Perfect instruments and vocals.....100% awesome!!
This is literally Doobie perfection in every way - spirit, vocals, musicianship, WOW!!!
Best China Grove cover I ever heard. Lead and background vocals and especially those harmonies nailed. Guitar tone perfect!
For me it's a toss up between these guys, and Lexington Lab Band.
Totally agree with your comment 👍
Having seeing the Doobies many times I agree- very great cover!
Ate you shitting
I haven't heard this song for a long time, and I had to listen to the Doobies original after hearing this version, and I have to say that I think this version blows the original out of the water, in my opinion.
What a super rendition of an iconic rock song from America's rock band, The Doobies! Great work, guys!

Heavy medal?
It does not sound “just like the record”, the lead vocalist is lacking. He’s good on the guitar though!
@@sethtenrec That's harsh man Dusty does a good job I reckon

Great cover song !
I’ve said this on other videos - but dusty Stephensen is mind blowing. His talent is off the charts.
