Imagine being the dwarves in that situation. You get home from a long, hard, day's work in the mines; sweaty and tired. You find this random women chilling in your house and decide to offer her shelter, out of the goodness of your hearts. Then, she rewards your immense kindness by lecturing you about how dirty your house is, and forces you to clean it up, without so much as offering to help at all. Truly a heroine for the modern age. Thank god no one is going to watch this film.

my best guess is that they had actually shot everything with the diversity crew they had already hired - received the backlash and didn't want to spend to budget to shot everything again with the 7 dwarves. Instead they just cgi'd everything, which somehow seems to be cheaper????
“The cartoon was made 85 years ago.” And the story was created how many centuries before that? If you don’t want a “dated” fairy tale story, don’t use a centuries old story as the basis for your film.
Yep. How many renditions of Romeo and Juliet troupes have we seen in modern time that worked well for their setting and time? They could have done that just as well for Snow White being "updated" without going backwards and forward at the same time and crapping all over the source material.

The "Whistle While You Work" scene just shows that they learned nothing from Mulan. Such a basic change entirely undermines the intent. Snow White goes from a nice young woman willing to do her part to a spoiled princess ordering the homeowners around like her servants.

Cooking and cleaning in exchange for safe refuge was honestly the very least she could do to contribute. I never viewed it as something demeaning. The subtle changes of her making the dwarves do the cleaning, Ariel piloting the ship that kills Ursula instead of the Prince, Belle being the inventor instead of her father....these things seem like small changes but when you see them in every single movie over and over again, they don't scream empowerment, just eye rolling pandering

When Snow White decides to surprise the dwarves by cleaning for them, it's virtuous. She's a guest - she shouldn't be cleaning. And she's a princess - she definitely shouldn't be cleaning. Let alone for a group of deformed outcasts, who would be seen as cursed. And they worked in the mines, which makes them filthy. And yet she decided to clean for them anyway, cheerfully with a song. That stands in stark contrast to the remake, where Snow White bosses those idiot dwarves around. The queen has reason to envy Snow White's virtue in the original cartoon. In the remake, not so much.

No need to make Snow White a new "powerful woman". SHE ALREADY WAS! Being kind, delicate and emphatic makes you a strong person as well. And she was independent: cooking for herself, helping at home and taking care of the animals. Snow White was kind until the end and was rewarded for that. She never needed a man, indeed, but it doesn't mean she would reject help when needed just because it was a man helping. I hate how people make delicate and kind women seem as weak. Being strong is beyond just being "able to fight for yourself with no help"!

The hilarious part of "whistle while you work" is that it showed her kindness, because she was A PRINCESS willing to do cleaning. Meaning that her kindness came before her rank and position in life... don't forget princesses have servants do work for them. It showed she wasn't a totally spoiled member of royalty. You have the original story/cartoon a little wrong. SW starts the film dressed in rags and working in the palace because of the stepmother (same as Cinderella). The nice dress and cloak she wears is because she is to be assassinated and that would show the world that the PRINCESS" was dead (not the scullery maid). (In the UK in the past when the King died, the body was kept on display in full regalia because all the Lords and Barons ect. had to have seen it for themselves. How else were they meant to believe it?) SW's costume change in the film actually matters, it's shorthand to show the audience her status/rank and at the same time emphasise the point that regardless of circumstance, her true character always shines through. I thought the complaints were exaggerated until I saw the part where she makes the dwarves clean. The original scene was about responsibility and fairness. They gave her a home, and she paid her rent via maid service. A simple lesson about adulthood. The new one is about putting men in their place.

You know, I love how they made Snow White a little more unlikeable by her not offering to help to clean the house. I’m guessing Snow White in this movie sees how the Dwarves lives, calls them slobs and gets, and tells them to clean the house. The old Snow White just randomly decided to clean the home while not even knowing who the dwarves were at that point because cause it was dirty. And through that kind act, convinced the dwarves to be more tidy. Small changes can sure change a lot
The irony of this whole situation is that the original version emphasized that Snow White’s beauty came from her kindness and sweet disposition, not looks alone. The queen was consumed with jealousy because people loved her, and sent her to be executed. The hunter had compassion because of her sweet nature, so he left her in the woods to protect her. The animals showed her to the house where she befriended the dwarves and brought joy to their life. This is the story of people who have taken control of empires and are actively destroying beloved franchises because of jealousy. The story that launched an empire is the story of what has happened to Disney.

In the "Whistle while you work" scene comparision, not only do you have the complete change of of the last part (where SW tells another dwarf to broom instead of helping) but you can also sense a difference on how she even interacts with the dwarves despite having the exact same line of dialogue. In the original, you can literally hear her friendly smile while she basically instructs them to better keep the place and assigning the roles to ensure everyone working together works better than doing it all alone, like she's literally trying to help before even offering help herself. On the new one, it's almost like she's snarkily barking orders, as if they are too incompetent to see the problem for themselves and she see's them as lesser for that. You can even see it in her expressions as she says it.
The remakes of the 90's renaissance movies pissed off the Millennials, the remake of Lilo & Stitch is pissing off the Zoomers, but the Snow White remake is pissing off everyone, because even the oldest of the old grew up with that movie

You know, it's funny how Zeigler in the interviews tried to make it seem like they were changing the movie's core message to be about Snow White coming into her own as "The leader she knows she can be," when any true leader would tell you, that they don't just send people to do stuff for them that they'd rather not do themselves. A true leader gets in the dirt with everyone else, and leads by example, utilizing everyone's strengths to their true potential. This is not an example of what a leader does. The original Snow White was.

Rachel Zeiglers voice in that "Whistle While You Work" clip sounds so.... annoying. The OG Snow White sounds so innocent and sweet, she isnt bossing the animals around, she's making sure everyone had a job to do, then pitches in herself. Why does Disney think femininity and kindness aren't traits of a strong women? Not every woman has to be some boss bitch to be strong or a good character. Snow white had the queen trying to kill her, lost her home, had nothing and nowhere to go and still showed kindness through it all and tried to make the best of her situation while trying to help those who were helping her. Thats amazing and something you don't see often especially not anymore. Allow women to be feminine rather than saying the only women worth promoting are those who exhibit more traditionally masculine traits. I think there is a place for those more badass women too but that is a pace where it feels natural rather than constantly forced. The idea of dwarves offering food, shelter and protection and Snow White offering cleaning, cooking, and looking after the place shows a beautiful symbiotic relationship. We each do our parts and together we thrive. Why is this shunned in our society today???
Because it's so much easier to sit back and talk about 'my rights as an individual' when it's being interpreted as only being responsible for making yourself happy, not owing a thing to anybody, nothing is your responsibility, nobody can make you do anything you don't want to do, blah blah blah. Sure, it makes the world a worse place for everyone all around, including the ones digging their heels in to champion the cause of selfishness; but it also is the easiest thing to do in the very short term and gives them a little bit of a power trip when they get to demonstrate how other people really can't force you to be a decent person if you don't want to be one.

The fact that Snow White lets the dwarfs clean feels like a attempt to show she's a girl boss rather then a good hearted individual who she and her animals friends tided and clean the house for them, and the dwarfs later would give back the same kindness.

That's why in the 1990's people in the west called anime movies like Akira "cartoon for adults". They were not used to gore, death, and mature content in animated form. Then Ghost in the Shell and Evangelion happened and there was no going back to Disney animation unless you are a toddler. Even then toddlers are going to watch Dragonball over Disney stuff about princesses. We have no more barriers to entry anymore to watch foreign-made stuff over the woke western crap. Disney will continue losing relevance if they don't fix the MCU and Star Wars. Now nintendo is getting into animation CG movies of thier games. This means children will recognise Mario (and Sonic) more than Disney characters. They are losing relevance fast.
This is going to be so funny. Disney has effectively painted itself into a corner where it has to make this film. They will have to eat every bit of that cost. Absolutely hilarious.
A good example of how to do dwarves right is the classic wizard of oz, they posted a notice across the LA area looking for dwarves to be extras and actors for their prestige picture, and many of them were extremely excited to get out and be on the silver screen, something they thought they would never get the chance to do, much less in the biggest movie of the year, and in color too. Many of the little people who were in the making of that film felt immense pride in what they took part in, and Disney just denied 7 people the opportunity to partake in that creativity and pride.
Honestly the 7 people who could have been in the film dodged a huge bullet. Whether there are people with dwarfism or not, Rachel Ziegler ruins the film entirely.

Why did Snow White need the girl boss overhaul? She was already a badass in my mind. Her evil stepmother had her wash stone steps in rags all day, but she kept a positive attitude. Then she was almost assassinated and fled, knowing the Queen hated her enough to want her dead. She keeps her chin up and even makes the effort to bring joy to the Dwarves lives. And she’s 14 or so if I’m not mistaken? What a legend!
The side by side comparison is eerie. Rachel’s tone of voice sounds so much more demanding than the original Snow White. And assigning the dwarf the broom really tops it off.
let make a an extra point and say that Lord of the RIngs made frodo, sam, mery and pippin look tiny in front of gandalf and aragorn and weren't dwarves......that was 20+ years ago.....and what they are doing now is even more expensive.

About 6 years ago I happened to have no home anymore so my best friend welcomed me "as long as you need buddy". His home was ok but needed some serious cleaning and fixing. I was grateful so I wanted to help him out in any way possible but I also knew it can be kind of weird and rude to come to someone's place and start cleaning it. So after a week , discreetly,step by step , I started cleaning it, with all the due respect so that he wouldnt feel upset. A few months later when I left, his home was looking way better, just like I was looking better as well. I needed a big help to fix my life and he needed a small helping hand to fix his place. This is what real friends do.

He also finally got rid of this old squeaking sofa bed which I had given him something like 10 years ago and in which I quite ironically ended up spending so many nights...😅 I live in an Island 11000kms away from the original homeland and everytime I come back the first place where I crash is his.
I am Latino and I share your opinion: Rachel Zegler is a toxic person and all this Snow White remake is wrong. However, I have a simple solution: Change the name of the thing! Call it "Brown Sugar" (since I'm Latino, I considere myself entitled to make such a proposal). Hence, the evil queen might ask the magic mirror "Who is the sweetest of them all?". Well, Rachel is not exactly "sweet" but that change would open the door to a mambo versión that would suit her better. Cheers!

Let's be clear. They're not "dwarfs". Dwarfs are creatures of mythology and fantasy. They're "the bad word" that starts with m and ends in idget. The "Fairest of them all" took refuge in their home, ate their food, slept in their beds, and showed her gratitude by putting them all to work cleaning it up for her.
Snow White tasking the dwarfs with cleaning demonstrates how destructive Disney has become. In the original, Snow White cleaning for the dwarfs (who worked at the mines all day) showed she was grateful, caring, and appreciative. Her gentle femininity inspired the animals to help her. "Girl bossing" her is reductive and cheap, but there doesn't seem to be anyone left at Disney self-aware enough to realize it.
I wouldn't be surprised if it is some kind of jewish neurosis at play making her the Germanic queen and the "fairest" like some Agenda 20xx cancer for brainwashing children.
This was my first thought when I learnt about the casting. My optimistic brain was thinking they are going to make snow white such a kind and caring character that the audience will forget about physical appearance.

The direct comparisons between the animated and live-action film gives me a new-found respect for just how impressive that animated film is. Snow white was made 90 YEARS ago, hand animated and painted. It's still looks amazing and is a work of art.
That's because back then, Walt was both a visionary and a competent storyteller. Politics, grandstanding, and "highlighting the viewpoints and attitudes of the actors" weren't even on his radar as specks of dust. The goal of his projects weren't about the PERFORMANCES... it was about the production, messages of love, ethics, kindness, compassion, teamwork, sacrifice, and endurance. Instead, today's "Didnay" is *nothing* of the sort. It's all about marketing, promotion, cash grabs, manipulation, and other underhanded garbage. No envelopes are pushed, no visionaries within the company exist, and narcissists abound (obviously). 😓 In a way, it's GOOD that Walt isn't alive to see any of it. As a German, who grew up with Schneewittchen, the original form Brüder Grimm says „wer ist die Schönste im ganzen Land“ which translates to „the most beautiful woman“. German is a precise language, it is the about beauty and nothing else. There is no room for interpretation, it literally means beauty. The queen hates snowwhite because of her very beauty and young age and fears that snowwhite might replaces her in the future, as the queen gets older, and with it, less beautiful.

That cleaning scene tanks what Disney is trying to do. In the original, that scene demonstrates Snow White's gratitude and grace, as well as her willingness to take tasks on herself. This new scene just seems to demonstrate her ability to bark orders, something that literally anyone can do. So, even with their desire to characterize "fairness" as leadership, would ANYONE rather have the new Snow White as their boss? Every boss I've ever had that I liked was always willing to roll up their sleeves and help. It's the founding principle of two leadership models: Player-Coach and Servant Leadership.

It's actually very important for Snow White to work with her own hands to clean the cottage. It shows that in spite of the fact that she's a princess, she is humble and willing to do common work to serve others. It also shows courage, because the cottage is overwhelmingly dirty, but she is confident that she can see to the cleaning of it.

Yeah. That's probably my one issue with this video. There wasn't/wasn't just metaphorical beauty. Snow White literally was physically more attractive than the Evil Queen. Thank god no one is going to watch this film.

The "Whistle While You Work" scene just shows that they learned nothing from Mulan. Such a basic change entirely undermines the intent. Snow White goes from a nice young woman willing to do her part to a spoiled princess ordering the homeowners around like her servants.
I know she was bossy to the dwarfs later on but this was after they accepted her into her home.

When Snow White decides to surprise the dwarves by cleaning for them, it's virtuous. She's a guest - she shouldn't be cleaning. And she's a princess - she definitely shouldn't be cleaning. Let alone for a group of deformed outcasts, who would be seen as cursed. And they worked in the mines, which makes them filthy. And yet she decided to clean for them anyway, cheerfully with a song.
That stands in stark contrast to the remake, where Snow White bosses those idiot dwarves around.
The queen has reason to envy Snow White's virtue in the original cartoon. In the remake, not so much.

No need to make Snow White a new "powerful woman". SHE ALREADY WAS! Being kind, delicate and emphatic makes you a strong person as well. You have the original story/cartoon a little wrong. SW starts the film dressed in rags and working in the palace because of the stepmother (same as Cinderella).
The nice dress and cloak she wears is because she is to be assassinated and that would show the world that the PRINCESS" was dead (not the scullery maid).
(In the UK in the past when the King died, the body was kept on display in full regalia because all the Lords and Barons ect. had to have seen it for themselves. How else were they meant to believe it?)

I thought the complaints were exaggerated until I saw the part where she makes the dwarves clean. The original scene was about responsibility and fairness. They gave her a home, and she paid her rent via maid service. A simple lesson about adulthood. The new one is about putting men in their place.

You know, I love how they made Snow White a little more unlikeable by her not offering to help to clean the house. I’m guessing Snow White in this movie sees how the Dwarves lives, calls them slobs and gets, and tells them to clean the house.
The old Snow White just randomly decided to clean the home while not even knowing who the dwarves were at that point because cause it was dirty. And through that kind act, convinced the dwarves to be more tidy.

The animals showed her to the house where she befriended the dwarves and brought joy to their life.

Maybe he saw the script and how strong modern Snow White treats the Dwarfs like her servants, so urged that little people should not subject themselves to such garbage.
In the "Whistle while you work" scene comparision, not only do you have the complete change of of the last part (where SW tells another dwarf to broom instead of helping) but you can also sense a difference on how she even interacts with the dwarves despite having the exact same line of dialogue.
In the original, you can literally hear her friendly smile while she basically instructs them to better keep the place and assigning the roles to ensure everyone working together works better than doing it all alone, like she's literally trying to help before even offering help herself.
On the new one, it's almost like she's snarkily barking orders, as if they are too incompetent to see the problem for themselves and she see's them as lesser for that. You can even see it in her expressions as she says it.
She wasn't even singing to the Dwarfs in the original, she was singing to the animals.

You know, it's funny how Zeigler in the interviews tried to make it seem like they were changing the movie's core message to be about Snow White coming into her own as "The leader she knows she can be," when any true leader would tell you, that they don't just send people to do stuff for them that they'd rather not do themselves.

Why does Disney think femininity and kindness aren't traits of a strong women? Not every woman has to be some boss bitch to be strong or a good character. Snow white had the queen trying to kill her, lost her home, had nothing and nowhere to go and still showed kindness through it all and tried to make the best of her situation while trying to help those who were helping her. Thats amazing and something you don't see often especially not anymore. Allow women to be feminine rather than saying the only women worth promoting are those who exhibit more traditionally masculine traits. I think there is a place for those more badass women too but that is a pace where it feels natural rather than constantly forced. A good example of how to do dwarves right is the classic wizard of oz, they posted a notice across the LA area looking for dwarves to be extras and actors for their prestige picture, and many of them were extremely excited to get out and be on the silver screen, something they thought they would never get the chance to do, much less in the biggest movie of the year, and in color too. Many of the little people who were in the making of that film felt immense pride in what they took part in, and Disney just denied 7 people the opportunity to partake in that creativity and pride.
There is also the movie Willow.
Lets be real though, this is actually a good thing because in reality it saved 7 people the embarrassment of having been part of this movie.

I was grateful so I wanted to help him out in any way possible but I also knew it can be kind of weird and rude to come to someone's place and start cleaning it.
So after a week , discreetly,step by step , I started cleaning it, with all the due respect so that he wouldnt feel upset. A few months later when I left, his home was looking way better, just like I was looking better as well.
I needed a big help to fix my life and he needed a small helping hand to fix his place. This is what real friends do.

He also finally got rid of this old squeaking sofa bed which I had given him something like 10 years ago and in which I quite ironically ended up spending so many nights...😅

I am Latino and I share your opinion: Rachel Zegler is a toxic person and all this Snow White remake is wrong. However, I have a simple solution: Change the name of the thing! Call it "Brown Sugar" (since I'm Latino, I considere myself entitled to make such a proposal). Hence, the evil queen might ask the magic mirror "Who is the sweetest of them all?". Well, Rachel is not exactly "sweet" but that change would open the door to a mambo versión that would suit her better. Cheers!

Snow White tasking the dwarfs with cleaning demonstrates how destructive Disney has become. In the original, Snow White cleaning for the dwarfs (who worked at the mines all day) showed she was grateful, caring, and appreciative. Her gentle femininity inspired the animals to help her. "Girl bossing" her is reductive and cheap, but there doesn't seem to be anyone left at Disney self-aware enough to realize it.

This was my first thought when I learnt about the casting. My optimistic brain was thinking they are going to make snow white such a kind and caring character that the audience will forget about physical appearance.

The direct comparisons between the animated and live-action film gives me a new-found respect for just how impressive that animated film is. Snow white was made 90 YEARS ago, hand animated and painted. It's still looks amazing and is a work of art.

The goal of his projects weren't about the PERFORMANCES... it was about the production, messages of love, ethics, kindness, compassion, teamwork, sacrifice, and endurance. Instead, today's "Didnay" is *nothing* of the sort. It's all about marketing, promotion, cash grabs, manipulation, and other underhanded garbage. No envelopes are pushed, no visionaries within the company exist, and narcissists abound (obviously). 😓 In a way, it's GOOD that Walt isn't alive to see any of it. As a German, who grew up with Schneewittchen, the original form Brüder Grimm says „wer ist die Schönste im ganzen Land“ which translates to „the most beautiful woman“. German is a precise language, it is the about beauty and nothing else. There is no room for interpretation, it literally means beauty. The queen hates snowwhite because of her very beauty and young age and fears that snowwhite might replaces her in the future, as the queen gets older, and with it, less beautiful.

That cleaning scene tanks what Disney is trying to do. In the original, that scene demonstrates Snow White's gratitude and grace, as well as her willingness to take tasks on herself. This new scene just seems to demonstrate her ability to bark orders, something that literally anyone can do.
So, even with their desire to characterize "fairness" as leadership, would ANYONE rather have the new Snow White as their boss? Every boss I've ever had that I liked was always willing to roll up their sleeves and help. It's the founding principle of two leadership models: Player-Coach and Servant Leadership.

It's actually very important for Snow White to work with her own hands to clean the cottage. It shows that in spite of the fact that she's a princess, she is humble and willing to do common work to serve others. It also shows courage, because the cottage is overwhelmingly dirty, but she is confident that she can see to the cleaning of it.

It's becoming increasingly clear how out of touch Hollywood can be with their audience. The CGI, the story changes, and everything else seemed so unnatural. It's a shame seeing a classic becoming a victim of poor modern adaptations.

In the original German fairytale, the queen asks the mirror, „Spieglein, Spieglein an der Wand: wer ist die schönste Frau in dem ganzen Land?“ which literally translates to: "Little mirror, little mirror on the wall, who's the most beautiful woman in the whole country?"
Yeah. That's probably my one issue with this video. There wasn't/wasn't just metaphorical beauty. Snow White literally was physically more attractive than the Evil Queen.

Disney will never let this remake die, no matter how much it costs them in finances and reputation. This company has dedicated itself to standing against everything Walt himself ever believed in. There is no movie that more plainly encapsulates the essence of Walt Disney than the original _Snow White,_ so it MUST be replaced.
