The way you explained this, makes this process easy!! Thanks !!
Thank You I am glad it helped.
He forgot to mention that the driver handle with the lock doesn't go back on so easily. The metal latch refused to stay out after pulling it and loosening the screw. Had to use a piece of string to pull it out while sliding door handle back in. It was real fun. Why they had to change this mechanism, I'll never know. But it was definitely better before.
Very f*ckin stupid design change
Best video for this procedure! Thanks
This is the same with Metris and Sprinter handles. its a great mechanism, but if you dont know the tricks beforehand it can really put you in a tricky spot lol !!
Thanks guys I’m about to start my first wrap this weekend and this was very helpful!
Thank you saved me some time to put together. I struggle with the driver side it’s was totally different
Good Video... client came to get something out of his truck and shut the driver door after I had removed the handels. He paid an extra $200 for that error.
Color change on a 2024 AT4X. As a precaution I slip a shp rag into the Door Jam lock loop. But resetting the Screw is better for Commercial wraps and lay outs 🙌
Thankyou so much I've been stuck on this handle for hours trying to reinstall it the hook and pull is what in needed ty!
Necesito reinstalar una, no puedo dar el
Jalón, siento que esta duro
This video saved my life
Thanks! Exactly what I needed
Thanks for video, Super helpful - helped me solve my issue!
So, if you leave the door open while the handle is being replaced, is there a need to use the hook? Can the handle be reinstalled without needing to use the hook?
Stuck at work your video very help finish up my work
Glad we could help
I couldn’t get mine to lock back
When loosening. Directly on the back side of that metal mechanism is a hole on the inside. I used a flathead screwdriver to push it from the inside.
Thank you from Outlaw Kustomz! We just ran into this. 😄
Great video! All except the part where you said to tighten the torex (however you spell it) back down. Soon as I did that, it screwed me out of two hours of my life. There is no need for this step Or your part 2 video where you unbolt the handle mechanism and move it around hoping nothing falls loose into the door interior. The flat metal plate inside is mainly what the handle pulls to release door. Use your handy hook, or piece of wire that you jimmy around it like I had to, to release the door. Ta da.
Stepping off soap box.
Like I said, was well thought out video, except that part. Keep an eye on your mailbox for my invoice. Kidding!…maybe…
Actually once you have the handle out if you just leave the nut alone the door won't latch closed seeing it holds the mechanism open
Thank you for the tutorial!
Definitely a life saver man thanks!!
also works for the 2021 Chevy Silverados
The torque nut that you loosen, my truck is missing that nut. What size is that torque nut 2022 Silverado
How did you guys open the door???
Customer closed the driver door after he got something out. And the handels had already been removed. I had to Remove the rear door to access the set screw in the driver door. That's how I got it open. If you found an easier way please share. 👍🏼
Thanks .. just saved me big time!
Hell yeah great video and thorough
Thanks guys!!!
Thanks for this video!! Too bad my guys didn’t see it before they pulled the door handles then shut the doors! Lol
were you able to get them open again?
Did you ever get them open and how........😣Yea cause I just did that lol
@@pgarcia128 Did you get the door open? I just did that too.
@@tigger1823 yes sure did shortly after I typed that lol. I found a flexible driver with the right size allen even though it's a star bit. You really got to lose that bolt on other side and push over and down as far as you can to get the right angle.
@@pgarcia128 thanks for the reply. I got it too luckily. You're right, the angle was key.
you happen to have a video on the window sweep removal
THANK YOU!💪🏽🙌🏽
Thank you!
Sooo how can you open it again after you close it
part 2 will show you how - ua-cam.com/video/Snsf_qz-uYI/v-deo.html
I followed your directions. As i went to put the handle back and and tighten the screw, the screw just kept spinning. Its not cross threaded. You know why this is happening
no idea, are you sure you didnt strip the threads as its only going into plastic?
Did you figure it out? I have the same issue
Same issue here on the passenger rear. Anyone know of a fix?
Anyone got the fix???
It is possible to open the door without the handle, just need something to reach in there and grab that latch. I used a key lanyard. I mistakenly closed all the doors and windows so I had to figure it out the hard way. 🤦🏽♀️
Will that same process work on 2018 Silverado? As far when losing the screw and holding the door mechanisms in place to reinstall the handle without having to take the interior door panel off.
How did you guys end up opening it ? I Js did the mistake you said not to do lol
I need to know this too
@@mgrote9 So here is the “fix” if you did end up shutting the door. (At least this is what worked for us)
If you look at the 1:30 mark in the video you will see there is a screw on the right side where the door handle slides into. Remove that screw. By removing that screw you will loosen the door handle bracket behind the door, that I talk about at the 1:50 mark. Use your fingers or a screwdriver to move that bracket as far right as you can so you can get access to the Torx nut you first removed to take the handle out, You will access this nut from the large opening that is at the 1:50 mark. It may take some work to get access to that nut but once you do tighten it back up, re attach that bracket and you should be able to open the door from the inside.
Hope this helps, and if we get another 2020 Silverado in the shop where we have to take off the handles I will make a video showing the fix.
I am wrapping a 2020 Silverado z71 and my door cards are still on and my co worker shut the door now I can’t open it what can I do
Did you see our other video?
What size was the torque fitting, couldn't make out what he said?
thank you for the video it was a major help and by the way 2024 has the same bullshit design ha ask me how i know
how far back did you pull the mechanisim? Im trying put the door handle back on, but i cant get the mechanisim to lock forward.
Were you able to figure it out? I’m stuck in the same boat right now.
Me to im in the same boat today. The screw that locks the handle in just keeps spinning. Any ideas guys
@@danysemaan9529 i have the same issue now. Any help?
@@danysemaan9529 hello, how did you resolve
Awesome, thanks crack
This work on 2023s?
The screw keeps spinning when I’m trying to put the handle back on and the metal peice won’t lock
sounds like you either cross threaded or either its stripped
What did you do to open the door?
Part 2 of the video has the fix for this, well atleast what worked for us your milage may vary - ua-cam.com/video/Snsf_qz-uYI/v-deo.html
Thank you so much! Great video!
This the same for 2024?
I am not sure I havent done a 2024 truck yet where I needed to remove the handle
What a stupid design
