Thank you for the “If you don’t tighten before closing, you won’t be able to open it”. Been looking for a simple video to tell me if I tighten it or don’t before closing. Been an hour
Life saver my friend been doing this for 10 years and today is the first time for some reason one door shut and latched closed all other 3 stayed normal for the entire wrap but front passenger locked on me just found your video did exactly that took about half an hour and got it back to normal thanks man appreciate it. This just happened an hour ago 😁
Thanks man. What a pain. I did it to both driver side doors. Got the back door open then just took the door off to access the front door. Dumb lesson learned!
there is only 2 nuts, the 1st one is the nut that you first loosened to take the door handle off and the 2nd is the one you take off to get the bracket to move so you can take your torx driver and find that fist nut through the door handle holes
This doesn't work if you have the smart locks, handle with an electrical cable. You can't move the mechanism far enough ahead to get the tool in. If you were unlucky enough to get it locked shut like this with the door panels on and you can't unplug the handle to remove it, you need a flex extension for the screwdriver that will allow the extension to bend like a U and get around to the back. Absolute nightmare, terrible design
Thanks for the addition to the tips, we haven't had this happen with ones with the smart lock. You are correct that its a terrible design not sure what GM was thinking when they came up with this.
@@BrandonAnderson so we did manage to solve it last night with the electrical cable. Similarity to you with the exception of using a 1/4” drive ratchet with a t25 to create a 90 degree bend to sneak it in behind the mechanism from the handle lock hole since we couldn’t push it forward as much as yours. Very very tight a was nearly considering cutting the wires and soldering them back when opened, but we just barely managed

Thanks for the video my coworker did this mistake but thanks to this video I fixed the problem 😊

Thank you so much! You have saved many collision technicians ass’
This video saved us! Thank you for your help!
Good work. This happens last night
Life saver. We were ready to take the rear door off to get access to the hole!
You're the man boss thanks
What if the driver door closes and you can't get to that nut because of the lock being bigger
That nut should be accesiable regardless of the door lock.
Awwww man thank u

How far forward do you have to slide it. I can't get the angle to tighten it
Same my fingers are fucked rn
It just happened to me... thanks
It happened to me on a crew cab pickup. I just removed rear door and had someone hold it while I tightened the front door torx.
My LT has the smart lock buttons on all four of the door handles, how does this change the removal process?
I have no idea but I would assume there would be some wired connection that would need to be unpluged
Lol, i work in the factory that makes that intern mechanism, that machine is such a pain
My hands will now have permanent scares, this video was a life saver tho
I am having a heck of a time getting that bottom window trim off. Any suggestions?
What can I do if the mechanism drops
This video saved my ass, thanks man! Greatly appreciate it.
What nut am I looking for?

Shit I can’t get it I’ve been stuck for a hour. Moved it forward but it won’t angle to put the t20 screw driver in
All I did was open it from the inside.
