081 of 108 Names of Lord Shiva : Ahirbudhnyaha - Who is Adi Shesha

Ahirbudhnyah: Of the form of Ᾱdi-Śeṣa. The word ahi means a serpent; here it is Ᾱdi-Śeṣa. The word budhna means base; here it means the base (bottom) of the Cosmic Egg (brahmāṇḍa), the pātāla. As Ᾱdi-Śeṣa, Śiva supports (pervades and envelopes) the whole Cosmic Egg. The Viṣṇu-Purāṇa says, ‘Rudra, in the form of Saṅkarṣaṇa, bears the three worlds.’ Saṅkarṣaṇa, in the form of Śeṣa, is no other than Rudra. In this name, the two words ahiḥ and budhnya together make one name.
