    Amazing video, as always. I follow Master Wong since he posted his first video, and i would really love to train with him even for 1 day. I'd love to train even woth his students, that also look pretty prepared!
    Where is this gym? I'm from Italy and i'm really thinking of coming for a week if its not too far away. I practice Kali, and Master Wong System would really complete my Martial Journey.

    Master Wong. Is there a "rule" for what leg to move first when pushing your opponent? The leading leg or the one furthest away... This affects balance and I do not want to develop a bad form when I could be saving my energy to defend myself.

    • @masterwong101
      @masterwong101  9 років тому +1

      leading leg, but you'll need your back leg to support it. by pushing of with the back leg too.

    • @masterwong101
      @masterwong101  9 років тому +3

      Thats right. No one said it was easy. You have to understand that training for real life and training in a class environment is not the same. So the mind set has to change to be able to make it effective.

    • @Averagebum21
      @Averagebum21 9 років тому +5

      The wrong approach would be to try to do techniques in a real fight. The right approach would be to learn all techniques, and in a real fight, in very specific situations, use whatever technique is useful for THAT situation.
      Please let me explain. Suppose we learn a technique where we need to grab our opponent's wrist and lead him in a certain direction. If we try to grab our opponent's wrist in a real fight, we will fail most of the time and get our asses kicked.
      BUT, there will be situations where we somehow managed to grab our opponent's wrist without trying to, and in those situations, we can apply appropriate wrist grab techniques. We don't try to do them. We use whatever presents itself.
      What about the other situations where our opponent's wrist doesn't present itself? That's where the other 99 techniques we have learned come into play. We never look to try to perform any of the 100 techniques, but if we master them, in the correct situation, at the correct distance, angle, speed, and timing, one of the techniques will work.
      It works the same with all martial arts. Critics look at Aikido and say how can you possibly perform a Four-Directional Throw in a real fight? We can't if we're looking to perform it. BUT, there will be some situations where the opportunity presents itself, and when it does, it would be useful to know what to do in those situations. We cannot try to perform specific techniques or moves, but we can learn them for specific situations.
      This may seem like a tangent to most of us, but it's like the difference between a good magician and an average one. The former will perform effects that fit in the current situation and make them look fantastic. The latter will try to perform a handful of tricks in inappropriate situations because they are trying to perform the effects, and not trying to make the current situation entertaining.
      I hope that helps.

      This is actually a very good question, i would also love to see Master wong talk more about stances in wing chun, right hand first or left hand first, which do you use and why and for what situation? for example if you were to face a boxer fighting southpaw do you adjust your defense?

    • @masterwong101
      @masterwong101  9 років тому +1

      same techniques can be used on both sides. Just depend on your own co-ordination. Tai Chi is harder to use but can be very effective.

      PugmanPlays The answered will be discovered on our wing chun training course. • @jadeqilin
      @jadeqilin 9 років тому +1

      aqualinknun unfortunately, its not true. Tai Chi and Qi Gong are closely related. Tai Chi , as said above, is about awareness of your opponent's flow, momentum and balance, not like the video showed above. Qi Gong, being the major way of practicing and cultivating internal Qi, it serves Tai Chi in the way of developing and acquiring the utility of your own Qi energy internally. It is the fundamental in Tai Chi push hand and sparring.

    MW-- thanks for all your enlightening videos.
    Here is a basic question: In your videos you frequently make use of the expression, "the line."
    Could you make video that shows what you mean by 'the line; in different contexts?
    Is "the line" a simple thing or a complicated thing?
    Thanks so much.

    • @masterwong101
      @masterwong101  9 років тому

      it depends on what martial art you do. It's slightly difficult to explain, You would get a better idea from our training course as it will give you more idea on what it is about. It could mean the line of attack, in line for the next movement etc.

    • @aquaboy2022
      @aquaboy2022 9 років тому

      Good suggestion. I would also like to see a video explaining the importance of dominating or controlling the centreline in offence and defence, whether Wing Chun or Taichi or fighting in general.

    • @masterwong101
      @masterwong101  9 років тому +1

      aqualinknun It's not a straight forward to answer. There are to many variables. Your need is different to other peoples need. The best thing is to do our training course as the course can cater for individuals need. Thats why people do our course as it can meet their needs. That's an absurd comment, learn a form. Everything is in the Laojia Yilu. You don't develop taiji skill in push hands, it's just a way to show you whether you are adhering to the principles correctly and those are all developed through regular form practice.

    • @indefenceofthetraditionalma
      @indefenceofthetraditionalma 3 роки тому

      @@AlanosaurusRex your comment seems absurd to me. Form is only one aspect of tai chi chaun and has little to do with combat. If you are training to fight then forms training should be the smallest part of your training

    For those critics who are saying styles like wing chun or tai chi is ineffective let met tell you this
    Are you fucking crazy and stupid?!
    How can a style involving a punch be ineffective?! I'm so dissapointed in this generation of people who think a certain style be anyway ineffective in a real fight which is stupid,
    For those critics out there let's take wing chun for example
    Why do you say wing chun is ineffective? Is it because of the system itself or is it because of how badly the practicioner performs making you stupid enough to conclude it ineffective?
    Wing chun is neither effective or ineffective it's just a neutral system it is the practicioner that makes it effective or ineffective
    When you go out there in a street fight does wing chun help you? No! You use wing chun tools to help you
    I wouldn't be so surprised if grandmaster ip man was given a chance to live again to see what's happening to the WC practicioners, I won't be very surprised if ip man double facepalms and begs to die again
    And for those stupid enough to say stuff like "dude just get over it when you keep failing no matter how much tools you use, you gotta know there's something wrong with the system and you gotta question the system"
    My response: question the system?! How do I fucking question the system?! So you're telling me that I should use the telephone and call the system and say "hello wing chun system I almost died why do you suck?" Yeah fuck that, it's not the system that sucks shit, it's you that sucks shit
    Remember there is no good or bad kung fu only good or bad practicioner
    And also know your enemy know....YOUR FUCKING SELF!!!!
    No offense but even a person with half a brain would know that practicioners are the ones responsible for the system not the system itself
