She lacks everything except a billion dollars, which is how she got the job.

The problem with that question was that it conflates Betsy Devos's religious beliefs about homosexuality ...So she tried her utmost not to answer the question definitively....But I have to commend the congresswoman's persistence and resilience in getting an answer about discriminatory practices in any school setting...
It doesn’t necessarily conflate her personal beliefs with the law - the question was about the law, not her beliefs. She was being deliberately obtuse.

@Jude Fenwick She is known to be deeply religious and shamelessly dishonest. Unfortunately at the rightmost edge of the Christian conservative movement these often come together. I am always pleased to see other Christians stand up to people like her.
your beliefs should not get in the way if you are in the public service. If it was going to be an issue then she should have just stayed home. Answering questions to a committee is part of that office btw.

This congresswoman seems to be the ONLY one in the room who kept demanding a direct answer. For these folks needing to write laws, they sure don't seem to get court tactics: Hostile witness? Rephrase the question, over and over, until you get an answer. And she did so. Good job Congresswoman Clark!

If no one else challenges Trump in 2020 I think I must. One of my key differences is I care about the quality of the cabinet so for each area I would seek experts in the field. My secretary of state would be a political scientist, my education secretary would be an education administration expert, my treasury secretary would be a economist, my HUD would be a civil engineer or civil services management expert. I personally think to be effective both requires ideals and expertise. My smaller area of difference is my view of criticism. I don't care if people don't like me but I do care if they are being led by bad information.

I retired after 40 years of teaching and training teachers. In my home state of Wahington, kindergarten teachers are required to know vastly more than Betsy DeVos knows. Now, two years later we have watched her dismantle our educational system and Elizabeth Warren caught her right from the start.
