Love it..I'll have one this week.2 ton air lift.2 ton winch on top and a trailer hitch so I can toe it with my mower..cheeper than a bad back.less painfull,a must have for any handyman shop.
I use mine all over the property for random stuff. Was just thinking some bigger tires would make all the difference and this pops up. Thanks for proving the concept!
I bought the 1 ton lift from Harbor Freight and used it for the restore of my vintage honda motorcycle. It was great. Folds up nicely to store in a small area. Got a great deal on it during a parking lot sale.
For moving engines I suggest you lift it higher and then lower some of the engine weight on to a pallet or a plank laying across the legs, that would make for a steadier move.
I was debating whether to do this or put lift on some type of skids ( in a few minutes I'll be getting an engine stand so we'll see how that goes ) but someone told me to lay plywood down , I'll probably try the plywood when i go to put engine back in ; used another vehicle to yank engine out . Didn't move engine far , it's tuff moving an engine around in sand .
@@homesteadprepper I'm jealous but maybe in the future I'll put all-terrain wheels on ; I guess it is true that you have to do things the hard way before you smarten up , I guess I'm no different from the rest , lol . Thanks for showing us how it's done !
thats a grat thing you came up with i just barow my frinds engine hoist and we had a hell of a timew loading it on my trailer with a drop down gate with those little ass caster meatle wheels and dont get me started about ,moveing it around on the road or concreat . why they dont have biger wheels in staed of small ones you got me . now that even solve draging and moveing a 4x8 pieace ply wood .
@@GabeHtx the same as your video. I kept the steel casters so I can take off the pneumatic tire for heavier jobs on concrete. However I'll probably purchase another hoist for concrete & keep the pneumatic tire modified hoist for dirt/grass situations.
i did this but i put 6 inch tube tire towards the back right before the last bar. and 4 inch wheels that swivle on the front . and when i had a engine with a trans on it to put in my truck the wright on the front tires made it hard to push or turn . . ps these wheel and tires came off a hover round wheel chair . so im thinking about going with 6inch swivles on the front . but all in all i still like it it made it a hell better to move arond when i needed to load it on my trailer .
i left my meatle caster wheels on the engine hoist because they was welded to the tube and just pull the tube out and turn it over so if i neede the small wheel again . they be there ...
A friend of mine had got into a fight on the road and got knocked out. His friend who knocked him out ran up the road a mile to my place and woke me up at 2:30 AM. We went down with my pickup truck and picked him off of the road so no one would run him over. We took him to his home and carried him to his sofa. Sure could have used a crane for that job. He was heavy.
Ya, but you cant use it as it was intended for. Pulling motors. With those big wheels you cant get it underneath lower cars. A truck, you might could idk. On my truck you for sure could. I got a 6"lift sittin on 40's but not very practical for pulling motors
ya but i have seen some done like this but they still havew the reglar weels left in place . my friund loan me his and im going to see if he let me convert his over to biger wheels or tires . we try to move the other day and load it on my trailer with a drop gat what a bitch it was to roll . the onley thing his caster or welded to the engine lift . . and it might be better to go with 5 inch or 4inch . that way it be lower to the grond .
Nice Upgrade. I have to look at something similar for my Honda generator, to make it easier to move around. BTW, do you still have your Lift?? Curious if you ever got it wired and working correctly.
Thanks. Yes I still have the lift. I have had some more pressing issues here lately but, I assure you that when I do some more repairs to it, I will post them.
here a ? why didnt you put non swivles tires on the front and swivles on the back thats way it dont turn on you when your pushing it forwards . and can i use 8 inch tires . but i love the grease fittings ones too . and there not hard wheels that dig in the grass . or sand . keerp[ up the good work . a job well done .
Certainly was not expecting the "people lift" tangent this took. 6 minutes + to get to "on a serious note" ? Sound idea, good project, but that wasn't a thumbs up worthy video

When the bolts were hitting the wheels could simply turn them around also so nut is on top 😁. Nice easy design will copy this idea thanks for posting.

Nice I have a big block sitting on grass I gotta move it looking for quick and easy way that's awesome heading to harbor freight now
I have that exact same hoist. It is a workhorse. Somebody before me put other wheels on it, but I like the idea of those bigger ones.
keep swinging on it like that, very good for the metal to introduce non-static loads. swing on it as much as you can!
You are a great guy there ain't that many people looking out for minatee elderly keep up the work good idea
Wow first time i think I have seen you in a video. Thanks for sharing.
Well, I guess that you also saw that I won't be winning any beauty prizes either! lol
@@homesteadprepper neither will I lol
So entertaining, my wife said that she would leave me there for maybe a week just to make sure that I was dead lol
LOL!
The best one yet

I have had to use plywood for a makeshift floor to move the lift around do an engine swap before but, not any more though, lol.

Nice idea, I believe I'll do the same to mine tomorrow
Did the same to mine, but slightly different so I can replace the original casters, use on concrete & also roll under a vehicle.
@@ranger175a2whow’d you do it if you don’t mind me asking

I bet Joe Swanson from Family Guy would use that just to walk. Lol
What would Quagmire do with it?
What outer diameter size is that black square tubing that slides into the front of lift?
Good thing you had that harness on. lol 😂😂
Really useful video.¡Gracias por compartir!

Ha ha ! Before I had my hips and knees replaced I had thought about using a gantry lift to help me get down and up from vehicles .

ive also seen some one use ubolts instead of nuts and bolts .

I can raise a car up high enought to do what I need to do or I can always put the smaller wheels back on too. I have options.

What are the dimensions of the cut steel plates

I need one of these to swap engine out with out it being in the shop
What kind of jack did you put on there! That automatic function is sweet
It makes it easier and a lot faster too for sure.

WHY DIODINT YOU PUT THE BOLTS UP FROM THE BOTTOM
that would of been smarter and with lock nuts .

Because the legs of a crane are not parallel to each other. It would be like trying to push a car with a real bad 'toe-out' problem.
How is this holding up? Reviews on harbor freight website say these wheels fail often before 300lb
2 of the tires usually need to be aired up before use. Other than that the lift is working fine.
@@homesteadprepper Thanks for the reply. This is a great idea 👍
two people hurt their backs trying to lift her....i tried not to laugh but i couldnt help it
I can see that being very useful.
Thanks. It has saved me a lot of frustration moving stuff around the yard already!
That's a wonderful idea!!
Now just walk around with it towed behind you. No more falling and not getting up.
We have used one to dress a deer also.
What size bolts did you use
3/8x4 inch.
@@homesteadprepper what grade were the bolts?
Thought you started taking fire at 3:09 😄
Lol!
None steering wheels on the front are stronger.
Yeah but will it brake eve toe you have if you run you've
'you're foot over
maybe not . because it roll thats the thing he was looking for .
Funny story 😂

You should start making your own thumbs up worthy videos. And thanks for watching.
What grade bolts and thickness of plate are you using?
I used 3/16 steel plate. The bolts are just the plain Home Depot/Lowes kind.
