4:40 This was the moment that made Magneto truly terrifying to me. I recently read this issue and he was messing her UP with that paper clip. So painful to see. He was slowly digging the paper clip into her starting from her wrist, all the way up her arm, eventually making it's way to her brain when he was done with her. Brutal stuff.
Ewing’s mad respect for and loving depictions of Jewish and Black characters is honestly so refreshing and so real, all the more remarkable because he is neither. I love him so much.
Charles didn’t know he was sacrificing mutants when he told them to go thru the gates, he was just trying to save innocent lives. That was why he snapped after he was told that he sent them to their deaths
@@BlazinTreTechnically by now he knows and it's not some big moment of change for him necessarily. He was already pulled from wallowing in self-pity by the last trace of Mr. Sinister, and if you're following 'Rise of the Powers of X', issue 2 shows that he would now be aware of the mutants in the White Hot Room since he's working with Rachel who used the Five to resurrect and send her team of X-Men from the Gala slaughter to find pre-cyborg Moira.
@@bajansamurai he is one of the most powerful psychics. Pls, he chose, that's what matters the most bcz of his personality. In many ways, he would do anything to be seen as a good person.
Lol. There esentially is. Supposedly Hickman had a whole set of threads plotted out for Krakoa to start, develop and end on, which the additional (and replacement writers) can incorporate as they go. Especially with extending it beyond its initial intended run, it's wild that there are still things to call back to, but this does feel like Magneto's death and rebirth was a thread plotted from the jump (with or without the A.X.E. event)
What if Shadow King is an old enemy of Ashake. And he has Vendetta against her bloodline, hence him seeking our Storm as a child. Or if the entity itself is an ancestor of hers with magic roots as well as its psionic roots. We've seen this place bring Ashake to her instinctively
I could see that. It would tie together using Storm, encountering Ashake in the first place, and ending up facing off with the Shadow King. It's funny you bring that up too, because I was recently thinking Shadow King would make a great Storm-centered story to tie an early experience with her, it and Professor X together in the MCU, and explain how mutants disappeared from the MCU in the first place over centuries, in part because of him, therefore are so few (Namor, Kamala, Mr. Immortal).
@afro_princess1671 What does coming into existence at the start of humanity have to do with having an ancient enemy of Storm's ancestor or potentially being Storm's ancestor? Shadow King has been possessing human hosts for thousands of years... Cosmic entities make or have entire bloodlines in marvel comics if they choose to
Third Eye foresaw the baby boom as detrimental and raised concerns that dropped the mutant reproduction by a quarter. His future sight saw too many children, and the lack of proper care for all of them. His actions through discussions interfered as other mutants felt they should hold off on having kids.
I don't recall that happening but you could definitely be right. Was that in an unlimited comic instead of a publication? I was thinking the 1 over his head represented a death he caused (in this case, terminating a pregnancy or something), but now I think about it it may apply to the law he "broke" by doing what he said. I didn't know he had precognition in his abilities.
At some point, he judged that mutant reproduction was relatively reckless and foresaw that many mutant children would be deprived of proper care. As such, he shared a discourse among the Krakoan population about pregnancy prevention. The nation's birthrate dropped by a quarter due to his actions. Since one of the laws of Krakoa incentivized mutant reproduction,[2] Third Eye was sentenced and convicted to the Pit of Exile by the Quiet Council.[3]
@@mauricefloyd1483 We got that from your original post, but do you remember what issue or at least series it occurred in? Reading what you wrote again clarifies that it was him using a common sense prediction and not precognition powers though. Thanks!
@@hellblaze10 I'm going to reread Exiles and see if I just glossed over it or something though. I know they delved a bit more into each of their offenses in that series, but some things happened in Unlimited series that I don't generally read, so I was hoping to narrow my focus.
Even I had forgotten about the Namor thing. I legit thought: "Ok, they set up this secret past adventure that conveniently gives Magneto some key out of the afterlife." Then I went digging through earlier issues of HoX/PoX and looking up this adventure online and was reminded it happened (and that I read AND completely forgot about it 4 years ago). Glad to see them calling back to things they set up earlier. Figure they can't get them all, but so far they're doing good with what they have retreaded.
Is storm more powerful than magneto at this point? I always wondered if the shadow king would one day battle magneto. I remember in the old comics magneto somehow was able to protect himself into the astral plain. Can’t wait to see the next one. Also can anyone tell me when the Joseph series is going to come out?
Storm had the chance to kill Magneto long ago but relented and the last time they fought Storm overloaded Mags and he had to be revived by Nate. Current Storm has grown even more powerful having harmed King Thor, Dominions and The Demon Lord Adversary... she's a literal Goddess now.
I just finished reading this issue and absolutely loved it. Magneto is one of my favorite characters in comics and this issue to me was absolutely incredible 👍🏾👌🏾
There is a difference between one person not wanting to have a child, and having a 25% drop in birthrate because you saw the future and voiced your concerns on how people were going about dealing with their children.
First, the kill no man rule meant flat out murder not self defense situations. Second, When Magneto told Storm to "watch Xavier, it was not for nefarious reasons and if so it was unwarranted. Again, Magneto was wrong. Third and lastly: Xavier pushed the mutants out because he felt he had no choice and did what a hero is supposed to do. Xavier had no idea that the gates were sabotaged. Xavier has been the quintessential hero throughout the entirety of the X-men as as whole. Flat out.
If I remember rightly they do edit the law to consider self-defense at some point, but initially I think it was all human death. Oya and Nekra killed two pirates who were attacking Krakoa, essentially vigilante justice. Nekra points out that this isn't any different to what X-Force was sanctioned to do, and in fact, there are even other characters on Krakoa who also killed and managed to keep it hush hush. LaValle intentionally included scenarios which might be more debatable to audiences, because he's making a point about who is allowed to get away with doing what.
‘Xavier had no idea that gates were sabotaged,’ is true, but WHY would you trust an organization dedicated to the extermination of your entire race? I’d have been surprised if they HADN’T been sabotaged.
We need DrStorm so bad lol then we'll have ShadowMagneto, there needs to be new powerful universal threat heroes out there fighting for the good, and omegawise not many have as much endless potential as Storm and Magneto Particularly Storm tbh, even DrStrange would fear training her, just with storm posseing one of DrStrange relics is probably enough to turn Storms power a new leaf, more ecitmemnt please 🙏

I agree bro
I’m not the only one who noticed that? I thought he WAS black for a time.
Had nothing to do with Jews though. Magneto's character is more than Jews. That's his past. He is about mutant and freedom.
