I love wiz, and did start playing it for nostalgic purposes with one of my best friends. However, our other friend feels left out because although she joined us in playing it, she has bills to pay and doesn't want to commit to a membership if she doesnt like it further on. Wizard City, including the underwater area, and collosus bollevard all need to be free. I understand maybe not the first arc, but the first WORLD at least. They'd get a lot more people invested in it.

Before I watch the video, I just want to say that even though the game has so many problems and is definitely carried by nostalgia in a lot of ways, there's actually so many redeeming qualities about it that I wish KI played into those more. And for the love of Christ, make the first arc FREE already.
I feel you. Arc One of Wizard101 (Wizard City to Dragonspyre) needs to be free because at this point, we already have plenty of other worlds to keep you busy if you buy into a membership. Honestly, the main reason I want to see Arc One being free to play is because when you're questing in areas like Wizard City, Krokotopia, Mooshu, etc, you aren't really told too much about the main "plot" of the game, which is Malistaire and why he's important. Don't get me wrong, you're told a little bit of lore and backstory about Malistaire and what his motives are, but it's not enough and you're told everything you need to know about Malistaire's backstory when you hit Dragonspyre. By the time an average player has finished Dragonspyre, they should have enough knowledge to know if they want to buy into a membership or not based on the story they've played through, the new spells they've gotten, and how much they've progressed through the game. Also defeating Dragonspyre Malistaire for the first time is definitely appealing to a new player who has never battled him before, all the more reason why a new player would in turn be more invested into a membership if Arc One were to be free.
Glad you are still around. I always type in wizard101 here and then to see how the game is doing. I personally stopped playing since covid hit where most people were at home to try the game for a little while but originally I had quit way before that. I respect everyone's point of view when it comes to any game. I will say the game has not quite developed as much as I would hope for how long its been running for. Almost every update that comes out despite it being a step to the right direction wizard101 continues and probably will continue to just fall behind. Guilds and raids now for example are something relatively new, I am surprised how they went about with raids and I believe its not a good system to encourage people to event participate. Usually people just unlock it through a quest and just form groups or join a form of queue. The game still runs on a very old engine and with that alone has limitations on what they can and can't do. So that alone is very difficult for the game to ever "peak" or compete with any other games specially new ones that release on Unreal engine 5 or above or any form of better performing engine that has better graphics and more character customization. WIzard101 lacks cosmetics as well as actual endgame content. There is a lack of content for people who are not interested in pvp, and that alone has been a huge issue and playerbase has declined due to it. The lack of rewards, free mounts or in general any form of achievement and worthwhile titles does not exist. The game has no world content like other MMOs where you can kill a world boss for loot and you have well over 60+ people killing it to loot it. The area restriction for newcomers are yet to get a revamp since 2 hours is not enough and wizard city was the only one who received a graphic update. These issues have been around since release and this gives little to no hope for the 85% that have quit the game. Yes, wizard101 has lost 85% of their playerbase since it was launched. Peaked 2009-2011 and declined since. Realms use to have up to 25 areas or instances meaning despite having 1 realm they were actually 25 of the same one per realm. This was changed in due time due to losing players and having no reason to stretch realms. This is just the tip of the iceberg and truthfully wizard101 has a better chance making a new version of the game with a new engine and start it from scratch than fixing the current gig.
Genuinely the community is the best part of this game even though there are a few bad apples the community when you team up, or just find someone on the same quest as you, those interactions just feel so good.
Best secret(?) about that Ignore button: they can't get into the same Team Up queue as you, so blocking toxic players you encounter during boss farming will make the Team Up farming experience far better.
I still remember when I first started playing Wiz in 5th grade, my friend was talking about how he couldn't find the Smiths in Wizard City so I made an account to help him out lmao. Now 10 years later I still play the game on and off on occassion. I just recently got back into it because of the free membership thing. Truly amazing that the game has stood the test of time all these years when so many others haven't.

I truly enjoyed this game to a point I was actually addicted to it, my interest just faded when they took forever to add worlds to quest and bosses to farm. I remember the days of farming hades,Zeus & Poseidon. That was fun

It's a great game. But the choices that this company makes is just something else. The game should be dead (Sauce mentions it's a miracle), and I stopped playing due to the paywalls and pay2win aspect and also the commitment level required to be able to do anything pvp related. However, I regularly watch and support multiple content creators because they are what drive this game to me and they should be supported a lot more.

And 2, novus is REALLY disrespectful to pirate101 We all know about asset replacements, but the fact they decided to NOT use an armada soldier as the scout is just plain stupid, as the armada's designs are valencian automata/golems, so not using those design makes no sense, as VALENCIAN AUTOMATA EXISTED BEFORE THE ARMADA, SO STILL USING THOSE DESIGNS WOULD NOT BE AS STRANGE AS PUTTING A DAMN MARLEYBONIAN VALET. I agree here at 6:40 remember when the old wiz graphics were here? We all thought, (at least I did) that the graphics would never change. The voice acting has gotten so much better over the years, as well as polishing old worlds. I really hope this game stays with us for a very long time. Something unique I found when questing on my lower level the other day. They introduced a new NPC in firecat alley (the crazy firecat alley) Her voice seemed very familiar and I looked it up. Jessica Calvello is voiced by her who also voices Hange from Attack on Titan?? I was stumped when I found that out! The fact they can bring in voice actors who have a lot of impact from other shows/movies is saying something.
I play wiz cause it is unique in a world full of carbon copy. Its not only 1 of a kind it fun af. I think allot of the changes they have made have made sense. Personally me and my friend have talked about wizards getting to 160 like 10 years ago, And it makes me so happy to see it still here to day and better then ever. While I cant get back tower parties and preage house pvp I look forward to the future of wiz.
I just reached Avalon on my Fire. I am currently level 55 on Myth, Life, and Storm, and as of the time of writing this, I am level 54 on Balance and Ice. If you’re wondering about Death, that’s who I completed Novus with, and I’m still in progress with everyone else. Not sure if I’ll reach Azteca and beat Celestia and Wintertusk as everyone else, but it’s gonna be one heckuva ride.
I have like 4 friends I’ve gotten to know irl through this game. We all live really far from each other but it’s cool we get to have each others socials if we ever wanna get in touch again
Hey Sauce, I don't play wiz, my highest level is like a level 60 balance but I did have a level 15 life wizard back in 2009 (until I lost the account since I was just a kid 😂) I really appreciate your videos keeping me updated on how the game is still going and while I don't know if I'll ever dive into the game to fully experience it (I usually buy a subscription every once in a blue moon to experience the nostalgia) I do find it fascinating and exciting on how the game is still not only going but adding new content such as raids into the after all these years! I know raids are only looking to be endgame right now but I think it would be interesting If there were low-level raids where you have to beat them using the new downlevel PvP system. Would be pretty exciting to see veteran players team up with new low-level players (though I'm not sure how the guild system works so maybe that wouldn't work)
I played this game for the first few years it was our. I reached level 70 when that was the max. I recently came back to the game and there are so many new features it feels a little overwhelming to catch up on it all 😅
I stopped playing because KI wants to advertise that open chat is for 18+, but get mad when we use it in such a way. Even if we're just talking to friends. You have to alter words that should be available if you have open chat, but as stated before. It doesn't work that way and I wish they would change that.

I think if KI can get some good commercials together like they had back in the day (like when they announced tourneys and had live actors) it could help grow fs, I haven’t seen a decent wiz ad in a long time
If wiz switched to a free to play model and kept pretty much everything else the same i'd argue they'd make more money because of the boost in general playerbase.
Part of like, the awe that lured me to this game back when I was a kid was seeing someone with a gear set that was AWESOME and it becoming my "dream set" and having that overarching mission of always trying to get that gear set. But now everything just feels obtainable as hell. Load up my 4 boxes and farm the hell out of whatever I need and boom. I feel like to appeal to that old sense of nostalgia for just getting cool stuff that not many other people have they should make a bunch of extremely cool cosmetic sets like hats robes boots wands that are farmable from very difficult bosses and with low drop rates that people actually want to farm for. Insignia gear just doesn't cut it like a set of samurai armor for example lmao. They gotta accept that the allure to this game is the grind and seeing your characters grow and get new things and obtain new content. That's what always brings me to this game year after year. They gotta maxx on that.

I think covid really got a lot of people playing again, including myself. I also gotta say that I love the orchestral music and I find myself putting on the soundtrack as study music in college. There's also the fact that each world has such a different vibe and look to it, and the fact that the game is still making new content and new worlds. I have a level 160 fire wizard who used to be max and even though my new main is a level 62 Ice, I'm always tempted to go back and play through Novus and Lemuria. And after that, Wallaru sounds fun too. Now that I have lost my allegiance to Harry Potter, Wizard101 satisfies my inner wizard lol. I also think that W101 has the potential for growth if KI makes good marketing decisions and finally makes arc 1 free, or at the very least Krokotopia and Grizzleheim.
it is a fun game. and has a lot of positive aspects to it. i believe a different parent company when it was acquired in 2021. so better graphics, better menu chat options and more free content. also more crowns items could be acquired through certain actions. while it was possible when the game first began. it wanned.
Look I'm happy that sauce is having fun playing this game and I don't want to sound like I am hating on sauce, but this video just makes him seem so ignorant about any other mmos and I feel like he should try to play any other mmo. Then he will realize just how little depth this game actually has and all the things he listed are also in those other mmos. The only thing that this game excels at compared to other mmos is screwing over their player base and their amount of monetized greed.

Statistically all the changes was worth it but pvp in general needs work. I hate how gear is statistically made and I hate that dpp also needs work. Overall I do believe the game will hit an even higher peak however they will still need to do a lot to make it where that’s possible.
While I like both of their games, I think KingsIsle's biggest issue is the membership format. Realistically in Wizard the entirety of Act 1 should be free and all of Pirate should be free. I have no problem paying for New Worlds, like ESO, but their monetization model is really outdated.
If Wizard101 needs endgame content, Like make a Abyss DIFFICULTY challenge dungeon that'll give Weekly rewards and same with Challenge boss rush, if the game have these things I'll play the game 100% and the reason why is because people slowly don't like pvp to be honest and it would be honest if Kingsisle focus on something else for players to do something else to challenge themselves to get better as being the better Wizard

@@15ag34 we already do have the number to run raids en masse, the vast majority are just gatekept because of needing a guild (didn't exist before raids), needing a bunch of people online (recall what the max member count for guilds are), taking a massive amount of time, sloppy releases, loot system, etc. only reason why i'm not disappointed at raids is because i had zero expectation that they were going to do it properly to begin with

I swear so many people are getting fed up with wizard101. The problem with wiz Is that they are continually downplaying the game. Making pvp for new players that won't even pass Celestia. Making new players spend money without knowing the game is a terrible strategy. Last time they made starter gear for new wizards but no one uses those. Just make them free for krok. Another problem is that wizard101 is becoming pay-to-win. Remember the days when you had to farm for reagents to craft deer knight? Now spellements killed crafting the things that players enjoyed. What the devs are doing is creating a double edged sword. Which needs to stop. All these craftable gears are now worst than farmed gear. Worst yet is them putting gears in pack. All wiz had to simply do is ADD REAGENTS TO THE PACK AND MAKE PLAYERS USE THE REAGENTS TO CRAFT THE GEAR. STOP SUGARCOATING WIZ PLEASE. I just hated getting on wiz and have nothing to do. I agree here at 6:40 remember when the old wiz graphics were here? We all thought, (at least I did) that the graphics would never change. The voice acting has gotten so much better over the years, as well as polishing old worlds. I really hope this game stays with us for a very long time. Something unique I found when questing on my lower level the other day. They introduced a new NPC in firecat alley (the crazy firecat alley) Her voice seemed very familiar and I looked it up. Jessica Calvello is voiced by her who also voices Hange from Attack on Titan?? I was stumped when I found that out! The fact they can bring in voice actors who have a lot of impact from other shows/movies is saying something.

I just reached Avalon on my Fire. I am currently level 55 on Myth, Life, and Storm, and as of the time of writing this, I am level 54 on Balance and Ice. If you’re wondering about Death, that’s who I completed Novus with, and I’m still in progress with everyone else. Not sure if I’ll reach Azteca and beat Celestia and Wintertusk as everyone else, but it’s gonna be one heckuva ride.

Hey Sauce, I don't play wiz, my highest level is like a level 60 balance but I did have a level 15 life wizard back in 2009 (until I lost the account since I was just a kid 😂) I really appreciate your videos keeping me updated on how the game is still going and while I don't know if I'll ever dive into the game to fully experience it (I usually buy a subscription every once in a blue moon to experience the nostalgia) I do find it fascinating and exciting on how the game is still not only going but adding new content such as raids into the after all these years! I know raids are only looking to be endgame right now but I think it would be interesting If there were low-level raids where you have to beat them using the new downlevel PvP system. Would be pretty exciting to see veteran players team up with new low-level players (though I'm not sure how the guild system works so maybe that wouldn't work)
I played this game for the first few years it was our. I reached level 70 when that was the max. I recently came back to the game and there are so many new features it feels a little overwhelming to catch up on it all 😅
I stopped playing because KI wants to advertise that open chat is for 18+, but get mad when we use it in such a way. Even if we're just talking to friends. You have to alter words that should be available if you have open chat, but as stated before. It doesn't work that way and I wish they would change that.

I think if KI can get some good commercials together like they had back in the day (like when they announced tourneys and had live actors) it could help grow fs, I haven’t seen a decent wiz ad in a long time
If wiz switched to a free to play model and kept pretty much everything else the same i'd argue they'd make more money because of the boost in general playerbase.
Part of like, the awe that lured me to this game back when I was a kid was seeing someone with a gear set that was AWESOME and it becoming my "dream set" and having that overarching mission of always trying to get that gear set. But now everything just feels obtainable as hell. Load up my 4 boxes and farm the hell out of whatever I need and boom. I feel like to appeal to that old sense of nostalgia for just getting cool stuff that not many other people have they should make a bunch of extremely cool cosmetic sets like hats robes boots wands that are farmable from very difficult bosses and with low drop rates that people actually want to farm for. Insignia gear just doesn't cut it like a set of samurai armor for example lmao. They gotta accept that the allure to this game is the grind and seeing your characters grow and get new things and obtain new content. That's what always brings me to this game year after year. They gotta maxx on that.

I think covid really got a lot of people playing again, including myself. I also gotta say that I love the orchestral music and I find myself putting on the soundtrack as study music in college. There's also the fact that each world has such a different vibe and look to it, and the fact that the game is still making new content and new worlds. I have a level 160 fire wizard who used to be max and even though my new main is a level 62 Ice, I'm always tempted to go back and play through Novus and Lemuria. And after that, Wallaru sounds fun too. Now that I have lost my allegiance to Harry Potter, Wizard101 satisfies my inner wizard lol. I also think that W101 has the potential for growth if KI makes good marketing decisions and finally makes arc 1 free, or at the very least Krokotopia and Grizzleheim.

it is a fun game. and has a lot of positive aspects to it. i believe a different parent company when it was acquired in 2021. so better graphics, better menu chat options and more free content. also more crowns items could be acquired through certain actions. while it was possible when the game first began. it wanned.

Look I'm happy that sauce is having fun playing this game and I don't want to sound like I am hating on sauce, but this video just makes him seem so ignorant about any other mmos and I feel like he should try to play any other mmo. Then he will realize just how little depth this game actually has and all the things he listed are also in those other mmos. The only thing that this game excels at compared to other mmos is screwing over their player base and their amount of monetized greed.

Statistically all the changes was worth it but pvp in general needs work. I hate how gear is statistically made and I hate that dpp also needs work. Overall I do believe the game will hit an even higher peak however they will still need to do a lot to make it where that’s possible.

While I like both of their games, I think KingsIsle's biggest issue is the membership format. Realistically in Wizard the entirety of Act 1 should be free and all of Pirate should be free. I have no problem paying for New Worlds, like ESO, but their monetization model is really outdated.
If Wizard101 needs endgame content, Like make a Abyss DIFFICULTY challenge dungeon that'll give Weekly rewards and same with Challenge boss rush, if the game have these things I'll play the game 100% and the reason why is because people slowly don't like pvp to be honest and it would be honest if Kingsisle focus on something else for players to do something else to challenge themselves to get better as being the better Wizard

Raids are a blessing and a curse, likely saved the longevity of the game but pretty much split the game into casual and non casual fully.
Oh but to contribute to your discussion: Keeps me playing - I quit. What would make me play - Interesting and challenging world, return of straight up gear farming(Waterworks esc farming)

@@15ag34 we already do have the number to run raids en masse, the vast majority are just gatekept because of needing a guild (didn't exist before raids), needing a bunch of people online (recall what the max member count for guilds are), taking a massive amount of time, sloppy releases, loot system, etc.
only reason why i'm not disappointed at raids is because i had zero expectation that they were going to do it properly to begin with

I swear so many people are getting fed up with wizard101. The problem with wiz Is that they are continually downplaying the game.
Making pvp for new players that won't even pass Celestia.
Making new players spend money without knowing the game is a terrible strategy. Last time they made starter gear for new wizards but no one uses those. Just make them free for krok.
Another problem is that wizard101 is becoming pay-to-win. Remember the days when you had to farm for reagents to craft deer knight? Now spellements killed crafting the things that players enjoyed.
What the devs are doing is creating a double edged sword. Which needs to stop. All these craftable gears are now worst than farmed gear.
Worst yet is them putting gears in pack. All wiz had to simply do is ADD REAGENTS TO THE PACK AND MAKE PLAYERS USE THE REAGENTS TO CRAFT THE GEAR.
