Nick's playing is fantastic. I think a lot of what makes him special is that for one he was out in the sticks in Canada pre-internet days and didn't have access to a lot in terms of guitar teachers or all of the stuff that came out from Shrapnel records. I think that helped him quite a bit in developing his own style. The other being the fact that he is a left handed guitarist but he plays as a right handed guitarist. This makes his left hand extremely strong and he has some crazy legato slippery blurry licks. I bought some stuff from his store a while back, It believe it was tabs to one of his songs. I was surprised to almost immediately get an e-mail from him saying hey thanks for the purchase if you would like to buy all 3 songs I will give them to you for a few bucks more. Super cool. I bought all three tabs, but never got past the first one. Thanks for the video, great stuff.
you described Nick's sound really well. he's the first guy to inspire me in a while, absolutely love his playing. great vid! thanks for some stuff to work on, EXACTLY what i was looking for 😎🙏
I learned of Nick Johnston and many other awesome guitarists from Sheet Happens. I think some of the Protest the Hero guys run the website. I'm glad I found Nick and the others through there because I never would have found them otherwise. This isn't some unsolicited ad for the website but I am just a huge fan that I figured I throw a shoutout to it.
Thank you for this 3’fer. I’d add Ian Thornley from Big Wreck as part of the Canadian Invasion. That guy can shred, but he keeps it very contained within the Big Wreck context. (Also, nice T and album cover on the wall 😀).
Thanks Steven and heck yeah - Ian's a great player and I featured him in a Three-For-ALl lesson last year! : ) ---> ua-cam.com/video/hyG44lauryU/v-deo.html
Get your bass out and make a "Royal Blood" bass lesson even Jimmy Page loves Royal Blood and you can see Lars standing on the side of the stage going I wish metallica can do rhythms like that.
I have just wrote ''Nick Johnston licks'' and this video came out. I am so glad that i discovered this channel now.
Oh, man, you have seriously answered my prayers. Nick is a killer player with such a great feel and his compositions are very deep.

I've been following Nick for a couple years now. He's also good friends with Guthrie Govan. They did an album together I believe.
A Protest the Hero lesson would be super sick
Nice video man! Can you take a look on Mateus Asato double stop licks please? It Will be nice to see you teaching something like that! Stay safe!
