I own a ton of watches and I wear my Seiko SBDC051 at least twice a week. Love it. Archie has some mental problems. Buy what you like unless youre worried about resale value. Average person could give a shit about a watch anymore. Everyone thinks youre weird to wear one anyway. We need to foster growth within the hobby for everyone or future generations won't know it.
I have Seikos in my collection that are twenty years old and still work perfectly. They didn't cost more than 2 tanks of gas or a night out. How is that a losing propostion?

Maybe OP exaggerated a little but he said the truth. The only wristwatches that worth them are luxury watches. Omage and cheap watches are a waste of money. Save your money and get that one good watch. A chrono under 5000 dollars cannot that good. IMHO.
BTW Rolex is not the best and the one answer. Omega, IWC, maybe Breitling are less on the mainstream edge and you don't risk to have the same watch of your boss or colleague. Eberhard can be an alternative way. Contograph panda reverse is a such cool luxury watch for example.
