We need a pick in the first 15. That's after all the academy picks etc not before. If we still paid his salary then someone may throw in a player and draft pick.
@@seanchristie7150 Barrass isn't. He is worth a top 10 pick probably. But if we pay his salary then that opens up opportunities to get another draft pick. Losing him will hurt us. But hopefully Bazzo will get fit quickly. But if McGovern goes down then we'll have Hedwards Bazzo and Jamieson as the tall defenders. Not good. I don't know if we could throw in JWilliams or Oscar there short term as support. JWilliams would learn against the top forwards so wouldn't be a waste. Maric probably a bit too small for key position.
@BDub2024 Given the mountain of work the backs have done this year, pretty much the only consistently functional part of the team, we might be in good stead to keep them settled
@@seanchristie7150 I do think its a concern if we lost both at same time. Hedwards will be an ave-good player and hopefully get to 150 games, despite being injury prone. I think Bazzo is a better player. Jamieson will be backup if they keep him on list. I can't see BWilliams as a defender though Haselby thinks possibly. There are some tall mobile forwards in JWilliams and Reid if necessary in the short term. We need a tall defender, but really midfielders are totally necessary. If we had 5 or 6 I'd like Langford, I think he will be awesome too. Just can't skip over a Draper or FOS if available though, would be reaching a bit at this stage
This is great stuff Jesse. Really enjoyed this analysis especially given what we have. I agree we need some accumulation and provably high end foot skills and we may not need too many more big powerful guys. Also, I could live with TB being traded, my feel is maybe a top 10 pick with say a 3rd rounder coming back or maybe a later rd 1 and maybe rd 2 pick - thoughts?
We could pay for Barrass salary at another club. They could throw in a top 15 pick and maybe another player or draft pick. you can play around with the arrangement by agreeing to do the salary.
I think we need one of Draper or FOS. I think we end up with pick 2 with North overtaking us, so id go to the Crows with that and see how much they want Draper, might get a 2nd rounder or something(maybe even involving a possible Curtin trade?) to go from pick 2 to 4, and take FOS with 4, cant see North taking another small mid like FOS. I think the Tigers go for Smith or Smillie at 1
As a Crows supporter Curtin trade for your first pick is overs for us but the counter argument will be we desperately need the Big Bodied Mid, if the trade went through for pick 2 or 3 I think the Crows split the pick 4 for Freos/Richmonds 12 and 16 this will give us access to Travaglia to replace Curtin at HB and Dodson as we need a development ruck. Would be a fantastic haul Draper Travaglia Dodson and Welsh but is Travaglia and Dodson worth Curtin probably as 2 first round picks for pick 8 is better then one but we would need another big bodied mid but we sure up our ruck extractor and half backs if we give him up.
@carlocarbone2859 my idea was if the crows are desperate for Draper the trade is pick 2 + 2nd rounder for 4 and Curtin. No chance I'm trading pick 2 for Curtin lol he's worth less than he was last year
@stallon720 that makes a lot more sense. I don't think it would happen practically giving up 2 first rounders for an SA mid when we could also grab O'Sullivan if you guys take Sid.
