Just a note - if you add yogurt right out of the fridge, in the boiling salan, it will curdle. So, better to bring it to room temperature before you do that. Or, alternatively, add it in a cup of mild warm water, mix it and then transfer into the hot pan.

I add potatoes too and fry it with onions and the masalas before adding the rice and water to the pressure cooker. We call it tahari. Sometimes we eat the non spicy white version too where we cook the same in coconut milk, we call that murg pulao.. it's nice juicy, a little sticky unlike the biryani rice where the each rice grain stands like pearls. I would try this quick salan and would share the experience soon.. 😀
