This will work with many models of canon pixma printers, with screens and without screens to fix the error 5B00 (looks like 5800 also)

A Thousand Times...THANK YOU for this video!!! My relatively new printer (have not even gone through my initial supply of ink!) started not printing in black and I couldn't figure out why. I performed all of the "cartridge cleaning" steps and whatever else was suggested in the printer app. Then, went online after finally figuring out the error code and researched a couple of different videos on repairing the issue. SOOOOOO frustrated that this video wasn't one of the first 4 or 5 that popped up on my screen. After trying to put the printer in service mode multiple times according to the other sources instructions and getting nowhere, I finally gave up in frustration. The printer has been sitting on my desk for a few months now and I finally got so desperate that I was planning to go out THIS afternoon to purchase a new one after doing a little research.
Decided to try to fix our printer one last time and looked up the error code again. This time, the same few videos I had watched the first time popped up, but because I could tell that I had already viewed them previously, I went to the next one. THIS ONE!!! Worked the first time. I can not believe how easy it was and how much time I wasted on the previous ones. So very frustrating. THANK YOU for your very thorough explanation and description of what to expect. I'm bookmarking this one!
I used your reset advice on my Canon G3501. It worked absolutely fine and we are now back printing. This saved me a "quoted" repair fee of £200.00 here in the UK...Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for this video. The only one that actually gave correct info on how to put the printer in service mode and press the buttons the correct amount of times. Here in Brazil there are so many people making 15 minutes videos giving a lot of wrong info, it sucks. Even printer store attendants gave us a lot of BS! Thnks again, mate
You are welcome, I am happy to help =)
@@thecollegepicker I logged in to say the same thing except I'm in the U.S. and the other videos are just as bad as the commenter said were in Brazil. This video is the only one that gave the right directions. I was about to toss my printer out the window before I saw this. It's almost back to normal! Thank you!!
I called Cannon Support after paying $20 fee. They were no help, said my 5B00 error code was not fixable. The only thing they offered me was a 10% discount on certain models of new Cannon printer for me to purchase! Thank you SO MUCH, your instructions worked on my 1st try. If someone like me, a 76 year old can follow your instructions, anyone can!
Worked on my Canon G3200 with the 5b00 error, though my D = 063.6, not 100.0, on the service print before a reset. I was trying to get some colors back and after several cleanings and deep cleanings that was when I got the error code.
After resetting the D, and deep cleaning again, I still had no magenta color!
After a system cleaning, all is now working again but I used almost half a tank of each color and now D = 020.0 already!!
Removed, washed and dehydrator-dried (couple hours at 115F) the ink absorber pads. Put them back in, reset the D to 000.0 and all is back to square one, except now I need to buy more ink!
Your videos saved my printer - AWESOME !
Thankfully yours was the first video that the Google algorithm chose. Very well done. So congrats! Worked great on my Pixma G2200. As another viewer commented.... the % waste ink read D=063.6 when I received the 5B00 error. Now reads 0 and is workinig fine again. Like yours, I love this "no cartridge" printer and want to nurse it along another 6 years.
WOW what a wonderful breakthrough. It worked on a PIXIMA 922 (my 5th such printer) The error code was B200 which was equivalent to last rights. Anyway, your power up then 5 stop presses cleared it up. It ran a very lengthy cleaning then printed flawlessly.
Thanks again!
THIS ONE ACTUALLY WORKED. This is like the 5th video I looked at. I was ready to give up, thanks for giving ACCURATE information.
You are welcome. If you could please thumb it up so it will get higher in rank and help more people 👍 appreciate you!
Excellent video, following your instructions and steps were easy to understand. I was easily able to reset my Canon G3200 printer 5B00 error code. Before watching your video, I spend hours looking for answers my printers 5B00 error code. Unlike other videos you not only explained what to do, but also why we need to follow your instructions. Thank You !!!
Wow! Thank you so much. I have a Cannon Pixma G3200, went printer shopping today, then decided to check out UA-cam for a fix and luckily found your video. You saved me some big cheddar, thank you! 👊
BRILLIANT! Worked well for Canon G4600 Pixma. Many thanks . My printer is now printing better than it has in ages, Crystal clear text and bright colours.
You rock, man, great job, clear video and directions. Bought replacement waste ink pads off the web, replaced the saturated ones (super easy) and was struggling to reset the printer until I found your video. All good now, back in business for a few more years, suck it Canon! Thxs again.
Worked exactly as you instructed. Very clear instructions. I have the G3100. Thanks!
I tried 4 or 5 different tutorials, this one fixed my Canon pixma 2200, thank you!
I have a G4210 and this worked perfectly except I had to press power (hold it down) and then press reset 5 times. My colors were not printing well so I did maintenance to deep clean, nozzle check, etc. Then came 5B00. Drove me nuts until I found your video. Thank you!
This worked for me THANK YOU!
Fixed it using your procedure; outstanding tutorial, Martin
This worked and was so clear and simple. Thank you 3200
Thanks buddy, simple crisp and short!
Thanks for this! I gave up searching for a solution to error 5B00 almost a year ago. I thought I'd see if there was anything new about this on here. I'm glad I did! This worked perfectly on my G1200. The only exception was that D=063.8 not 100+. It doesn't matter though. It still worked. Thanks again!
Happy to help 😃
Thank you! Worked for Canon PIXMA G3202. Love my PIXMA!
I literally started my car and was letting it warm up when i decided to try one last video to get my pixma G1200 to stop giving me this error. You fixed it and probabaly saved me a few bills. Thanks so much!
You are welcome. Happy to help 😃
by far the simpliest, best description and fix for the 5B00 error code
Thank you very much for this easy to follow video to help us all out😉😆
My Canon printer model is G3501 and your instructions worked perfectly
You legend. Also note, you dont need to ink flush. I do it manually with syringes to refill the cap. A standard syringe will fit the holes and you can manually suck in the ink into the tubes. Just remember that when the caps are OPEN, the ink flow is stopped (to prevent it from leaking backing into the thank while refilling).
Yes you can do it that way but most people don't have the syringe handy and a built in function may be easier for them. But the syringe method would make a good video 😊
WhooHooo!!!!! Worked!!! OMG thank you!!!! Pixma G3202 Awesome easy directions!!! We were so frustrated. This was fantastic!
Worked great! I have the Pixma G4200. Wondering if I should replace the ink waste pad at some point, however.
Your fix worked on my G4600 as per your video. Thanks from Australia
Thanks heaps for the instructions which I tried out today on my Canon Pixma G3610 and it worked beautifully. Thanks a million again for taking the time to post this resolve.
I had the same error 5B00 on my Canon 4100. I followed the steps and problem solved. It actually even resolved a problem I had that it wouldn't print the colors correctly. Thanks!
You are welcome.
Thanks for your clear instructions. Worked perfectly for my Pixma G3200. I'm now looking to fix the streaks after cleaning it several times. Next step is looking for instructions on how to clean the print head. :)
You are welcome 🤠
Thankyou so much. My Cannon G3501 pack up withthe 5b00 error. Just the ink pads and they were full of ink. Still whenever I turned it on kept flashing 7 times green & amber. So glad I found your video. Going to get a waste tank to try and bypass the ink pads and go straight in the bottle. Thankyou
Excellent help. Thank you. Very clear and worked.
Awesome! This and your other video on the description helped solve the issues on Pixma G4100
Thank you so much!! I had watched other videos one i couldn't understand and thought it was going to be a giant paper weight! Now my printer works again!
Worked perfectly on my Pixma G2501. Thank you so much for the video and advice.
Worked perfectly on my Pixma G4511. Thanks a lot!
I have a Canon Pixma G3202 printer and this process worked! Thank You!!!!! I do want to note I had to have the printer print aout a new report the 1st time I did not do that and it went back into error mode, so I had to go back thru and after the printer printed d 0000 I had to then print a report! The 1st time I did not do this and the printer still thought the over flow was full. Make sure you print another report after the printer prints the d 0000 level page.
Worked great on my G3202. Thank you so much!
Worked like a charm. Had to try putting into service mode a few times but it finally worked. Thank you 🙏🏼
5B00 error waste counter reset on PIXMA G6020 worked like a charm. Thanks for providing this.
A very heartfelt thank you!! In the wee hours of the morning, the printer wouldn't print with proper colour so I topped up all the tanks and cleaned the heads .... but after that - just a symphony of error lights flashing at me, and no print - Grrr!!! Checked the usual - no apparent problem yet still no print. Your video was so very useful, and even though my D = 063.6, I was finally able to get the printer out of service mode and use it again normally. Again, Thank you very much from Brisbane Ausralia, the video was an enormous help to me! 😁💐
You are very welcome
It worked for me on G1200 Thank you so much! keep those video's coming!
Very helpful tutorial Eric ! Thanks for helping !
You are welcome. Happy to help 😊
Thank you for the fix!! The instruction missing in other's videos was to have paper in the printer.
PIxma G3200 was "printing" blank sheets. Followed your protocol and it was still printing blanks. Did a "deep clean" and now is printing normally. Thank you!
Hey there thank you so much for sharing this video! I'm having the same problems as you do. Paper came out blank but still having the 5B00 error. Any idea to solve this?
Your information worked on my canon pixma G3200. Thank you!
You saved the day for me once again with your clear and excellent instructional video! It worked perfectly on my G4210! Thank you so very much!
This video is a godsend! Trying to print stuff for my daughters bday and I get this dreaded message and nothing worked! Instantly started working after I followed this! Canon G1200
worked like a charm on my G3200! Thanks again!
Worked perfectly! Model G1400. Thank you!!!
Worked on my G4210, but to get into service mode it was holding the "Color" button + Power...only to enter service mode.
After that, everything was as per your vid.
Thank you!
Worked 1st time & only video showing how to fix the exact problem I was having with my Canon G1200. Numerous others showed how to remove, clean & replace saturated ink pads but none addressed how to reset the ink pad stats thus my printer was still a brick. This was the only video that gave instructions how to reset saturation % to "0" thus allowing the printer to return to normal service. Canon's solution was to purchase a new G1220 for $200. Thx!!!
Wow, canons solutions sucks. Happy to help
Watched one video and the dude said the printer couldn't be fixed. Glad I found you!
Good work 🤝
Thank you ,it works for my pixma E460 printer.Great help
Worked for my G1000. Many thanks!
Great job you totally saved me! I have the Pixma G3200 and had error code 5B00...during the test page I had D=063.6 and I still followed the video and it worked! Thank you :))
This is the most simplest video to solve this issue by far. Thank you.
You are welcome
Thank you! This error code is diabolical. It did take me a while to get to the safe mode at first - I kept alternating between powering the printer on, hitting the stop button and hitting the start button again. Whatever I tried ended up turning the printer off. However, I let it sit for a little while - enough time for it to contemplate its bad behavior - and for some reason I was able to get the printer in safe mode and past the first step. The rest of the steps worked perfectly. Thanks!
Yes!!!!!! Thank you for this video, yours was the only one that actually did it the right way. It worked. I would not have been able to use the
printer again if you did not show us the right way to reset it.
Glad it helped!
This method works perfectly with Canon Pixma G5070. Thanks for the video.
Thank you mate I did what you told and my printer is back to work now. Many thanks
Thank you so much for the very well detailed instructions, my G4200 printer now reset and is working great.

Worked for my Canon G3200 ... Thank you!🙏
This was very helpful..!👍🏾
This actually worked! So thankful. 🙌
Thank you so much for your simple and precise video. This solved my printer issue. I have a G4600. Do you also have instructions on changing the ink pads?
I have a Pixma G4210 and when I hold the stop button and then hold start, while still holding start as instructed, and pressing stope 5 times, nothing happens.
EDIT: I hooked it to the computer, still it wasn't going into maintenance mode. I kept trying and then it decided it was going to work and then I followed the instructions given here and it worked. Thank you so much!
I actually had to hit power first then stop 5 times to enter the service mode. Same model as yours pixma ts9520, no idea why - none the less appreciate the video/work you share.
Worked on my G4210! thanks so much!
it worked! Thank you.. I used to pay 1000php/$20 just to get it fixed.
Worked for my G4411 thank you so much!!
Thank you! I have Canon Pixma G3200 and it works! Thank you again!
Thank you mate,
G4600 here and all worked
Thank you soooo much!!!! I have a Canon G3200 which had the error code and I have cured it thanks to you!!!! Great video!!!
Thank you that helped alot. Any suggestions as to why my black print is printing slightly blurred yet when I print in color it is fine?
Good video, thanks. After following the steps including pressing the stop button 3 times then power, I'm now getting 8 flashing lights which is 'ink absorber almost full'. When I check how to fix that I'm directed to press color or black but I don't want to interrupt any operation that's already in progress. Any help there?
Thanks so much Eric!
Really helpful! Thank you!!!
Thank you so much. 😊 This helps a lot.
Thank you for clear instructions. Pads replaced and reset Cannon Pixma G3501.
good video but my model is the TS8222 and only has the on off button...any thoughts for me...thank you. With further checking it looks like this model is call for service only!

You are welcome 🤠
It worked! Thank you very much! G4210 I just had to press Power and then stopp 5X to get it into service mode.
Thanks! I was also able to buy the ink pad replacements on AliExpress.
Glad others found it helpful. My printer wouldn’t go into service mode. I have a G4210 and I’m thinking it’s something either I’m doing wrong or it’s with the printer.
Thanks for this helpup Video. It cleared the 5B00 code on my Pixma G3200!
Thanks for your video!!! it works great on a PIXMA G3501
you are perfect . Thank you so much for this video.
Thanks a million, worked on my Canon G4411
Thanks for trying to help. I have an old, cheap MG3060 and this process did not work for it. I appreciate your effort, anyway. :)
