Listening to this patriotic song while Ukraine is being invaded by Russia. A reminder that the defense of the motherland is a burden willingly undertaken by its loyal patriots.
My grandfather said to me that our ancestors is part of the guerrilla movement in mindanao during ww2 and when listening to this song is making me proud like my ancestors protect and serve this country for us, they endure hardships for us new generations to live freely.
Tried writing an English translation for others to try and understand in a poetic sense, ano tingin nyo?: Don't you folks remember? The pain in your hearts, the weight of surrender. But I'll never abandon you, bet with your life! Ay! Even if, I have to cross, the other side. Oh mother, I now have to say goodbye! I'll now have to go away, from your side. Prosperity is my duty, as well as to serve and protect my country. Don't you folks remember? The pain in your hearts, the weight of surrender. But I'll never abandon you, bet with your life! Ay! Even if, I have to cross, the other side. And so, this is all, that I ask from you: Just don't mention my name. And if ever I don't, come back. Go and look, for my body, in the mountains.
Glad i have a great grandfather who gave honor for his country. He died long ago, he fought the Japanese Soldiers here in Cebu, and he said it was an intense and a brutal battle.
To FOREIGN listeners this is a partial translation of this World war 2 Guerilla song: "Oh my motherland don't you know how my heart is wounded, after the unconditional surrender, Even though that happened do not lose hope i will still take care of you even if it cost me to go to the afterlife trying to. Goodbye mom, i will go far away from you. for that is my duty to serve and protect our motherland. My last wish is to never call my name, And if I no longer return you can find my corpse in the Mountains.

For those who don't/can't understand Tagalog, the title in English is, “Farewell, oh my mother”. I think it has a double meaning. This song is dedicated to their mothers or the motherland. I will edit this comment for the English translated lyrics.
Naabutan ko pa ang Lolo sa tuhod. Nung buhay pa sya tuwing mag isa sya sa kwarto nya ito yun sinisipol nya. I never thought na ito pala yun song na palagi nyang sinisipol.
