I have done all sorts of extreme workouts. KB long cycle is the Hardest single thing ever in my opinion... which is why a la David Goggins I do it. You deal with oxygen depletion and overall discomfort and fatigue. What the champions like Denis do is incredible at 32kgs

Outstanding outlook! I am exactly the same way. Kettlebell Sport, CrossFit, Ultra Marathon etc… are all test of mental and physical endurance, but ultimately not sustainable and hard on the body. I did CrossFit for many years and spent as much time a chiropractors and massage therapist as I did in the gym. Over training ruined my back. I stopped the torture type training, started kettlebell training and now I am the strongest I’ve ever been.
Could you talk about the amount of crossfit that you did, and what is the kettlebell program that you ended up with? How is your strenght compares? Have you kept exercices from crossfit?
I did CrossFit probably an average of 5x per week. The only thing I took from it to cross over to KB training was maybe using the EMOM, Tabata etc..methods with KB’s. Because KB’s move in a much natural plane, my usable/functional strength increased tremendously. I don’t do Olympic lifts with BB’s anymore, but if I see one laying around sometimes, I’ll pick it up, perform the movement and low and behold it feels lighter and better than it ever did. Not going to absolute exhaustion and failure that CrossFit often requires has been a great benefit also. I’m 51 now and CrossFit generally is too risky and completely unnecessary for me now. Please don’t take this as shitting on CrossFit, but I feel it’s more of a competitive sport and not a lifelong sustainable fitness program. I absolutely admire those young athletes who compete in it.
I have been a long time trainer, Im a dormer Navy Spec-War Veteran, BJJ competitor etc... I love what you are putting out Lebe! Its true and you dont hold back when going against some of the KB OGs or the new trends. Anyone listening, trust this guy he really cares about health and fitness while keeping you injury free. I hope your channel explodes brother. It is very rare for someone on YT to tell the truth instead of just trying to get the most views.
I’ve been training with kettlebells for over 20 years, mostly hardstyle. Last year I spent a year training gs with Vasilev as my coach. After about 11 months I started dreading the workouts. I think besides full contact fighting gs is about the hardest thing a person can do physically and mentally. Long cycle for ten minutes for me was brutal. How anyone can do it 32kg is beyond my comprehension. I love watching it, but for me it was too much. I still use gs style but train for fun 😊
Haha, those 10-minute sets take you through a rollercoaster of emotions, especially jerk for me. I competed at the weekend with 20s, posted a 1-minute montage on my channel (rare post). Still learning the sport, enjoying the journey.
Hey Gregory, good Video. It basically strenghtened my recent decision to stop doing kettlebellsport even if it was for a reason you unfortunately missed to mention. It's hard on the body and I had the feeling that alkl those heavy jerks weren't that good for my spine and hips. I just started to feel stiff and less mobile. The exact opposite of what kettlebells can actually offer you and why I fell in love with them in the first place. Maybe it's also just me getting older or bad sleeping habits, but either way I started dreading my coaches workouts and just felt stressed whenever I thought about time. On top of that I started with BJJ, and when doing some strength training in addition to this martial arts you are better off with other exercises than Long Cycle. BJJ made me turn away from GS and return to nice compound exercises with the kettlebell.
I assume you’re talking about the competition itself rather than the style, since your drop for the snatch (took me a long time of watching your videos and practice to get) is the sport snatch. The same with regard to jerk style. The difference is that your hybrid style uses more like a hinge rather than the pendulum. Finally, I could be wrong, but from my inexpert opinion, it seems like, other than the hinge, your style has grown more similar to sport over the past few years. Anyhow, thanks again for the great videos!

I do my own version but not strictly like they do it, I rest in between and do a couple of sets to then move on to something else. You can get the benefits of endurance and conditioning but you don’t have to necessarily do the whole 1 minute rule like in competition.

It's a great video! Thank you for the insights! I believe there might be room for a different style of kettlebell competitions. I agree that current KB sports competitions are both physically demanding and can seem dull. It's truly a shame because this tool is highly versatile, offering dozens of ways to move it and compete with it. Perhaps it's time to create a new competition style that offers a wider variety of exercises, allowing for combinations of different exercises, etc.
You'd best make exercise part of your regiment though, in order to minimize injury potential. Exercise for health must be sustainable long-term or it's not exercise. Sports participation is definitely not sustainable long-term, especially not without exercise training.
Hi, I just recently got into KB‘s and your vids are a huge help. A question: what is your opinion on using 2 different weights for double-racked presses etc. e.g. 16kg & 20kg? Cheers!
I agree with everything you've mentioned - it will never be a mainstream thing. But kettlebell sport as the idea of the weight marathon sport is sooo freaking awesome - I don't care about who wins the competition, I care only about being better than previous me. That is what KB sport taught me - to go deeper, to not compete, to enjoy and give my all - deeper into feeling myself, understanding myself (as a soul and the body), tapping into states of mind that I never would otherwise - it's like a drug. It's a lifetime journey of developing yourself - every macro cycle towards some goal is something new, it's like a new chapter in your life - and also every 10 minute set (with any weight) is completely different journey. Also I think that kettlebell sport (in a modified version) it's a missing component of strength and conditioning of every combat sport - I would say that kettlebell and barbell (with olympic weightlifting techniques and some squats and deadlifts) are all you need in a gym for becoming a walking military tank, regardless of age. Exercise is about sustainably challenging the 6 pillars of human movement, with intent and intensity: squat, hinge, push, pull, rotation/anti-rotation and locomotion in order to improve or maintain a high level of physicality. An exercise routine must improve and sustainably maintain strength, power, stamina, endurance, mobility, agility and cardio respiratory conditioning, this in order to be adaptable to any hardship that life can bring you. An exercise program can never lead to injury, it must make you less susceptible to injury. Exercising is about adaptability vs specificity. Sports training on the other hand, is all about maximizing physical performance and acquiring a very specific skill set, in order to perform a given task most efficiently. Such training and practice is not sustainable long-term, it will easily lead to injury and health problems long-term. Sports training is about specificity, rather than adaptability. Exercise will never lead you to be the strongest or fastest. You will never have the most endurance or sports specific skill set, but you will be most adaptable to any physical challenge.
10 minutes. In Russia they have kettlebell marathons where you go for 30 minutes of snatches or clean/jerk with a 35 lb kettlebell for men in snatch and double 35a for clean and jerk. Arm Wrestling is similar to Kettlebell Sport. Niche sport.
That's true. I used to do snatch with a 30lb kb for 40 minutes couple of times when I was like 16 y.o. But 10 minutes of jerk/ long cycle with a heavy kbs is waaaay more difficult thing
I can do 30mins of snatch with a 20kg, I can do C&J for an hour straight, with a 20kg. I have yet to try jerk only, just cause I find the other two to be harder. 30min sets with a single bell are actually pretty enjoyable, kinda like a nice jog.
Im actually getting into Kettle Bell because of the sport . I find the world is very confusing, tho not just for sport but for kettlebells in general , you see diffrent schools of thought in kettlebells , like in basketball and anything else there is a set standard or a fundamental you learn but kettlebell doesnt have that .
With about one year experience, I can tell it's addictive, and that sucks :). It took me some efforts to restructure last off-season long kettlebell training sessions to specialized short once, so I could get back time for my prime sports. Got better in all of those, and that sucks for training and racing mates who are not in KB yet. Oh, yes 10:26, that's why 10 mins EMOM is my choice over 10 mins non-stop :) Your channel is addictive too, one time I got pissed off with seemingly unfair absolutism and unsubscribed just to re-subscribe and turn all notifications On :).
I just love the exercise! You are correct about it being a sport. Most Americans aren’t even aware of kettlebell exercise! I only learned of it when one of my employees starting an exercise training program with Kettlebells!
This reminds me of "You need to exercise, don't train" (Pavel). Showing the correct form but not forcing us into something uncomfortable. Every individual is different. Also, it's hard to find a good kettlebell for the purpose. You can't just walk into any sports equipment store and buy it. I think a good kettlebell is like well-matched or bespoke clothes and shoes: it's not uncomfortable but it takes time for your body to adapt. And a good coach is like a good tailor. 😄
I have to disagree a bit. I understand where you're coming from with your clients but there is some value in training GS. I'm no Steve Cotter or Valery Federenko, but everyone needs a template to follow. Although I am not an elite kettlebell athlete, I have followed protocols for elite athletes and have made progress even though I have to scale back on the workload because I am not at that level. So it does work. I'm not saying it is the only way but it does yield results.
Kettlebell is not a sports tool, it has benefits on the "sports level" though. My experience is that it takes me deeper into the moment and into my body - kind of like meditation and yoga. After a training with a right shaped bell i feel harmony joy and peace - Caliesthetichs , CrossFit, Body Building, swimming etc dont give me that peaceful and positive state of mind.
This is what I like so much about your channel. Your approach is fundamental and academically deep. But you are not prisoner of an idea like hardstyle, RKC or kettlebell sport. Moreover, you try to create a new hybrid technic absorbing benefits of both. You are doing great job I watched UA-cam a lot in the kettlebell niche you are N1 without any doubts. But, you are right kettlebells in general boring. Even you are revolving around 10 exercises .It is not like calisthenics with 100 progressions, My question what do you think about training with sandbag one more very useful but not popular topic in fitness? Seems like good and real thins are boring)
Kettlebells are like watching curling or cricket - not interesting. They are the only weight lifting element I include with my yoga practice - absolutely love them.

2hrs longcycle 2x16kg kettlebells. 634 reps unbroken. Proud of this record 💪

Kettlebells are like watching curling or cricket - not interesting. They are the only weight lifting element I include with my yoga practice - absolutely love them.
