Hey everyone, thanks for joining me for these daily workout routines! As always, you can get the GP files and the backing track through my Patreon page: www.patreon.com/rafaeltrujillo. If you want to practice these exercises at different tempos, it can be very effective to use the Guitar Pro files. This time, I'll show you some exercises I like to do when it comes to just playing downstrokes. Have fun practicing and let me know what you wanna see next!
Hello, I have noticed that your picking hand looks different when playing tremolo/downstroke than your regular picking technique. If I'm not mistaken your are using a wrist motion for alternate pick, and then you engage a circular forearm motion wich allows you to get this tight and heavy muted sound. As it's 2 different techniques how do you approach your practice method, do you recommend to practice for exemple this workout or the tremolo one with a regular picking technique too ? Is there for a tone aspect or other reason, can you talk a bit about that ? Cheers !
I aim to keep all my movements consistent, but when I need more percussive and aggressive sound, I hit the strings a little bit harder. It's a similar technique to what Guthrie explains here (ua-cam.com/video/v96B7RMlKWk/v-deo.html), but with smaller motions.

Do you practice this with upstrokes as well?
yes sometimes. But the downstroke is more important to practice like this in my opinion.
