I have watched this video/reaction at least 50 times now and the thing that stood out to me the most besides the speech at the end was. "You can't kill me I am Temptation and I am IMMORTAL! Oh yeah? Well I'm HOPE and I'm ETERNAL! We are a coin of different sides...". Opposing forces battling throughout the history of time. Ren is Shakespeare like in both poetically and musically.
Worth noting that the two faces of a coin do not oppose or battle each other. Ren is pointing out that that hope is eternally within us as human beings; so too is the urge to protect oneself, which the mind does by “managing expectations, that thing you neglected”, self-criticizing and self-sabotaging (to avoid failure). These forces seem opposed in the context of our conscious goals (because one feels “good” and the other feels “bad”), but they are actually equally important and integral parts of our minds that must both be accepted and integrated to stop the war within ourselves; to “soften” so the “dance [can get] easier”.
Ren has suffered from Lyme's disease for over 10 years due to a mis diagnosis, This has affected him physically and psychologically. He is in Canada right now getting treatment, say a prayer for him. He's a true artist.✌️❤
@@BBaker916 Because in the UK Lyme disease sufferers are consistently disbelieved or told their symptoms are "all in their head". Even if doctors do believe you, they only prescribe a short course of (often inappropriate) antibiotics which is woefully inadequate to treat this appalling disease. I know many Lyme disease sufferers who have had no alternative but to seek treatment in other countries if they can afford it. Those who can't afford it simply suffer in silence. Ren speaks for all of those people.
I just recently found this song and others from Ren and went down the rabbit hole. He's a special type of artist, and I'm glad he's getting the recognition he deserves!
Here is some information on Ren's story, in case you didn't already know. I gathered it from old newspaper interviews, articles, and Ren's livestreams and posts where he discussed his condition. Ren Eryn Gill is a British musician/independent artist; born in Wales on March 29, 1990, or ‘91 (depending on which source you cite), he grew up in Brighton. Ren pursued a career in music from an early age. In 2009, while studying music performance at Bath Spa University, he began to experience health issues and was struggling to attend his lectures. In 2010, he was signed by Sony Records and was working on an album when his health deteriorated to the point where he was unable to continue and subsequently dropped by Sony. Ren's illness often kept him in bed for up to 23 hours daily. Ren was initially misdiagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder, and chronic fatigue syndrome, which led him to experience psychosis. It would take seven years before a doctor in Belgium finally correctly diagnosed Ren with autoimmunity, Lyme disease, and resulting damage to the brain, organs, joints, and PTSD. Ren eventually underwent stem cell therapy in the United States, which improved his health, but it has not been a cure. Ren is currently in Canada for more treatments, including surgeries, and will have to be there for at least six months (Summer of 2023). His most recent surgery went well. Ren's Canadian doctor discovered that Ren also developed a condition called Mast Cell Activation Disorder, which has affected the myelin sheath in his brain, his thyroid, adrenals, as well as his bones/joints. Ren stated: "It's a lot to wrap my head around having to be away from friends, family, and a successful career, and almost feels like a total juxtaposition to the fact that my music is blowing up right now and spreading to all corners of the world, but that's life, we take the good with the bad." Let's keep supporting Ren as he undergoes his treatments. Check out and subscribe to his channel, listen to some of his earlier work, like and comment on his performances, and let's lift Ren's spirits. If you are a believer, pray for him. Ren is an artist with something to say to this generation, and his work is needed in these troubling times. He calls his Music jokingly ,BARDCORE, but I think it's Perfect for his use of words and musical abilities. It's a combination of theatre , Poetry and music.
Our beloved Brighton Bard strikes once more. The modern day minstrel with a mind full of tales is finally getting the recognition he deserves 🖤 bless him 🙌🏻
I knew this would blow your mind. He really had sickness and was miss diagnosed for a long time. I really enjoy seeing you guys reacting to these new artists. Love you guys ❤️
It's a reflection of his life's struggle. It's so profound and powerful. There's nothing quite like it anywhere. Calling him a "true artist" is an understatement to say the least.
GOOD JOB, GOOD LUCK AND CONGRATULATIONS TO THE MR. WHOM PUT THE RING ON THE MRS. FINGER. SEEN THIS PERFORMANCE SEVERAL TIMES ALREADY, VERY IMPRESSED. "MUCH LOVE AND GOD BLESS. THE DEMON WE FACE IS NOT IMMORTAL."
Great reaction! I'm 69 yrs old and discovered this by accident the day it was released. It crosses age, language, taste in music, all kinds of barriers. It went far beyond Ren's expectations because he just threw out mana from heaven, so to speak, and it's still raining down, and everyone who tastes it is enlightened.
Oh,,,, I will watch these reactions for years to come for this song, as the tears that build up behind the ones who get it, and fight, fight, fight to keep those tears back, is just so beautiful. I cry everytime. Namaste
Very nice. I appreciate your reaction as you did not bother to break down specifics, details - but spoke to the emotional reaction experienced. Cheers.
This is the most befuddled and speechless I've ever seen yall after a reaction. That's good. It means you soaked it in and experienced it instead of simply listening to lyrics or a beat. This, as Carol said, is simply art. A one-man show.
True art speaks to the soul, and Ren's art does just that. And Ren shows us that we can use the arts to express ourselves and resolve unresolved inner pain that we tend to bottle up and suppress, using art allows us to grow spiritually, and is a way for the soul to shine. 😊
Ren is a multi talented artist who has honed his skills busking in the streets of Brighton. The band The Big Push he was phenomenal of styles that are played with the joy and skill that we haven’t seen in too long. The rapping videos are intelligent, fun, heartbreaking mix ,without bs . He works with a variety of collaborators . Brilliant but relatable, he is a talent that shines a beam of light that art comes from the human soul not from a industry machine.
Ren is so talented, and has an fairly large catalog to listen to while he is in Canada receiving treatment for the next few months. He is amazing💗 Peace
Great reacton. You should listen to his trilogy, Jenny's tale, Screeche's Tale and Violet's tale in that order. Its simply the best story set to music I ever heard.
I have been waiting for you two to react to this performance, and I even left a comment suggesting this song in one of your recent reactions. As I expected, you did not disappoint. “Hi Ren" is the song that put Ren on everyone's radar since December; it went viral and has garnered more than 5 million views since its debut, but he has been creating great music for more than ten years. Ren’s music videos are generally recorded live, often in a single take, although not necessarily the first take, and from various camera angles. His release, "Sick Boi," is almost another chapter to "Hi Ren." Many of Ren’s songs resonate with people because he addresses struggles that many others face every day. Ren plays multiple instruments (acoustic, electric, and bass guitar, piano, drums), has impressive vocals, is an excellent storyteller, and is quite the philosopher and poet. He is considered by many a modern bard; he calls his music “bardcore.” Ren’s earliest recordings on UA-cam are from his time in a band called “Trick The Fox,” consisting of Ren and his buddies Charlie and Tommy. Unfortunately, the band performed only briefly due to Ren’s onset of health issues. They are very talented. A fun clip to watch is “The Mash Up.” Ren’s trilogy "The Tale of Jenny/Screech/Violet" has been likened to a Shakespearean tragedy and is a prime example of his genius; it is a master’s class in storytelling. The three acts are haunting, and the conclusion will catch you off guard. The trilogy needs to be watched in the order given, as this is the flow of the storyline and is best watched as a whole rather than piecemeal. Ren’s collaborations with Chinchilla (“Chalk Outlines,” “How to Be Me,” “Sexual Healing,” “One Dance/Drunk in Love”) are beautiful and showcase his singing voice. His live music videos are especially impressive. Ren's personal reflections are threaded through many of his songs; "Insomnia," "Depression," “Diazepam," “Penitence,” “Dear God,” “Heretic,” “Dominos,” his "Freckled Angels" album, just to name a few, all deserve a listen. His song "Money Game" (Part I & II) is another recommendation, although it is less of a personal song than it is an indictment of greed and the resulting injustices in this world. Ren’s Hip Hop/Rap style songs are all worth checking out if you enjoy this genre; they are pretty amazing. Check out “The Hunger,” “Genesis,” “What You Want,” “Losing it (FISHER rap retake),” “Right here, right now (Fatboy Slim one shot retake),” "Life is Funny," “Love Music (Parts 1, 2, and 3),” “Crucify Your Culture,” “Power,” and his latest release, “Bittersweet symphony (The Verve retake).” As I recently discovered, Ren also recorded a cover of “Can't Help Falling In Love (Elvis Cover),” that is simply beautiful. Then there are his performances with Sam Tompkins (“Blind Eyed,” “Earned it /Mans World / Falling,” “Walking on the moon/No Diggity”), Eden Nash (“Humble,” “Ocean”), Bibi (“Crutch,” “Ahiahiaoha”), Molly McKinna (“Penitence”), his former bandmate, Romain Axisa (“French Song”), which are all great. Ren's performances as a member of the band "The Big Push" (which unfortunately broke up), their busking (street performances), concerts, and their live recordings, are awesome and well worth checking out. Ren's covers of "I Shot the Sheriff," "Wade in the Water," "An Englishman in New York," “Bongo Bong,” “War Pigs,” the songs "Oh My Woman," “Swan Song,” “Sweet Little Lady," "It's Alright," "Watch Out," “Dignity,” and so many others are equally impressive. In anticipation of his stay in Canada for more treatments, Ren prepared some music ahead of time to be released over the next six months that he expects to be gone. He released “Sick Boi” and “Bittersweet Symphony (The Verve retake),” which is another masterful work.
Welcome to a new rabbit hole with Ren. He's another who crosses genres, but comprehensively I think his art is untouchably above every else I've seen and heard.
Ren is the most humble and caring person. He is really a nice guy in every way. He is also a modern Shakespeare in his storytelling. Great reaction Thank you.
All of his songs are amazing. Dig deep. Not one moment spent with Ren is wasted. Brilliant. Beautiful. Genius. Talent. Creativity. Honesty. Love. Salvation.
theatrical, creating tension, changing his voice with the character even the playing of the guitar changed between the characters, chords that use dissonance which we might normally associate with being false he made them make totally sense, the faster pace of the lights going on and off, the change of dynamics, the fight between the two characters not only musically and lyrically but also visually and then in the end the speech.... sooo much to discover and indeed totally different and unique from anything i saw so far.
Enjoy a good cry it's freeing. When I 1st watched it I cried like a baby. Now I get so much joy watching people react. You can't hide raw emotion. He wanted to heal people and he has. I've seen grown men cry. The more I listen & watch when people talk about it. We all can find peace knowing other's feel like we do. It's so hard to tell people how you feel. He gives you words
Welcome to the rabbit hole that is Rens music. Tales of jenny and screech its an amazing 3 part story. The hunger really shows off his rapping skills aswell. So many songs to choose from.
Great reaction 👏👏👏 The tales of Jenny and Screech ( full) Stunning story telling genius. Chalk outlines live with chinchilla is a beautiful song. Rapping, the Hunger. Dominos is a favourite. All his work is worth a look he is a new force in music ✌️❤️🏴
Hello! I found you through your NF Hope reaction, and I am so pleased to see you made it to Ren! This is set up so simply, but crafted so thoughtfully and completely. The guitar reactors explained that he plays with the devils chord/interval at the beginning. The music is discordant as is the voice in line with the message of the chaotic / destructive side, for example. He and NF are masters in their own right, and I thought you would appreciate the space for hope that both pieces offer. Both are the ultimate soothsayers for the internal struggles. Ren has attached the lyrics in a pinned comment to most of his videos by the way. Different to NF, Ren is a musical chameleon. You will never know what to expect in the next video. People have already suggested Chalk Outlines, as one of his most popular sung duets, and the Trilogy of Jenny and Screech is a Shakespeare drama in 13 minutes. But you have to watch them in the full version (Jenny, Screech, then Violet's Tale) so that they make sense. But I know you like rap, and he has that too. I really like Genesis, or power, but songs like Hold on are beautiful too. And then you can discover the street musician, both with Sam and with his band 'The big Push'. I love their cover called 'Man's World / Nina Simone / Trouble so hard' to show how beautiful he can sing and play the guitar. Thank you!
I understand your struggle to come up with the words to describe your feelings. I had to listen to it a few times in a row and work through it, because it touched my heart. Thanks for a great reaction
Ren is one of those artists who I can’t help but think every single time I hear him about how much of a genius he is! He isn’t going to just sit back and let an illness run his life
The plus is you had to think about your thoughts and feelings on the subject matter. That in it's self tells me that Ren did his job by bring a conversation into us being human.
The opening guitar and falsetto invites our critical mind to engage and then feeds it a script. It feels like the voice of the critic is attatched to our own inner critic. We egin to expect our voice to speak and then it magically speaks with Ren's critical voice.
Fantastic reaction! Hope you get the chance to listen and react to more Ren. He truly is an incredible storyteller, musician and poet. A bard with the ability to grab the audience by the emotions and take them on a journey.
I'm really looking forward to you both watching The Tale of Jenny & Screech (Full) it is in 3 parts, it's 3 single shot pieces, played live that should be watched in 1 sitting!
I loved your reaction to Ren guys and thought you two were such an adorable couple. I love how Rens message breaks through any cultural or language divides and leaves us all feeling like we've just experienced a profound piece of Art and Truth. Had to subscribe Greetings from the USA !!
Wonderful reaction to a wonderful piece of art. I can’t express how good it makes me feel to see young people react to videos that are not in their native language. It demonstrates a willingness to explore and to be open minded. Long may you run together!😊
I'm so happy I've found your channel in my Ren journey. First of all you both of GORGEOUS human beings. Second of all, your reaction is so powerful. I love that about this particular video. It evokes such genuine emotion, empathy, understanding and appreciation for what an masterpiece it is from every standpoint. Bravo!
Love your reactions guys. Ren's music is incredible and refreshing to see talking about illness and his misdiagnosed Lymes disease. Ren and The Big Push are awesome.
Beautiful reaction guys, loved it! Ren saves lives...he is an angel sent to us, to help the most desperate. Adore his art, many thanks for your reaction...big fan of the channel. X
I enjoyed watching you two experience this profound video. I had a similar reaction when I watched the first time. I'm glad it seems to be having such a positive impact on such a wide variety of people, as that's exactly what good art does, and should do.
I've never seen reactors as affected by a song as this one. And it affects me too, because everyone struggles with thoughts of negativity and chaos. Obviously Ren was affected far more than most, but this song is positive in the end. It's really quite a special song.
Ren breaks every boundary and brings us all together, no matter what age. Absolute generational genius
Well said !
👏👏👏
I totally agree with you my friend but instead of generational I'd say cuz we are human as ren said we must not forget we are human beings
Beautifully said ❤
I never get sick of this reaction. It goes from wtf to no seriously WTF to bewilderment to realization to amazement to the brink of tears. Amazing
everytime!🙃

theatrical, creating tension, changing his voice with the character even the playing of the guitar changed between the characters, chords that use dissonance which we might normally associate with being false he made them make totally sense, the faster pace of the lights going on and off, the change of dynamics, the fight between the two characters not only musically and lyrically but also visually and then in the end the speech.... sooo much to discover and indeed totally different and unique from anything i saw so far.
"I felt him" says it all. Perfect ❤️
the full version of jenny , screech and voilets tale you must do all 3 together by REN
I really enjoyed your reaction video. I'm an old man, but I feel like this kid sort of saved my life.
Ren is such a talented musical artist/musician and I consider his music to be gifts! Thank you for your beautiful reactions!
He is absolutely an artist. ❤
Welcome to the rabbit hole that is Rens music. Tales of jenny and screech its an amazing 3 part story. The hunger really shows off his rapping skills aswell. So many songs to choose from.
If you want to hear more of him singing please consider doing Ren x Chinchilla Chalk outlines live
Perfect reaction. Overpowering thoughts and no way to put them into words.
Great reaction 👏👏👏
The tales of Jenny and Screech ( full)
Stunning story telling genius.
Thank you!
Your reactions mirror so many that I have seen and felt. That is the power of Ren, welcome to his world.
I understand your struggle to come up with the words to describe your feelings. I had to listen to it a few times in a row and work through it, because it touched my heart. Thanks for a great reaction
Great stuff.
This outstanding, next level, modern masterpiece needs to be part of every high school curriculum.
My new favorite couples' reaction page!! You two are adorable and mate, your curls are freaking amazing!! 👍👍
I've never heard this guys music. Thanks for introducing me to Ren fam 🙏

Wonderful reaction to a wonderful piece of art. I can’t express how good it makes me feel to see young people react to videos that are not in their native language. It demonstrates a willingness to explore and to be open minded. Long may you run together!😊

Thank you both for your reaction to this genius.
The best part of what I've seen of Ren, he does everything live.
He did that LIVE .... see the microphone on his shirt. Check out Chalk outlines. He in a league of his own.
You both are so beautiful and your reactions were very relatable to everyone else’ reaction to this amazing work. God bless you.
