I disagree, as a music lover he was always elevated amongst my fellow music lovers. I know tons of musicians in a wide variety of genres that list him in their favorites. His influence and music is timeless, though I will agree that normie fanboys of popular genres can’t see past five years ago. This is a recency bias more than anything. That part of it is shameful because most new music is soulless and uninspired.
The very essence of New Orleans, Fats, Rhythm and Blues. A classic masterpiece among all the great stuff that Fats has done. Fats Domino made this world a better place and gave it unequaled happiness with his music.
Aside from my parents giving me a flip-top 45 player when I was a little boy, they gave me some of their old records. My favorites were the Fats Domino records!
Highly underrated song by Fats...the arrangements are very sophisticated. Vocally this was very challenging for Fats to sing in the right key it took him 7 takes to do this song.
Probbly because he probably didn't get into any serious controversies. The movie would probably be boring.I'd love to see them do a movie about him. I know that they're probably going to do something on Chuck Berry in the next two years. RIP
a movie documentary doesnt have to be a drama if somebody wanted to, they could talk to friends and family and maybe even possibly read a journal/diary for some insight imho entertainment comes from context not content, if you know what i mean. :)
Such movies seem to need a subject that was addicted, abusive, etc. Fats, by all accounts, was just a really good guy and great muscian. No drama there.
You went away and left me long time ago Now you come back'n knockin' on my door I hear you knockin' but you came from him I hear you knockin' go back where you've been I begged you not to go but you said goodbye Now you come back tellin' all those lies I hear you knockin' but you came from him I hear you knockin' go back where you've been If you had a lesson long time ago You wouldn't be goin' from door to door I hear you knockin' but you came from him I hear you knockin' go back where you've been You went away and left me long time ago Now you come back'n knockin' on my door I hear you knockin' but you came from him I hear you knockin' go back where you've been I begged you not to go but you said goodbye Now you come back tellin' all those lies I hear you knockin' but you came from him I hear you knockin' go back where you've been If you had a lesson long time ago You wouldn't be goin' from door to door I hear you knockin' but you came from him I hear you knockin' go back where you've been
Remember a song by Eric Burdon, think it was Winds of change, was about his music influences, when he mentioned Fats his comment in the song was He made me smile...nice!
Absolutely superb artiste with his ''rolling'' piano sound. His style of R&B dates back to the 1940s & he perfected it & made his own distinctive music.
Wonderful.... just like Antoine Domino himself. The cat was classy from start to finish. A beautiful soul who gave so much to us while he was here. Thats a great tale to tell Deb.
One of many great songs from one of the founding fathers of rock n roll the late and great Fats Domino still play it on my internet radio show Classic Soul me the Masterblaster
Started listening to "The Top 100" back in 1957 (I was 10) & I had worked hard to get a Transistor Radio so I could hide & listen to this music alone. (Mom always had chores for me on Saturday.)
One of the greatest artists , I knew . First, time I heared him coming out of the jukebox of mine grandfathers pub in Rotterdam, in the sixtie's. I was ten years old.
The're all leaving us!! Ernie kado,Pete Fountain,Allen Tousaint,Fats Domino. We down to a few now.Pretty soon the only one left will be Benny Grunch, lol

Smiley version has soul and the beat. Fats is Fats. Melodic and fun. Lady Madonna was a great version when Fats moved more into the then current genre for a while. After all tho he was pure New Orleans and he worked great with Dave Bartholomew
One of the founding fathers of Rock N Roll.R.I.P. Fats Domino.
Fatts Domino never received the recognition as a great artist that he deserved. Shame!!!
I think Fats got PLENTY of recognition. No shame.
As Fats once said “Ain’t that a Shame.”
He was one of the biggest record sellers of all time .
Agree 🇺🇸

A friend of mine grew up in the New Orleans area. He said Fats Domino played his Junior / Senior prom. Now how cool would that be?

That would be the night that never ends!
The girl bands like the Chiffons, the Supremes, the Ronettes and all these guys ruled dance night in the late sixties.
Far out!
That would be really neat!
